I want to study STEM but maths has never been intuitive for me. I am the opposite of an analytical detail focused pedant, the type that seems to dominate maths. Textbooks can sometimes misguide you so it really clears up many doubts. Also, if the professor is really good he could make it worth it. Exams can also cover shit not in the program if the professor decides it. Emm and well, textbooks can be pretty difficult to maintain focus on even if the subject is interesting.
