I used to love Blind Guardian, back in the day.
I don't listen to thrash, per se, but I listen to Revocation, Goatwhore, and Black Fast. Those bands are death/black metal, but also have a thrashy sound to them.
Currently "in between" bands. I'm a vocalist that sounds like Mikael Akerfeldt (or Chody from Protest the Hero. Depends on who you ask), which limits the bands I can perform in.

Dude, the only thing "Astonishing" about that album is how piss-poor the writing is. The bad guy is actually named “Lord Nafaryus,” the love interest is “Faythe,” and the entire plot is about the “magical power of music.” It's basically what I expect from the kind of hack that sends unsolicited manuscripts into Tor Books on a monthly basis. LaBrie's vocals seem even more dead than ever (though at least he stopped screeching after the high octaves) and it was just entirely too fucking long.
