In MHO you're running before you can walk.
The picture quality is paramount and is second only to ability. This pic is 800x800 and its over saturated. Another big no-no is the top is very dark and she has light skin.
If you want to learn, watch tutorials on YT as to what is good and what is bad. Don't start with things like this. Get large images, 1500+ if you can. "FLearn" and "Bluelighting.tv" is where I learned on YT and I'm always learning.
I use PS CS6 myself, but the thing I would say is start small. Trial and error, play with select and levels, filters and masks.
