Let's see just how intelligent you anti-racists are...
2⁄3
1 out of 3 obviously.
3 boxes, only one satisfies the condition.

Actually both answers are true depending on how you interpret the question.
Before taking one ball there is a 1/3 chance, after taking one ball there is a 1/2 chance.
Is this a form of monty hall
>>4307305
(Still me) its 50 percent
1 part you have left box
1 part you have middle box
0 chance you have left box
>>4307287
>>4307256
Both wrong.
gold/gold box = GG, etc.
P(GG | see gold coin) = P(see gold coin | GG) / (P(see gold coin))
P(GG | see gold coin) = P(see gold coin | GG) / (P(see gold coin | GG) + P(see gold coin | GS) + P(see gold coin | SS))
P(GG | see gold coin) = 1 / (1+ 1/2 + 0)
P(GG | see gold coin) = 1 / (3/2)
P(GG | see gold coin) = 2/3

I don't know
>>4307234
it's 2/3 cuz u have a two out of three chance of picking a box that has at least one gold ball. the first ball removed doesn't change the odds. it's kinda like the monty hall thing.
>>4308196
hmm.. but on second thought since the first ball is always gold the box could never be the one with two silver balls... so i'd argue that box shouldn't be considered in the odds.
the ppl saying 50% chance are right i guess.
confusing problem.
it's clearly 66,666666...% cuz infinitubs don't lie
50-50
>>4307234
high
>>4308209
no i've thought about it and i'm sure it's 50%.
here is how i'm thinking:
if you pick a random box and take two balls out of the same box there is a 2/3 chance that they will be the same color and a 1/3 chance they will be mixed. it's 50/50 which color your first ball is.
BUT bcuz the problem specifies that the first ball is always gold then that means the silver only box effectively doesn't exist, so u either picked the mixed or gold only box, and there is a 1/2 chance of it being either one.
>>4307234
So picking a box at random, gives 1/3 probability per box.
But what now? How do I need to proceed that equation? I need to multiply 1/3 * [some probability covering the boxes content]
>>4308233
nice dubs :^)
i think im doing it right
>>4308245
this guy has the right idea
>>4308257
it is equal cuz they have to come out of the same box.
it can't be the SS box cuz first one is always gold.
it could be either the GS or GG box. if we could pick a different box for the second ball it would be uneven.
>>4308263
1 / (1 + 1/2)

you're the worst, leave! :)
I correct myself, it's 1/3 * 1/2 because you have to pick a box in the first place and then the chance is 50/50
that means it's 1/6

it's all LoLo's fault. bitch ruined the thred as soon as her fat ass posted in it
This one almost got me, but the probability that the next ball you take from the same box will also be gold is ½.
If you took a gold ball from the box, it can't have been the box with two silver balls, because there are no gold balls in that box. Therefore, the box you took the ball from can only be either the box with two gold balls or the box with a gold ball and a silver ball.
If you took a ball from the box with two gold balls, then the next ball you take will also be gold, but if you took a ball from the box with one gold ball and one silver ball, and you took a gold ball from that box, then the next ball you take will be silver.
There are two boxes you could've taken one gold ball from, and one box which you can take a second gold ball from. One divided by two equals ½. Quod erat demonstrandum.
