Assuming we get to merge are minds with computers and live for billions of years could we create a time dilution effect and make is so that say one second in real life is actually a year in computer world?
>>7751862
It's called Windows.
>>7751862
sure . every civilization does it once they realize exploring space is retarded.
>>7753039
Yeah, I bet you can't name one civilization that did not do it
Black is the absence of light.
Light needs to enter our eyes to see.
How then can we see black paint?
Are our eyes actually seeing black paint, or are they actually seeing the essence of the paint itself?
A question best left to philosophers.
Black paint does not exist, there are only dark shades of blue, grey, brown, etc.

literally right now i am seeing like 10 things painted black
>tfw a certain chemical compound like alcohol makes us feel good
Explain this shit
>>7751729
Ethanol is a magical compound, you can find it labelled as "alcoholic", that's the government's method of saying "this drink will relax you and give you a good time".
You shouldn't question it's magic, but rather accept it.
>>7751729
it doesn't, it's poison.
That's why you can vomit btw
>>7751733
I just wanna know how it works and how it was discovered
Why is VSEPRT even taught? It's absolute shit. Why not just teach Hamilton Functions off the bat instead of lying to chem majors until they take PChem junior year? VSEPRT needs to go into the trash alongside Rutherford and Bohr models.
That's not a very good stick man.
THANK YOUUUUUUYYY
>>7751694
Most people start off as chemistry majors with not even one semester of calculus.
Alright y'all fuck wads listen up. I found the solution to the energy crisis right here and I'm not even messing around.
So I got to thinking. What if we put a giant ass funnel in front of a wind turbine to make the wind all go right up in there like pic related. A flawless idea except for one thing. It's pretty fucking expensive to build giant ass funnels.
So I got a solution all up in here and it will be in the next picture.
Ba Boom.
You know that giant ass pole they all sit on? A big fucking pile of wasted potential. So we take that pile of waste and turn it into something useful. Straight up more effective windmills all up in here. Suck a dick geothermal energy, you just got pwned.
We cut it in half, flip it sideways, and make it catch that wind yo. It's gotta be concave and shit of course. But it sends that wind straight up in there.
? There's no energy crisis since nuclear fission is a thing.
You know windmills have brakes because they some times already cannot handle the amount of wind incoming? You're just gonna break it
Is memology a valid form of science?

If some variations of people need to be destroyed for evolution to happen what happens when people learn to stop dying?
>>7751501
Confirmed.

You'd have to be as stupid as an engineer to think that it isn't.
Hello /sci/
Do we have any geologists here?
My friend gave me a piece of a rock. He tells me it's a piece of meteorite but I'm not sure. I think it looks a little too perfect, and it isn't magnetic. Is it a type of cannon ball or a ball used in a large tumbler or grinder? The pieces on the inside are quite brittle.
What is it?
>>7751331
Here's a shot of the outside.
Looks like schist.
Everything looks like schist.
Wow where did he get it? That is a meteorite and it's rare. I have seen smaller ones like that sell for around 6 thousand usd. Do you plan on selling? Would you mind giving me contact info?
Is listening to music while studying detrimental to your performance in studying?
I heard that music with vocals is detrimental and instrumental music actually enchances your performance. What do you know about this?
>>7751269
Who is this semen demon?
>>7751269
Music with vocals is distracting anon. You try to read a book while you've got someone singing a catchy tune in the background and you're gonna have a bad time. It's like trying to count something while you've got someone yelling out random numbers at you (or even worse, counting something else out loud).
>>7751269
I like to study in complete silence.
However, this is often hard to attain and so I find it helpful to listen to music since it removes any outside sources of noise. I found that the best kind is relaxing and repetitive piano music, such as Satie's Gymnopédies, since it's a nice but non-distracting background.
Songs, on the other hand, are way too distracting for me; at times I risk to start singing along instead of keep studying.
What does /sci/ think of chemical engineers?
Chemistry is fucking hard. It's really hard to apply too though...
>>7751224
A SHIT
>>7751224
It's a meme degree.
Who /sliderule/ here?
>>7751050
I have two. The best of the two was from the early 1940s.
I took one to a computer science final exam once, but I had a calculator for backup. That was in 1998 or so.
The T.A. picked it up and played with it for a few minutes. I don't think he knew how to use it.
Use a calculator you fucking autists
>>7751054
My parents got me a new Faber-Castell 2/83N for Christmas. I need to pick up a used pocket-size one that I can actually use regularly though.
Should I go into Life Science (specifically gentech/biochem) if I want to research biological immortality and cell regeneration and maybe cure some diseases in my spare time?
Since Artificial Intelligence and robotics are growing rapidly I think it's time we advance biological intelligence, cell / organic regeneration techniques also to compete against the machines. Why should they have parts that are easily replaceable and we shouldn't ? My superb intelligence could help humanity in this aspect.
Or should I give up the flesh and go full computer/A.I/robotic...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
The fuck is life science?
That's medsci right?
That's if you want to examine stool samples for disease.
But I think you are overall mistaking science for wizardry.
>>7751051
>The fuck is life science?
biology
>>7751055
Why the shit didn't you just say biology then?
Oh wait, this is a troll thread anyway.
I need to start reading posts before responding to them.
ITT: Cool shit that you wish somebody had shown you when you were a kid/undergraduate
What's cool about that?
>>7751032
If you can't see the pattern you're retarded.
>>7751200
every number can be bit shifted so as to have a 1 in the lsb?
Why are humans the ONLY race in real life capable of communicating in a semi-intelligent manner? Why didn't another species evolve to be just as smart/smarter than us?
How fucking cool would it be to NOT be the smartest race on the planet anymore?
I just feel like there's something missing in the world, honestly. Something we need.
Think of how cool it would be to understand another being by simply communicating with them.
Sure, people talk to their dogs, but that's nowhere near the level I'm talking about.
We killed them all before burning the books and changing history.
>>7750964
In the future when Indochinamen best race, only race, suggesting white elves, dwarves and negroes as anything but fantasy creatures or rare medical abnormalities will be laughable and will cost 500 model citizen points.
>>7750959
>How fucking cool would it be to NOT be the smartest race on the planet anymore?
Not cool at all.
They would exterminate us or make us their pets.
What have you done to make the world more beautiful /sci/?
i saged ur thread to make 4chan more beautiful
fukked ur mum
>>7750939
Convinced a fatty to kill itself.
What science related toys do you have/recommend? Things like telescopes, lasers, microscopes etc
>>7750894
>a gambling fallacy is that red is less likely to turn up after a string of reds
pic confirmed for shit
>>7750948
No sure where you read that
>>7750894
I personally own a telescope. I love it. It's a relaxing activity to do at the end of the day and gets the imagination going. It's also something that keeps the mind busy since skill is involved in finding whatever it is you want to look at.
