As someone who runs a life drawing workshop and employs nude models on a weekly basis, i have to agree that the job is much more difficult than many people initially consider. The model must retain poses for stretches of twenty minutes, and unfortunately it is the more full figured people that often have trouble with this requirement. I usually employ models who are athletic (dancers or yoga people are the best) and i look for people with some sort of background in art or art history so i dont have to constantly tell them how to pose.
Interestingly, the young people that apply, especially young women, view the job as less of a working position and more of an empowering opportunity. They really want to push themselves over some boundary they have or overcome body dismorphic issues, basically they are personally motivated to be nude. Honestly this attitude is pretty annoying as I dont consider nudity to be a big deal at all and im sort of tired of mollycoddling people in that way.
The best models ive had are athletic and creative people with a joyous and free attitude, unabashed people who dont consider themselves as a sexual entity for consumption.
That being said, the models i work with privately are usually exhibitionist types, and my work is pretty much saturated with pervasive sexual themes so idk. Publicly, i am a completely professional working artist and instructor, but privately i like painting people who make my dick hard lmao

I can understand why you hire the kinds of people you do. Like I said in another post, I truly wish there were better references and posers with bigger-bodied people, because the ones I have saved from /ic/ are awfully stiff and boring. And those are PICTURES, not models staying still for twenty minutes.
Like with muscles on athletic bodies, the fat folds on bigger people create values that look more interesting (to me). Since I'm a chubby person, and if I were to actually go through with modelling, I would only do the poses that I would find interesting enough to draw.

I'm using FireAlpaca! I made a custom angled brush (open a new canvas, like 50x50, and literally draw a black blob- whatever you want your brush to be shaped like. Pic related- mine is attached), loaded it using the "new bitmap brush" option and toggled with the "Load Color" option while painting. FOr harder edges, I bring the "Load Color" down really low (basically, it tells you how much of your color is blending with surrounding colors) and for softer edges, I put "load color" higher. Also used the blur brush to smooth out some edges.
Paint Tool SAI has brushes with similar blending properties.
For Photoshop or GIMP, it might be a bit tougher since their brushes don't "blend" like FA/SAI
