4chan is a social website. No matter how much the original intent of the board was to create a completely anonymous community, it's impossible to upkeep. Hence why tripfags are a phenomena, and /soc/ is a thing.
In light of this, 4chan has adopted an anathema towards social interactions outside of anonymity. There is a constant stream of hate (and mutes/bans) for people who want to meet with their fellow anons outside of the tertiary aspect of board & post communication. How many people on 4chan have an interest on anime/manga but don't browse /a/? I'm asking this because /mu/ isn't a very popular board despite everyone listening to music.
I just use them as reaction images I found on the boards I browse.
I have no interest in the vast majority of /a/ memes and airing series, but I will very occasionally step into a thread for a series I like.
I lurk /a/, but rarely post. I don't like discussing things that I actually like.

The average /a/ thread only gets as far as 300 posts. The remaining 200 posts are circlejerk shit, or people mindlessly bumping the thread in order to continue with their /c/ tier image dump thread.
There are no discussions going on in old, 3 day threads.

They should make it so a single IP can only bump a specific thread twice.
Or make it so once a thread reaches page 7 (or any other arbitrarily chosen page) it starts to autosage and can no longer be bumped by anyone.
Or make it so a thread only gets bumped if it gets two (non-sage) replies from different IPs in the last 20 minutes (or any other arbitrarily chosen time period).
Or make it so any thread older than 3 hours (or any other arbitrarily chosen time period) starts to autosage and can no longer be bumped no matter how active it is.
