Just like we haven't truly biologically evolved past the mental state of hunter gatherers (a stage of humanity that we shed 10s of thousands of years ago) I believe we still haven't mentally and emotionally (honestly) past animism. Intellectually we can (and obviously have) conceived and constructed spiritual, philosophical and metaphysical systems much more complex than animism, but the way we express our biology in day to day living hasn't taken a step beyond it.
Most people would 200% happier if they recognized the signs of this in their life and tried to experience animism in a meaningful way instead of forcing a rigid ideological mindset that will never line up with who we are as animals and as individual people.
