Reptiles are mammals that evolved into dinosaurs

adding to that,

avians are still technically reptiles, them and other reptiles diverged from some of the original reptiles. some publications list them as non-avian/avian reptiles and others just separate the two. You can still consider birds to be reptiles or their own things, avians.

However, even this can vary because ever since cladograms shifted from anatomical/physiological into genetical, cladograms have become a straight-up clusterfuck so don't be surprised if this conception changes.

I got a 36 from basically just doing a few practice tests. Here's my secret :
pay attention in class and you'll learn most of what you need to know and therefore not need to study much. This means: don't get old tests from mates, put effort into the homework and assignments
Yeah, I headed to /tg/ first but literally the first thread I saw was about a game called Gang Rape.

So I figured /sci/ would be a better source.

Thanks on the wiki articule btw.

>win the presidency by a landslide?
Historically, 49% of U.S. Presidential elections have been won by a man that did not receive a majority of the popular vote.
Taft was the first to break 60%.
Lindon Johnson has the all-time record of 63%.
Unless you count the electoral college, no-one has ever won a landslide in the POTUS election.
And the Donald *may* actually have a number of "faithless electors".
Besides, Hillary is the favorite to win so far.

I don't think the mods are too keen on LaTeX-specific threads, but we'll see what happens. In the meantime, I'm not the OP, and I've devised some /sci/ - specific best practices for formatting TeX on this board.

1. Always Always Always begin your code with \displaystyle, which has the global effect of enlarging large operators such as Summations, fractions, and integral signs. This simultaneously makes your product look much better, and it also /makes it more legible on this forum/.

2. Never Never Never allow back-slash characters, denoting...

I just started learning topology and I don't understand this example. The infinite union of all finite subsets of N (members of T4) would surely produce a set of all natural numbers? Wouldn't this set belong to T4 (N)? Why is it not?
20 replies and 3 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
It doesn't contain one, but it's infinite.

So it isn't N, it isn't a finite subset, and it isn't the empty set.
>>
>>8067007
Its missing {1} so it cant be N
Just like if you only picked even numbers you'd have a subset not in the topology

This is a perfect question for /sqt/...

Is this doable? I'm 23 and thinking of maybe signing up next semester, not working today but I'm looking for something, I can't be 5 more years just studying or I'll be fucking kicked out.

To say something I don't mind about studying Calculus and Physics on my own, but later classes like Intro to Microprocesors, Logical Design, Linear Systems and other advanced courses have the most fucked up schedules (like unique classes at 10am, 12am, 2pm), and also I don't know how doable it is working 8 fucking hours and having not much time to study.

Did anyone start studying mathematics late on your own or was everyone here a genius math wizard as a kid? I fell for the STEM meme and I'm starting from the very beginning as I never cared much in school, doing Khan Academy and reading books and all. But even when it's piss easy it's taking me so long and whenever I see college level stuff I lose motivation easily. I have nothing else going for me so I'm doing my best, but I worry I'm doing it wrong so does anyone have any tips? Anything could help.

I'm doing the same. Treat it like a set of skills. Don't get discouraged by the grad students who are breezing through ant and pick pre-sheaves out of their teeth after breakfast. The hodge theaters will come later. Start with single digit addition. Don't be too proud. Since addition is easy, you have to go for speed, since you already understand the concept. Eventually, even though it seems silly, with enough repetition, you'll start getting an intuition for the numbers- you'll start seeing...

scale of 1-10 how hard is aerospace engineering
47 replies and 3 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>8066813
about as hard as vanilla mechanical engineering. the difficulty is in getting a job in your field.
>>
>>8066816
This. Even finding a school that offers it can be tough.

So, since the hiring pool is relatively small, you can pretty much count on your competition coming from the most prestigious schools in the country.
>>
>>8066813
2nd year aero engineer at a world top 10 uni in both the field and in general rankings here.

The other anons' posts about difficulty being comparable to Mech Eng is correct-that is don't expect a smooth easy ride through university.

As for jobs, the prospects are bright and aero engineers are consistently among the best paid majors out there. If you can't find an aerospace job, you can do literally any other mechanical engineering job.

I would wager that they are not more likely to hold these beliefs, its just that people are more likely to listen when intelligent people say stuff like that.

virtually every major physicist that has won the nobel prize believed in eugenics, sterilization of the less intelligent and population control

Nope. A lot of great scientists and Nobel prize winners with extreme high level of intelligence are Ashkenazi Jews and I'm sure they definitely won't support something like this after all things happened to them. They clearly understand what the point of view like that can lead to, so your post is just your subjective opinion.

/sci/, how can I help bring forth the singularity?

Plan is to become an AGI researcher; almost done with my master's (compsci) but not sure how to find a fitting phd position - there is at best tangentially generic "machine learning" shit available, and I don't have any special qualifications to expect to be accepted anywhere else over the expected hordes of I-want-to-suck-deep-learnings-cock-cucks.

I am a German citizen only if that changes anything.

Hello /sci/. Greetings from /tg/!

I am currently working on a science fiction setting, and for several reasons I would like to know if it's possible for stars to be any weird colors. For example, I looked up that potassium chloride burns purple. Would it be possible for a star to achieve fusion with a large amount of potassium chloride it's make up?

Alternatively, if that would be completely fucking retarded and I should kill myself, before I grab a rope is there a scientifically possible way to explain stars being vastly different colors than usual?

The color of the light depends mainly on the mass and at what part of his lifespan the star has reached.

The "peer review" meme is damaging the scientific progress:

>Peer review switches from merely useless to actively harmful. It may be ineffective at keeping papers with analytic or methodological flaws from being published, but it can be deadly effective at suppressing criticism of a dominant research paradigm.
