How do I star to teach myself higher level math? I was lazy and didn't take the classes in High School. Is Khan Academy good?
>>7796539
Also I'm a senior in HS right now (I'm 18 don't worry) I made it to Geometry in math, not because I'm not smart, I would have my work done in 8 minutes, but because I had numerous AP classes.
>>7796539
yep, do khan academy.
>>7796562
Thanks, it actually looks really good and easy to use.
Will we ever have a Stargate worm hole?
If space and time are merely the network of entanglements between particles could there be way to change the stitching of the universe and travel anywhere or when we want?

it's even worse, friend
Pretty sure a FTL wormhole like in stargate would violate causality.
Also if you went through a wormhole you would still experience time dilation meaning once you exited out of it years/decades/centuries would have went by depending on the distance travelled.
Why is the middle point in the Simpsons rule taken 4 times, why not just take it one time and divide by 3 instead of 6? I dont get it
>>7796497
That's just the rule. If you did what you said you would get a less accurate answer. Try a Monte Carlo simulation if you don't believe me.
>>7796497
In fact your suggestion is even worse than the trapezoid rule, for God's sake.
I want to go through SICP. I also want to go through another few things. What's the best thing to do. Go through a little bit of each thing on each day, or go through each thing in big uninterrupted sections (e.g. go through a fifth of SICP without stopping).
Just getting started with it. I'm just following the syllabus/calendar

A cylindrical can with a radius of 20cm is being filled with water at a rate of 2 ft3 . How fast is the height of the water increasing?
Define variables.
§ Determine formulas and/or equations.
§ Show all the procedure of the differentiation.
§ Express the results in the context of the problems (statements).

what's the content of your "story"? nothing fucking happened

I opened up a closet door thinking it was the auditorium and couldn't close it. You think it wasn't noticeable? I feel embarrassed.
>>7796370
So the whole thing is a metaphor for you coming out of the closet? How kafkaesque. Truly a literary masterpiece. Give this man a noble prize.
The casimir effect in physics proves that negative energy exists. So why isn't more research being done on negative energy /sci/? Its literally are only hope of ever stabilising a wormhole to transverse at FTL speeds.
define "negative energy"
>>7796257
>The casimir effect in physics proves that negative energy exists
no it doesn't.
>>7796257
No.... it can be used to measure the energy of the Vacuum? Unless I did physics wrong.
Hey /sci/
Would any of you folks happen to have a pdf of this book?
I would greatly appreciate it if you can send me a copy.
Cheers

Do you understand how the internet works?

Yeah,
Would you send me a copy of the string of 1's and 0's that a file of this book in pdf version would have.
Do tards just want to point shit out without thinking all the time?
Is there anything to the idea of an energy being, or would it just be completely unstable without matter?
define "being". is it an entity with a consciousness or atleast something with cognition?
>>7796100
That's what I mean, something which could be considered sentient.
Then no. Cognition comes from the information process of neural nets, like a jellyfish or like a brain. The neural pathways have to be stable and made from matter so the electrons can send signals the right way to operate itself. You can't have cognition without a solid and stable system, therefore you can't have a being made out of just energy.
What if the reason that there is not a strong immune response to cancers is because the effective antibodies do not make it out of the thymus?
>>7796049
>What if
Fuck off
>>7796049
Well in a way, they don't make it out of the thymus. Because they're never instructed to.
If only we could selectively modify the epitope of cancerous cells to warrant an immune response.

Hi /sci/ !!!
I want to intern to $BIGCOMPANY but haven't reached the Algorithms course in my university yet, so I'm taking this course in Algorithms and Data Structures.
The approach is practical: they have coded a small text editor and want students to implement extra features.
So basically they're going to explain you stuff like tree and tries and how they are used to implement, say, word completion, and then you can complete the simple text editor with such features.
I like this approach /sci/, what is your opinion?
Can...

For reference: https://www.coursera.org/learn/data-structures-optimizing-performance
>>7795878
Can't you implement them without the extra hand holding?
For Data Structure:
>Data Structures and Algorithms in C++ by Drozdek
For Algorithms with implementation details:
>Algorithms in C++ Parts 1-5: Fundamentals, Data Structures, Sorting, Searching, and Graph Algorithms by Sedgewick
>>7795999
I learn way better by doing actual coding that by mere theoretical study.
My approach would be to take this mooc now and study all of the details of various algorithms and data structures later when i reach the algorithms and data structure course at my university.
