Is getting a biology degree just entirely memorization?
I mean they might have to know how to do log/exponent questions for answering questions about population, but I mean couldn't someone with an photographic memory just read a biology textbook to ace a biology exam?

Math involves having to use logic. You can't just memorize a math textbook and expect to ace a math test. You have to be able to apply it.

I graduated high school with subpar grades 6 years ago. I like to think I'm pretty smart if I apply myself. I'm thinking about going back to school for electrical engineering. Would most of it be over my head going in after a 6 year education gap?

if you're actually smart then you should be able to get your head around everything necessary to start uni within a year. get the books and study like a madcunt.
So what's going to happen here?
In 2001 the UN estimated carrying capacity at 4-16bn with a median of 10. This has more recently been revised down, but let's stick with 10bn for now. At the current rate of growth, we'll hit 10bn in about 35 years.
Do you think there will be drastic improvements in technology that will allow us to sustain this number? If not, should we be aiming for zero growth and how would you go about this?

Several reasons.
The field itself is generalized and not used for anything special, you'll never really be making any large contributions to human knowledge or advancement unless it's just a stepping stone. Being a cog in a machine or a hard worker is fine and good, but also kind of mediocre.
It's also oversaturated by idiots. There's countless assholes who go into it wanting to 'make video games' or 'become a hacker xD'. The most annoying part of a group is also the most vocal, so they're the ones that most of us see...

So my younger sisters algebra 1 teacher gave this problem
Fruit basket is filled with 60 ounces of fruit (apples and oranges). Apples weigh 4 ounces, oranges weigh 2 ounces. How many oranges are there?
If asked 20 people, and we agreed there are multiple answers because of the lack of info, but when my sis turned it in, her teacher marked it wrong, and told her she didn't do enough work.
So is there a specific answer to this?
