The only makeup I use is foundation and concealer to cover up my facial hair (I have very dark hair so the outline of it is always visible, even when I've just shaved, thinking of getting laser hair removal or electrolysis)
I wear lipstick and eyeliner sometimes too, if I want to look extra nice, but I don't know much about makeup beyond that... I really want to figure out contouring to make my facial features look more femme, but I have no idea how to do that

Yeah-yup. The point of them being underneath the foundation (assuming you use liquids) is for it to show through the skin. Most people starting out have trouble blending everything on top, making it look not so great. This is an easy way around it.
