you seem to be using a different definition of free will than i am, something more akin to "personal/ psychological liberty", used by compatibilists. i should probably try to get more comfortable with it because my current definition seems to be intractable with determinism. either that or become one of those crazy indeterminists

The more I think about free will, the more I am confused. Computer processors receive signals and then compute what they are asked to compute, basically. They don't just do stuff if there is no input or stimulation. A billiards ball will not move if we do not move it. And when it does move, it does not have a say in what it will bump into. The neurons and chemicals must work in the same way. They are made of atoms, just like the billiards balls. There is a cause and effect cycle of the different neurotransmitters and electrical impulses which leads to our decisions. Scientists have found we make our decisions before our brain makes us aware of our decisions. If free will is not real, why do our brains put us under the illusion it is real? Personally I think we are in a computer simulation and everything we do is already been generated and we are just living it out. I've had this belief for a while and the fact that someone as smart as Elon musk having it too gives it more validity in my mind.
>>23975696

>>23975775
Never played nier but the soundtrack is great
>>
>>23975696
Like I care what Clarkson would think about me.
>>
>>23976527

yep, thats determinism. as for why our brains create the illusion, there is a sizable body of evidence now that disbelief in free will seems to have many negative effects (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_will#Believing_in_free_will), but thats mostly because people jump immediately to fatalism from determinism (its kind of hard not to).

the simulation hypothesis is interesting and certainly very plausible, but its still determinism and still ends up making me sad, so idk

>>23975656

I just love every song on the album so much, and it has such a strong concept and cogency, idk. i love hoom as well, and its certainly much more of an "epic", but currently divers is the slight favorite atm. maybe just because its the most fresh in my mind still, idk

I don't know, at worst we are just strapped on for the ride and we might as well observe.

The simulation idea makes a lot of sense to me partly because oddities I've noticed in my life and the speed of light. Some things just seem wrong but I cannot be certain if that is me or a "glitch in the matrix." The speed of light basically sets limits on everything we can do physically and with our technology (fiber optics). Time will literally slow down so the speed of light remains constant. We are also limited by other things. Disease limits population. Age limits experience. Gravity limits object size. All of these would fit in with the idea that we are being simulated on a computer and having infinite people would bog down the simulation. Also the idea of parallel universes could just be other simulations running the sake conditions.
The idea of this can be expanded because maybe we aren't the first ones being simulated. Within decades of making computers we tried to simulate life (in our own image) and play God with the Sims and it is extremely popular, but is limites by our computers. Once quantum computing takes off who knows what things will be like. It would be like going from mechanical computers to electronic computers.
But maybe the people who are simulating us are in a simulation themselves, and we are just one of thousands in this chain. There has to be a base world eventually. What is that like?
>>

Denpa-bro! Great!
What are those albums? I can't get enough of it!
Great email address as well.
Do you have a skype?

on the right: Momobako's Puchimomo
on the left: Poyachio's Petit Rhythm Kyun
they're in the RTL archive, if you want them

I've made a bunch of skypes, but have always forgot them. I could make another one if you want.
>>
>>23983847
Sure, that would be nice. I don't know about what things we could chat about other than denpa though.
Btw, have you listened to IOSYS' denpa collections? Those have been blowing my mind lately, with their Denpa chan collection being one of my favorite albums ever.
>>
>>23983866
>Btw, have you listened to IOSYS' denpa collections?
I've listened to some of it, yes. Mainly はいぱぁ電波これくしょん! アメイジング炎上編 and まじかるジゴワット. Honestly, the songs they include in their collections are hit and miss for me; I like Poyachio's collections a lot more.

>>23983277
FF9 is best FF, well done.

>>23981396
More eldergod-tier videogame choices.

>>23980175
Amazing TV shows and a good choice of the 'One thing you couldn't live without'.

>>23980008
Sunbather is awesome, if you take out some of the boring 'interludes'.

>>23979813
Droogs for days.

>>23979107
Seem like you'd be cool to hang and play vidya with.

>>23979019
Super half-assed, but it works.

>>23978936

Quick question, do you I identify as an Anarchist? or something else?
>>
>>23987728
Used to be all about anarcho communism but that's idealism. Not sure what you'd call me at this point.
>>
>>23987744
Ah, I fall more within the Anarcho-Syndicalism area.
