An anon brought up an interesting point in a thread earlier. Why have blue boards?
If you're on 4chan you obviously don't give a shit about porn or whatever else, seeing as most of us started out on /b/. Nsfw content can be relevant to discussion, and boards that shouldn't have porn can keep that rule enforced.

where is this 'other thread'?
Do Fandoms ever die or is it still alive as long as there are still fans of said show/book/movie?
Just something I've been thinking about lately
Well, it really depends. The X-Files fandom, for example, lasted 23 years, and now a new X-Files season is up, so they are probably going to last more 23 years.
If history is an indicator some fans move on and some remain fans until death.
They likely will cool off on that one fandom however and move on to other things, but that doesn't mean that always happens or that they are now officially not fans of their prior interest, unless they specifically had some kind of concrete falling-out with them. It just sent dormant for whatever reason.
One example I can think of are original Star Trek fans.. Besides the JJ Abrams movies, they probably mostly lie dormant about that unless you specifically dragged it out in conversation.
>>434316
Never. Fandoms are for people who have stalled in their emotional and social development. Expecting people like that to move on is a mistake.
>it's a /qa/ is mad about something insignificant again thread
Don't ever make another fucking thread again unless you're contributing to the board.
>It's a weeb thread trying to pretend they know jack shit besides anime
>>435038
Now this is something opinionated. What is very important to one person, might be worthless to the next.
Why people on /qa/ write long and complicated posts? I'm not native English speaker, but my English is sufficient to understand 99% of posts on every other board (and the majority of common Internet posts), but when I come here, people use unusual and expert phrases and words and I have to focus to understand what are they saying. Why can't they express themselves like a normal people? Are /qa/ users trying hard to look smarter than rest of 4chan?
If it's anything like /q/ was the people writing multi paragraph posts every time are janitors/mods. I'm not joking about it "like /q/" thing by the way that actually happened there and moot and to come admit it once.
>>434752
If you don't understand a word, copy and paste it into google, and type "define" before or after it. It should be able to give you a definition of the word.
No, they're just using words you don't know. These words are normal in USA.
What is this even supposed to mean?
>>433609
no fuckin idea some SJW meme
It comes from the old rumor that moot hosted 4chan on a bunch of apple minis.
>>433609
It means you need to lurk moar.
Must you block mobile AT&T ips? When did you guys start doing it? It works now for me but sometimes I get an IP that's in some blocked range. I never know what IP AT&T gives me either so I never know if I can post on 4chan from my phone until I try. It's been pretty inconvenient when I'm away from home for a long time, but what can I do.. Thought I'd post about it, though.
Anyone else experience any issues?
>>431668
>When did you guys start doing it?
>fully understands how easy it is to have a random IP assigned
Must you really ask?
>>431668
I think Ma Bell an 4chan have a long and sordid history.
Didn't AT&T cause a week of downtime for this site once about 5 years ago? My memories are vague but there was something about a DDoS and AT&T blocking 4chan from everyone or something like that. I doubt it's related to why they're blocking mobile IPs though.
>>431668
How about you stop posting from your phone, cancer.
I have been thinking. Is one of the fundamental problems with 4chan is that too many people end up spending too much time on here, like at least daily visits and posts? After all, the website began with a small fraction of the current number of boards and they covered much less niches. I am sure other boards came to be as people visited very often and would discuss niche subjects on /b/ (I have heard that this is where proto-/co/ was). This is conjecture because I have only been going on here relatively recently, where most of today's boards already existed.

I think you're right. The majority of the community LIVES on this fucking site, which is why you see people talking about "home boards" and other such bullshit and perceiving anyone who behaves differently from desired to be "not from this site." Like you said, the generals are a good example of it. This straight up obsessive behavior needs to stop, but it can only stop if the mods do something about it.
I think you're onto something there.
Definitely in the old days you just couldn't stay online for that long. There simply wasn't enough around online. I personally watched more TV and played more console games in that era.
Today, people are watching twitch streams and youtube videos and contact each other outside the chan - steam and whatnot. And you can tell that the pathological losers that plague the site are just constantly here. They can't seem to fulfil themselves any other way and opt to just live here, exhausting themselves with repetitious...

I think the most the mods can do are dispose of generals. Beyond that, it's up to the individual to waste their time here or find something else to do.
Lately, there's been a number of touhou-themed threads moved from /v/ onto /jp/. As you may know, /v/ users are by and large facebook-tier normalfags brought onto 4chan because of totally epic /b/ screencaps that get a million likes/upvotes/whatever on social network sites, mixed in with /a/ rejects (in order to be rejected from /a/, you really have to scrape the bottom of the barrel).
Now here's a question for you /questions and answer/, why is it a bannable offence to tell these aforementioned facebookees to go back to thier homeboard? A containment board...

>le containment board meme
Glad they're banning for this. This confirmation that it's not just about reddit, you can also get banned for "go back to such and such board" boogeyman shitposting. The mods are being more consistent and I respect that.
I also think you should have been banned for spelling their wrong. Can't even shitpost with good spelling, who the fuck do you think you are?
>>434469
why is anything anything
answer:
le 42! lol :P like from the book haha,
>>434478
Only way you would be glad about this is if you were from one of the boogeymen yourself
>yfw /pol/ will never ever be deleted
>one of the 10 most popular boards
>not getting deleted
Whuda fuckin thunk it amirite?
It's funnier that people think /qa/ will be deleted. They see a thread they don't like, think to themselves "Oh shit" then out loud they say SEE THIS IS WHY /qa/ NEEDS TO BE DELETED. Because they want to hide from the truth.
>>434356
Is funnier that people begged to Moot and now they are begging to weeb Moot
NEVER EVER
I guess it has been asked lots of times already, but can we get rid of the fucking word filters?
T B H they're annoying F A M, S M H etc.
I use t b h unironically a lot and it is annoying to have it be converted into DESU or other abbreviations into SENPAI or other shit. I don't even know why that happened, it's not even a good troll, I seem to be the only one complaining about it.
Can you please get rid of them, Hiroshima Nagasaki?
>>434223
Get fucked desu (to be desu)
wow baka desu senpai
>>434223
>I use t b h unironically a lot
wew, that's gay lad desu family
>I don't even know why that happened
it's called fun, candy-assgot.
Why is Moot represented by a cat?
>>434012
'Cause he's purr-fect.
>>434274
Nice.
Why are /cin/ threads consistently deleted on /tv/? WTF? They're the best on-topic discussion that board has had in ages! Can we at least get an explanation on what rule did it violate?
It makes no sense
Better idea:
Change /co/ to Comic Books and Films
Split /tv/ into Television and Films
DOOIT HIROSHIMA NAGASAKI
>>433998
>Can we at least get an explanation on what rule did it violate?
Janitor didn't like it.
How would you fix /v/?
Anonymous account system. There. I fixed 4chan for those that care, and killed the small time shitposters and most rulebreakers. There are probably other ways to fix things that may or may not be better, but this is the easiest.
>>433958
This is the worst idea I've seen on this board.
>>433968
You'd still be anonymous. All the replies I've ever gotten are people simply exclaiming that they don't like it, not why they don't like it. I really want someone to convince me how it's a bad idea. I want to see what's both sides of this fence.
How often do you report content on your homeboard, if at all?
Never
>>433933
Reporting content is literally for queers
On /h/ about 40 things a day.
On /a/ maybe once a day at most.
We managed to get one cancerous, regressive insult filtered (until /pol/ bitched too hard about it that is). Now, can we PLEASE have a wordfilter for "fag"? I'm sick of this shit.
>regressive
To /tumblr/ with you whore
What was filtered?
Fuck off nigger faggot, dumb frogposter.
