I don't know about fancy places but I know a few places where you can go:

Matchbox in Chinatown. Order two pizzas: one for you and one for her.

Burrito Brothers near Capitol Hill if you're into that.

Los Hermanos in Columbia Heights is you're feeling like Latino food.

Any &pizza. Their personal pizzas are the best.

District Taco is a good choice. Their fish tacos are great.

Thunder Bar & Grill in Georgetown.

I'll think of some other ones later.
