It does seem that DD/LG tend to attract some of the worst sort of personalities. Especially with the Littles, they have a horrible tendency to be attracted to the Brat persona and use it as an excuse to act like a complete twat and then "defend" themselves, usually poorly, as that's just how their kink is.
That said, there's plenty of regular Kinksters that bring just as toxic a persona into the scene. There are terrible subs, and abusive, sadistic Doms that don't understand the exact role a Dom is supposed to play and just view it as a way to get sex when they want and how they want and their sub has no right to say "no" because they're the dom.
DD/LG isn't inherently cancerous anymore than Doms are inherently sadistic.
There's bad representations of each other there. I'll grant that because of their particular flavor, they are... vocal. But they are only an extremely vocal minority.
Most DD/LG are much like the rest of the Kink Community and stay quiet about their activities because of judgments that are handed out with broad strokes like this.
I'm only now getting involved as a Caretaker with a Little. We're taking it extremely slowly, I've never done it before, but I've been interested in understanding it. So far, it's felt very pleasant.
However, it's people like you that have turned me away from seeking to become active in the community. There's enough judgement from the Vanilla, I don't need it from the community that should be open and understanding if not accepting.
