All the parents think those things are cute but in reality it is just a measure of how well your kid can talk about his feelings.
Ive seen those for kids as young as three, most of the time the kids pick green because they are being cheered on by the teacher, they don't even generally know what yellow means until like kindergarten

I had already finished high school by then. Nobody really cared how you were feeling when I was in elementary school. If you were bad you got separated from the class or you got detention or you got sent to the principal's office and that was the end of it. Maybe they called your parents if you kept getting in trouble or did something egregious, but it was basically just the school saying, "look at the shit your kid is doing."
I still can't get over the fact that chalk boards and overhead projectors aren't being used in classrooms any more.

We had some holdover chalkboards in a few classes at my school before I graduated. I went back and visited recently, and a lot of rooms were upgraded with smart boards. A lot of teachers still use overhead projectors though. At university, the level of technology is pretty much dependent on the classroom and building your section's in. And regardless of whatever new age hippie shit they're using in schools now, I doubt they actually care about how students turn out. Individual instructors might, but the system just wants to churn out better test scores for more funding.
