You seem like an alright guy, may have been bullied in junior high and high school but you grew from it.

Eclectic taste, quiet easy going but anxious guy

>>23117295
In early 20's, was kind of a punk in school. Party guy

Withdrawn, intellectual

Was bullied like crazy. Definitely grew from it.

>>23117411
Almost spot on. Been sober for 2 years now.
>>
>>23117295
Seems intimidating and perpetually angry but is actually a really genuine guy capable of good conversation.

I don't drink at all though.
I stick with my tree and psychedelics for the most part.

>>23117332
Was a huge nerd back in high school (not necessarily a bad thing, I was too), but recently has been trying to branch out in the entertainment mediums he consumes.
Has naturally good taste, but still on his own journey.

I was definitely bullied hard in middle and high school. Definitely grew from it and became quite an extroverted and passionate person as a result.

>>23117411
>Inarritu
You're a fraud.
>>
>>23117457
Uh, no. No I don't think so
>>
>>23117486
I know so.
Inarritu is the epitome of counterfeit cinema.
He is more concerned with his ego and the praise of others than he is actually making genuine art.
>>
>>23117437
Nailed it
May have grown from it but still bitter as fuck
>>
>>23117506
"Stop liking what I don't like" his personality is shit but hey I still really enjoy his movies. Sorry guy.
>>
>>23117514
His movies are shit and you're shit.
If somebody is trying to be "deep" and make "masterpieces" then they aren't actually being deep nor making masterpieces.
He reeks of inauthenticity as do his films.

It's not a matter of "STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE" it's a matter of understanding the proper definition of pretension and being a tryhard.

Not to say pretention in film is a bad thing, I have a huge soft spot for the ambition and raw talent of Noe, despite how pretentious his work is.
However, Inarritu isn't ambitious nor talented. He just wants to be seen as a canonized auteur despite not having the ability to be a genuine one. He's far too immature to have anything of any substance to say with his work as well.

In the words of Abbas Kiarostami; "When I talk to some of the younger filmmakers, they are so worried about their films that, eventually, this state of being worried reflects itself in and helps the final work. Whereas, with projects that are meticulously planned, you look at the end result and it is full of emptiness"

Understandable, like I said I respect the passion. Can I ask what you think about directors like Kevin Smith? Would you still consider him a passionate person after all he's done film wise?

>>
>>23117620
I would.
I think he has a lot of natural talent, and everything he does seems to be a labor of love (I haven't seen anything of his post Red State though).
The problem is he's much too flawed of a person and it comes across in his work.
He's always second guessing himself, doesn't really have confidence in his ability as an auteur, and has never really immersed himself into the artform like he should have.
Thus his films always feel quite immature, and lack cohesion.
He had the potential to become an incredible naturalist director but he never really grew up enough to figure out how he should properly grow and use that potential.

I like a lot of what he's done, despite how flawed much of it is.
Despite the fact that I can enjoy his movies though, most all of it is all wasted potential.

Same.
It was a neat genre bending exercise, and I was surprised that it worked as well as it did.
It wasn't perfect obviously, but it definitely wasn't bad.

Have you seen Tangerine yet? Probably in my top 3 films of 2015.
