I started as freehand drawing and just transferred my skills to photoshop. I do it all in PS now but have learned to do it quickly. Some things like smoothing skin I created my own actions and apply them to speed up the process. I start with manually reshapping the face (forehead and jaw) then I manually add details to lips, eyes, nose and makeup to the cheekbones to give them more definition.

This was a lot easier because the lighting and resolution were decent. I piled on the slut makeup for you, plumped he lips, made her eyes a little wider , and added heaps of makeup.
