Your "ASL"s can be an elf princess and the rugged but gentle half-orc knight that saves her, or the dragon that keeps her. Or maybe you're sci-fi greasemonkey, or the pilot of the starfighter she's repairing. Anything is valid.
>How do I get started?
Before anything else, come up with the character you want to fuck as. Try not to make a boring character, make someone you think people would want to interact with, it doesn't have to just be sexually! Once you've come up with your character, register an account on https://www.f-list.net and create a profile for them. If you're having trouble with concept, feel free to talk here with us in the thread or join our channel with a blank profile. We're happy to help you figure things out!

After you've created your character and think you're ready to actually ERP, open F-chat 1.0 or 2.0 from the chat tab on the top left of the Homepage. Look through the Public Channels and find the ones which interest you or apply to your character. If someone's ad interests you, look at their profile and private message them if they still interest you, or wait for someone to do the same to you. You can also post your character here, there's a chance one of us will be interested.

Get an flist, it makes organising a lot easier.
You can put game info on the profile (for starters, timezone and timeframe); put specific kinks you want or do not want (and the players do the same).
It helps even if you end up running it on skype.

Pretty solid base, but it's kinda hard to read because everything is crammed into so many collapses. An army of collapses is ugly to look at, and seems forbidding besides. Pull some of that stuff out into the open! Lay the basics out for everyone to see, so you have some at-a-glance appeal, to entice people into checking out the rest of the profile.
Have less words. I know, it sounds counterproductive on a site about writing, but brevity is the soul of wit. Just nuke some of those collapses entirely if they're not necessary, or combine them and shorten some of them. There's a whole sea of potential partners out there, so you want to catch people's attention fairly quickly, because nobody's going to read pages and pages of profile for just one partner if they're not yet sure they wanna play with you. Think of the profile as an ad, a commercial. The product you're selling is you.
On that note, more customs. The product you're selling is you, and the best way to showcase that is with appealing, personal descriptions of things and themes you like. Telling people what you like about a particular kink and why makes it easier to come up with ideas about how to include it in a scene, how to present it. (Also there's a checkbox in the profile options that'll automatically put custom kinks at the top of the list rather than alphabetical. This is literally the best change they've ever made to the site.)

My first advice is to not use that art. I've seen it used for almost every single catboy profile, to the point that I didn't even realize you were someone new until I saw that your profile was only an hour old. I can only assume it comes up on a google search for "catboy". And a quick Google search tells me I'm right. Use Gelbooru.com to find better art, that probably fits your character more. Just keep in mind that you're searching by tag.

The problem runs deeper than that I think. Plus, we already do that for the most part, and centering ourselves around the production of profiles and help instead of actual smut seems counter productive in my eyes.
The only real fix to numbers would be to have a board where our particular brand of smut making actually has a market, but unless our Yakuza overlord gives us a /smut/ board I don't see that happening anytime soon. /tg/ was really the most ideal place for this brand of ERP.
