Wojak was a Polish tripfig who posted the original pic first on Vichan and then on Krautchan. The pic was first known as "warm face" (an allusion to coolface, also known as trollface) and "Wojak's face". The latter name was later shortened to Wojak. In 2011, the Wojak image spread to 4chan's /int/ and /r9k/ and became popular especially on the latter board because its users believed Wojak represented their feel(ing)s well. About three years later, /r9k/ and [s4s] released pic related, Smug Wojak. It's an undisputed masterpiece; a meme so dank most people probably don't read about its history, but they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of overcoming bad feelings and the importance of self-reflection, it's also a personal statement about OC-creators themselves!
