Look who is talking.
is it possible to dual major in two different fields of engineering?
>>7755586
become an EE and you are whatever you want.

This.
I'm doubling in EE and math.
Literally any career in my future.

I was considering EE and ME
>particles are way too small for us to see or feel

Tell me again how higgs boson isn't just a big ruse.

Statistically significant abnormalities in decay products and patterns.
It explains why the weak force has such a short range.
>>7755571
Make a set of instruments that can feel the particles, based on decades of research and development.
Can now prove they exist (or not, which is more interesting).
Use a machine that can smash particles together based on decades of research and development.
Show images generated using the output of the instruments to give something to the people who want to feel smart but who wont read the research papers generated that will have the actual results and what they mean.
Naming your new theoretical particle...

Taller than the tallest steel building, since diamond is the hardest metal.

Any metallurgyfags around here?
Specifically steels. Technically this is /k/ related, but the question is really a metallurgical one. If I wanted to manufacture a gas piston-like device for a rifle meant to receive a small volume of high temperature, high pressure gas (peak of ~20000PSI for around 6 milliseconds) while resisting rust, ablative wear, heat cycling, and standard abrasive friction wear, what kind of stainless would I need?
Keep in mind, being easy to machine would be a bonus. I was thinking 440F (free machining 440 stainless), but data sheet indicates...

What is the quickest way to learn the fundamentals of chemistry and biology?
I want to be well rounded in the basics of fields other than physics&math, but don't really want to read the typical ~1000 page introductory textbooks on the subjects.
>>7755277
Well, chemistry is applied physics, so if you know physics and math you should be able to figure out chemistry. From there you can derive biochemistry, and then biology.
Sorry OP, you won't get around reading that introductory textbook. There are more and less extensive ones, just one get one for college minors.
>>7755282
>deriving an entire field takes less time than reading a textbook
>>7755286
Well, OP specifically mentioned that he didn't want to read the textbook.
Hey /sci/, I have a question for you. Considering there are nearly 7 billion humans on earth who shit once or twice every day, where do all the turds go? When you think about it the numbers seems insurmountable. How come we aren't swimming in human feces? Please explain
>>7755252
it goes to indian beaches
>>7755252
Oddly, it all goes to the landfill. Sewage processing plants filter and purify the water for reuse, while shipping off all the solid waste
The world isn't as small as you think
Which of these should I take before Calculus 1? What would I be missing?
I would be taking 022 and 026 together during the same semester.
021, I don't need to take as I test out of it by a mile, but is the prerequisite for 041.
Am I cucking myself by taking the one 041 class or should I take 022/026 together to have a solid review? 041 would only be 4 credits while 022/026 would be 6 credits.

are you a failed business major turned engineering major?
Why does the second law of thermodynamics not apply to the universe as a whole?
I mean, under the big bang theory, it goes from extremely small, compact, homogenized, and featureless to, well, this; all sorts of orders, classifications, distinct types of matter, irregular forms, separate structures. That seems like a patent DECREASE of entropy.
Am I grossly misreading things? I assume I'm not the first to ask the question; if its a correct interpretation, what are prevailing theories regarding if?
Picture unrelated. I hope.
The 2nd law does apply to the universe as a whole.
Sounds like you learned the meme definition of entropy. Spend some time understanding what entropy is and your question will be answered.
>>7754841
Gravitational clumping lowers entropy.
>>7754870
No it don't. Clumping releases photons so the entropy still goes up overall.
>pass Differential Equations with an A
>able to do the calculations and such
>don't understand what the fuck I am doing
How fucked am I as an engineer? Pic related. I don't even know what this equation is suppose to be used for in real life. In other words, I don't know how to apply any of the Math. Truth this, this started in Calculus II. I just considered the Math alphabet soup and went through the motions.
>How fucked am I as an engineer?
You're like any other engineer, what's the problem? They do their job too.
>>7754722
You learn the tools in a Math class and you learn to apply them in your Engineering classes. Don't worry too much.
>>7754722
>How fucked am I as an engineer?
It kinda depends. A lot of mediocre engineers just plug numbers into stock equations and use the results without even thinking about them and it works for them, career-wise. That being said, if you have a "feel" for the math, you can be a lot more productive and successful as an engineer.

I will be very surprised if this doesn't turn into a global warming debate/politics thread and I'm sure that was your intention. Fuck you OP.
