BS in bio and geo, working on my MS in geo
there's good money to be made in petroleum and mining, otherwise you work in academia or for surveying organizations.
I'm a paleofag so I'm definitely in academia. the only use oil companies have for paleontology is biostratigraphy and conodont color alteration

I only know geology major and he went geology so he could focus on playing football and getting drunk because he figured it was easy enough that he didn't need to study. Also his dad worked in a mine and so he thought rocks and tunnels were moderately interesting.
He was pretty much correct afaik.

You can't add 2 square roots unless a=b.
How do I get the inequality in (56) ?
I suspect it involves the triangular inequality but I can't work out the details.
Are the dangers of smoking overblown?
No. But do what you want, it will be good for natural selection
Weed? If anything, it's not acknowledged enough. The smoke does seriously irritate your lungs. Not like tar of cigarettes, but any small particles in your lungs will irritate it. Not just from the paper, but from the plant material as well. Vaping it is okay I guess. Nothing wrong with pure THC.

I want to work for google, first as a software engineer then as a researcher into immortality at calico labs. Lastly I would transition to neurological and cyberdization so I can lend a hand in the transhumanist effort once google unveils that department. All the while I want to work on making robots at boston dynamics for fun when I have vacation time.

It's a racket. I know ppl close to the project. They aren't close to anything beneficial to anyone but Google's brand.
are there any majors outside of STEM that are actually worthwhile and come with decent job offerings?
All you ever seem to read online about non STEM field majors is how they are unemployed now.
nope
Actually it's STEM that has way more graduates than jobs, precisely because of this retarded circlejerking.
>>7915524
College isn't job training, retard. If you want job training then go to a fucking trade school.

Is taking notes actually fucking necessary?
I'm in year 3 engineering now and have written thousands and thousands of pages of notes. Realistically, I never really look back at them (maybe a quick glance while I'm doing a practice problem). Even before a test or a final I don't review notes, I just do practice problems.
My question is - Why do people take notes? Why not just write down the relevant formulas, make them make sense in your head through reading, and then just do practice questions?
This is coming from a guy who didn't take...

Also, to clarify: For non technical courses, or more elaborate explanations of some scientific processes, shorthand notes are of course necessary. But for any math or physics course ever, why do people even write "notes" down? Shouldn't one put themselves in the situation where they have the problem in front of them and have to think about what they just read from the text/heard from the lecture to apply it to a problem? Why spend hours and hours copying notes?

>If you don't score above 80% in your STEM subjects, you shouldn't be studying/pursuing a career in STEM
Is this true /sci/? Every bio I've read about phd students, post docs, lecturers, TA and professors, all have immaculate academic records or atleast well above a 80% average overall
>tfw 65% average in my bachelors in Math so far
>>7915068
65 % sounds like a lot to me, the passing rate for exams in my chem BSc is never significantly higher and sometimes lower than that.
But most of what I heard from TA is that they usually are good, but not constant overachievers. Profs are straight outstanding, no exception I know of.
I also plan to pursue a career in STEM, what I have been told is that grades in BSc matter really little and your MSc should just be good, but not necessarily better than straight B / < 2.0 / whatever the equivalent in Switzerland would be.
It's kind of funny. I have made A's on my first to Calculus tests but made a 50% on my Chemistry test. I should have just taken Physics instead of Chemistry. Chemistry fucking sucks and it looks like im going to stuck taking Chemistry 102 even though I am going into Comp Sci
In other words, JUST.

>I am going into Comp Sci

If you hate chemistry so much right now, physics would've made you suicide.

Let's suppose there exist an infinite number of positive integers.
Let's consider all the postive integers that can be defined in the english language with a sentence of less than 1000 characters.
A sentence is a definition of a number if one and only one number correspond to the sentence. (not all sentences define a number)
It is easy to see that there is a finite number of sentences of less than 1000 characters, since there is an infinite number of positive integers, obviously some numbers can't be defined with less than 1000 characters.
Let's...
