thank mr depreshun
>>23392566
I feel ya. Little tip: Get one of those brita filter things (like the one in the pic). Take the cheap vodka, run it through the filter like 3-5 times, and boom. You got yourself top shelf quality vodka.
>>23392593
It gets washed down with Dr. Pepper literally zero seconds after it's swallowed. Will try this though, it's complete shite
Any recommendations for someone who just turned 21 and has no idea what the fuck to buy?
>>23392845
What kind of stuff were you wanting to get into? Bourbon, beer, Scotch, wine, etc.
>>23392872
I was thinking about rum, I've never had rum before. I've had meme drinks like jack daniels and fireball because of high school. I have no clue what would be considered a good beer, I grew up drinking pabst bud and Heineken, I prefer heineken.
>>23392882
Rum, I can't really say anything as I don't drink it. However, for the price, I've seen people do Kraken and coke. Also, at least at my store, Bacardi flavored rums do well, especially Dragon Berry. Perhaps try out either of those
Beer wise, I can help you out. What state do you live in? I ask since many states have different breweries that distribute there.
>>23392902
I live in northwest CT, I think I've also had a fucking ton of dubra because it was cheap. I'm really looking forward to trying an irish coffee as well.
>>23392923
For starters, try these (Brewery - name of beer [style of beer]):
*Pilsner Urquell [Czech Pilsner]
*Weihenstephaner - Hefeweissbier [Hefeweizen]
*Weihenstephaner - Vitus [Weizenbock]
*Hoegaarden [Witbier a.k.a. Belgian Wheat]
*Sierra Nevada - Pale Ale [Pale Ale]
*Founders - All Day IPA [Session IPA]
*Lagunitas - Lil' Sumpin' Sumpin' [IPA]
*Left Hand - Milk Stout Nitro [Milk Stout]
*Ommegang - Hennepin [Saison]
*Oskar Blues - IPA [IPA]
*Spaten - Optimator [Dopplebock]
*Duvel [Belgian Golden] - This and Spaten, along with Newcastle, were the first few beers I tried and loved
*Saison Dupont [Saison]
*Lindemans - Framboise [Lambic w/ raspberries] - not a good rep for Lambics, but good for someone getting into beer
*Chimay - Any of them, although the Grand Reserve (blue label) is my favorite of the bunch
*Unibroue - La Fin du Monde [Tripel]
Then, move onto these:
*Ballast Point - Sculpin [IPA]
*Founders - Breakfast Stout ['Double' Oatmeal Stout]
*Jack's Abby - Framminghammer and its variants
*North Coast - Old Rasputin [Russian Imperial Stout]
*Stone - Ruination 2.0 [Imperial IPA]
*Victory - Hop Ranch [Imperial IPA]
*Victory - Dirt Wolf [Imperial IPA]
*Lindemans - Cuvee Rene [Gueuze]
*Monk's Cafe [Flanders Oud Bruin]
*Sixpoint - Resin [Imperial IPA]
*Evil Twin - Imperial Biscotti Break [Imperial Stout w/ coffee]
There's a lot to say about beer, things like what to watch out for and the like. For one thing, it's important to drink beer in a glass. If all you have is some pint glass, that's fine. The reason is because smell composes a great part in taste. So, if you drink a beer from the bottle/can, it'll be like eating something with a cold when your nose is all stuffed up. Know what I'm saying?
Anyhow, hope some of this helps. Could go on about other aspects of beer, but I figure this post is long enough. hahaha
>>23392923
Though, I suppose I'll add two more things.
1. Taste is subjective. What one person loves, another person may hate.
2. To go along with #1, as you expand your palate with different beers, you'll find out that you might not like a beer at first. However, after a certain amount of time and drinking certain beers, you can end up loving that beer. So, it's always good to revisit some beers after it has been 6 months to a year or more.
Oh, and another beer that'll be good to start out on is Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout.

Drinking Sierra Nevada pale ale right now, it's pretty good so far. have some boobies for the good recommendations

fucking disgusting m8
Fin du Monde is hands down one of the best beers of North America though. If you want something a little sweeter but with the same kick, Don de Dieu is more fruity and fragrant. Trois Pistole is also 9% but harder-tasting. Then my favorite of course is Terrible which is a jet-black 10.5%. My fondest memories are living in Montreal with my (former) fiancee, we would split a 750mL bottle of the Terrible and have sloppy, mushy sex. Then the bitch left me and I started drinking those alone so that I could stop thinking about death long enough to pass out.
Point is, Unibroue makes amazing beers. Get a tulip glass though. If you don't have one of those, you can get by with a goblet but either way you have to be very careful pouring it.
>>23394793
Glad your enjoying it! And thanks? lol
>>23394941
Tulip is the best way to go. But, don't want to complicate things for someone who is just starting out.
Though, sorry to hear about the ex, man.
>>23392882
If you are looking for a dark rum, you can't go wrong with Mount Gay.
Can't remember if I posted this in the past thread. But, opened up a bottle of Side Project's Saison du Ble at a local bar. Stuff was delicious!
mods are being cucks as always, deleting my threads, so I'll post in this one instead
drinking Lagunitas Maximus
>>23397383
seriously, they're all SJWs and legion cucks who hate the users who made this site great while letting Reddit and Tumblr have their way with this place. and I know I'll probably get b& for saying this, but I honestly don't give a fuck at this point. they're gonna kill this site, and when that day comes I will laugh in their faces
>>23397383
Maximus is some tasty stuff.
>>23397407
I don't think I've experienced any of my threads being deleted before (although, can't say I pay close attention or anything).
What kinds of things are they doing? For the most part, besides drinking & Metal threads (and sometimes an Indiana thread), I don't really lurk in any other threads on here.
Things I've drank tonight
>muddled strawberry, lemon, some kind of bourbon
>Sonoma pear cider
>free shot of peach whiskey on the house (prolly BirdDog)
>a really overspiced bloody mary
>double shot "sex panther" tl;dr fruit mix and a swirl of vodka
>maghrebi tea
Forgot to take pictures until I got to the hookah bar.
>>23397383
You should try a decent sherry.
>>23397465
This confirms my suspicions that all hookah bars all across the U.S. have at least one drum for public use. hahaha Never been to one before, but my friend/coworker told me how one of his girlfriend's friend would lead them to hookah bars all the time. He said that they're always pretty relaxed and there's usually one or two people playing a drum.
Anyway, sounds like a good night for ya.
>>23397487
>one of his girlfriend's friend would lead them to hookah bars all the time
Kek, wish she were my friend. Hookah bars are great for winddown after drinking, I drive home so it helps immensely.
Protip: Order the house mint tea (maghrebi), and if it's a bar worth its salt it should have some nicely prepared desserts as well.
Also look for expensive cars parked outside of them, and old arabic-looking men playing cards; these hookah bars shall be the most dank.
[spoiler]And be sure the company you're taking with you can handle drinking + smoking and won't get sick...like what happened to my people tonight.[/spoiler]
>>23397465
perhaps a cask of Amontillado
and yes, arab mint tea is dank, helps a bit with nausea too

Drinking this right now. All settled into the new house. This porter is better and cheaper than about 90% of the local options in Southern California, aside from SN Porter. Either way, really good stuff!
>>23400301
founders is incredible, i live about a 5 minute drive from their brewery in gr
>>23397523
Duly noted. I'll keep it all in mind next time I'm on my way to a hookah bar.
>>23399541
That.....doesn't sound good at all.
>>23400301
All solid stuff from Founders. When Mosaic Promise is released, be sure to pick some of that up.
>>23401004
Damn, even though I'm like 4 hours South in Indianapolis, I'm jealous. Wish there was a brewery like Founders 5 minutes away from me. I'd be there every single day!

>>23402590

>>23402599
Ah, nvm then. Anyhow, there are quite a few breweries near you and a lot that's distributed there. I believe Other Half and Grimm are in your area and both are amazing!
>>23402616
never heard of either will have to check them out. Try to make it a day where i hit them and brooklyn brewery all in one day. thanks man
>>23392464
PBR right now, OP.
>>23393160
Old Rasputin is terrific, but pic related is a terrific session beer.
>>23402650
No probs. Brooklyn Brewing is pretty solid on its on too. If they have something called Black Ops available, be sure to drink some of that stuff up.
>>23402653
Don't you mean MORE PBR right now? lol. How are ya?
>>23402666
Well, you aren't incorrect about drinking more PBR right now. Doing good. Halfway through a 30-pack right now.
>>23402663
i liked two hearted last time i picked it up, local gas station has it all the time and they rarely have anything.
>>23402673
Sounds like a fun night. hahaha
And yeah, Old Rasputin is damn good and 2Hearted is good when it's at least relatively fresh.
>>23402675
It's a very accessible IPA.
>>23402677
This is also one of my favorites. Expensive here in Mississippi, but well worth the price in fall. Yet, this state, in general, is shit for beer availability.
>>23402688
Also, recently picked up some bomber bottles for when I graduate. Pic related is one.
>>23402688
Celebrator is some delicious stuff. You ever had Paulaner's Salvator? Might be available around you and it's the original Dopplebock, you'll probably like it.
>>23402706
What beer is that?
>>23402688
i live on an armpit peninsula so my local store only has a shelf of three sixpacks for "other/indie/craft" so i don't dont get to see much less i travel by outside for more.
>>23402712
I've had Paulaner Salvator. It's delicious, but rarely available in my area. In answer to your question, the beer in the pic is from Southern Prohibition Brewing, it's called Mississippi Fire Ant. Relatively hard hitting red ale sitting at ~8% ABV' has lots of flavor and a good hop profile. Can't wait to try the aged version.
>>23402718
Try it if you get an opportunity. It's delicious alone, but also makes a fantastic turkey gravy for Thanksgiving.
>>23402726
Sounds like a solid beer (the SoProhib one). Though, that sucks that it seems like your state gets shitty distribution.
All this talk about starkbier in this thread reminds me of how it's starkbier time in Munich and I'm not there this year. Fuck.
But I'll drive by my self storage today and liberate some of my rum collection. I feel like having a good drink tonight.
>>23402942
It's Mississippi, everything is shitty here except the fried foods, crawfish, and fishing for catfish.
Bumping for responding in the future.
When I was opening a bottle of beer a second ago a question popped into my mind: Why are most Americans so utterly bad at opening beer bottles (heck, any bottle without a screw top...) without a bottle opener? Why are they so utterly flabbergasted when they ask for an opener and you hand them a lighter, then proceeding to stare at you like a deer in the headlights?
>>23392464
Hey, I live in MHK.
>>23402479
its really not meant to tast good. it gets me wasted after two drinks. also if you are ever in gr definitely go to founders the beer is good but the food is even better!
haters gonna hate
Very interesting blend of beers. Really tasty though, definitely recommend (especially for the price point). St. Archer is quickly becoming my second favorite brewery. (I have to be a little biased towards my employer, so they're one.)
>>23401004
Their stuff is very good! Their Centennial IPA is probably their weakest beer in my opinion and it's still quaffable.
>>23402479
Still haven't seen it in my area, I guess I can live without it in the mean time!
>>23404577
>Why are they so utterly flabbergasted when they ask for an opener and you hand them a lighter
Because who the fuck opens a beer with a lighter? Only someone without the common decency of learning about opening a (quality) beer would use a lighter.
>>23406413
MHK???
>>23408251
>Because who the fuck opens a beer with a lighter?
Who the fuck carries an opener everywhere he goes? A lighter is something that at least one person in any given group will have on them.
>Only someone without the common decency of learning about opening a (quality) beer would use a lighter.
Wat. How does one learn about opening a beer...? It's kinda simple: Once the cap is gone, it's open.
>>23409241
>Who the fuck carries an opener everywhere he goes?
Get a keychain opener and put it with your car keys.
Also, I have no recollection posting that comment. So, I have no idea what that whole, "Only someone without...." bit was about.

I don't carry my car keys when I go out, especially not when drinking.....

Haha, fair enough.
Killing this Morgan
>>23410013
Ah, ok. I'm guessing it's a nice little place to live in, yeah?
>>23410044
I suppose if you live in the city and most things are either within walking distance or a short train trip away, you wouldn't have to drive. Wish that was plausible where I'm at.
>>23410183
Not a fan of Kraken?
>>23411045
>I suppose if you live in the city and most things are either within walking distance or a short train trip away, you wouldn't have to drive. Wish that was plausible where I'm at.
Europe, man. We've got public transport everywhere. I used to live in the middle of the city and had tramway, bus and subway within 200 meters from my door.
Right now I moved back to my parents while I look for a job after finishing my studies and even here in a "village", I have a bus running 50 meters from my door and a 5 minute bike ride brings me to a tramway stop that brings me into the center of a 1mio inhabitants city in like 20 minutes.
It's pretty sweet, yeah. No need for a car and no need to ever, ever, ever get behind the wheel after even one beer.
Tis a surprisingly good beer
>>23411206
Damn, dude. You're making me even more jealous. haha
>>23411220

Hey, not too much, man. Taking a little break tonight as I drank A LOT last night with a group of friends (pic related). Might open up a beer, but more than likely not. How about yourself?

>>23413234
Well then, happy (early) birthday, man! Sounds like you're going to have one hell of a time
>>23413316
hahaha, that was only half of it. The rest couldn't fit on the same table.
