I guess I do have a weird affinity for Nordic countries. Over here in the media though, most people are obsessed with the French, Italian, or Spanish. I also really want to learn German, Arabic and Russian, but there's not as much resources/interest for it where I live. Sorry, totally went off tangent. Well, as you might know, Finnish belongs to a completely different language family than almost every other language in Europe and is thusly fundamentally different (and all the more useless). It's a neat little special snowflake kind of language but infamously a pain in the ass to take up as a second language. Still, everyone who has a taste for it gets thumbs up from me.

I find linguistics pretty fascinating, but obviously, I don't know shit haha. If I really wanted to learn languages for practicality sake, I guess I would master Spanish, Arabic, and Mandarin first. But I'd also like to learn languages just for the sake of learning it. Finnish and Russian just sound the coolest to me. I've been listening to a lot of bad Russian electro-pop.
Turkish is pretty intriguing too. It almost sounds like Arabic, but it has like romanized alphabet? And then Farsi apparently uses like the Arabic alphabet, but is its own completely different language.
And then I know absolutely nothing about slavic languages. Or any of the African languages, except Swahili.

That's correct, they're the only Finnic languages besides some minor variations in Russia. Next up in the lineage are Uralic languages, most notably Hungarian, which seems sort of random. Linguistics are cool, just by the very definition of it. Communicating by a pact of vocal sounds. I'm almost fluent in English and it makes for interesting observations when you know two very separately developed languages well, both have their own distinctions and feel quite different.
I'm not very knowledgeable in languages outside of my home turf really. I took French and Swedish classes back in middle school and high school but wasn't very motivated to delve into either tbqh. I did pretty well though, think I've got something of a knack for languages. Been thinking about revisiting French, it's the easiest foreign language for me to pronounce for some reason. Not really sure what the point of this discussion is by the way but it's alright.
