/aco/ and /his/ were practically begged for years to happen. These were boards a lot of people wanted for the longest time. /trash/ was made to try and move off topic threads from other boards there. Instead it became a place for furry porn and role playing. /wsr/ was needed because /r/ was just a porn dumping board. In fact many requests on /wsr/ are anime related.

They contribute absolutely nothing to threads besides attention whoring. /mu/ is absolutely unusable thanks to them. There is absolutely no need to use a trip at all unless you're an OP that needs it for a thread and even then just forcing IDs like /biz/ or /pol/ is a much better solution that also combats samefagging at the same time.
