I've been thinking about the future and I want advice on how best to raise a child academically, in light of a very fierce competitive globalized environment. Choosing for them is in avoidable. There's a reason children are basically second class citizen (can't financially sort themselves or make decisions of their own - think how they have to get their parents signature)
If you don't want to be over bearing just get them interesting in what you want (I'm assuming stem)
Just do those junior experiments such as mouse trap car. Marble rollercoaster. Rockets. Penny water surface tension. Card board boat races. Raising butterflies.

Comp sci PhD student here. I'm going to a conference in a couple of months to show a paper I wrote, but I was asked to put together a "technical poster" for some workshop the University is hosting beforehand.
Never done a "technical poster" before. Got any tips for software to use before I make something mediocre in powerpoint?
Ideally I'd like something that lets me show process flows clearly.

There's something about chance that I just don't get.
Say there's a system with 1/4 chance of printing A instead of B. If it prints four B's in a row, won't it be more likely that there's an A coming next? I mean the chances still are 1/4 in theory but it feels as if the chance of A increases with each printed B.
Is that just perception's fault?
