I believe I have created the worlds first dubs based clock that runs, of course, on a novel dubs based time system.
In order to tell what hour it is you take one dubs integer from the first set of dubs, and add it to one dubs integer from the second set of dubs. In order to get a rough estimation of the minutes you take the ratio of the two dubs based integers, setting the first dubs based integer as the numerator, and the second dubs based integer as the denominator.
As an example of how this dubs based time system works we will take the sixth hour of the day, which would be represented by “6:00” on a traditional clock. I will list traditional time in the left column, and dubs based time in the right column.
“6:00”---”00:66”
“6:10”---”11:55” (1+5=6 and approx. 1/5 of an hour has passed)
“6:30”---”22:44”
“6:45”---”33:33” (3+3=6 and almost another additional hour has passed)
The astute reader will notice that at noon you will get a much more detailed sense of time than at 1:00pm where you will only get sense of whether it is before 1:30pm or after (00:11 and 11:00 respectively)
Despite the occasional lack of detail of my dubs clock, I still find it to be much preferable to a dubsless alternative for going about my day to day business. If I need to urgently be somewhere at a specific time I will have an alarm set on my phone.
