So, /sci/, getting into higher and higher semesters, I have to do more presentations especially in physics-related classes. I use Latex to write in general but presentations don't look better than Office using Latex.
So, I wondered, what software do you use? Is there something particularly useful for sciences?

When I was thirteen, my mom made me pull out a bunch of flowers from her garden box and they caused me to get a huge, painful rash all along my arms. And now it's years later and I'm trying to figure out what kind of plant it was. I know I'd recognize it if I saw it, but thus far Google and the sites Google pulls up have been useless.

I cannot for the life of me understand how the voltage in this electrical system works.
The voltage used is in the european system. For the U.S it will be 220V for L1-L2 and 110V L1-N.
What I cannot comprehend is the voltage drop when L1 or L2 is connected to the Neutral wire, cause I've been told that the current won't actually be flowing though the neutral, but it will go from L1 to Neutral then return via L2, but how come the voltage drops to 230 then?
What makes the path different if you just skip the little piece of interconnecting...

How do you learn from books faster?
Everytime there is something I don't understand in a book, it took me really long to figure out. Sometimes it took me days.
However, if I have a chance to ask my professor or anyone who knew about the material, I can get it pretty much instantly.
Of course professors and helpers are not always available for everything I want to learn, so I have to study with books alone most of the time. But I find it not very productive that I can't read books faster than I was supposed to.
I think I did it wrong but I don't know...

The book is about 800-1000 pages.
For those with 300-400 pages, It took me about 1-2 months.
you need to read them more then once to grasp the material.
also you should train yourself to read faster. 50 pages per day and it should take you 6-8 days to read a 300-400 page book. maybe two weeks tops if you're being really lazy.
I also sometimes take notes of important terminology that just won't get into my head rather then having to flip back and forth between the pages.

How do I get funding for an invention? It's simple enough for me to build a prototype but to take it further I will need more money. Has anyone on /sci/ ever invented and marketed anything?
