Hello /pol/, I wanted to share my story with you, and seek some advice. This will be a bit of a long post but I hope it is worth it, thank you for reading my brothers.
A few years ago I was in a dark place in my life and after a lot of studying and examining various religions I went to my local mosque and took Shahada. I knew then it was the perfect religion for me. At first, I put down the Quran and stopped reading as I did not want to become Muslim. I resisted it. Somehow, it kept calling me back, and I kept reading Quran and studying Islam. I just wanted to find out more about Islam, this religion was beckoning me, it really felt right.
Eventually I gave up and returned to Christianity. But I cannot accept the Trinity, I understand how the Trinity forms one God, but I cannot accept it. Priests and Pastors must jump through hoops to make sense of their version of monotheism. I began looking at Judaism; my grandmother was a Jew. While Jews are supposed to love the convert Judaism made it clear I could never be a "complete" Jew. So then I looked at Unitarian Christianity. Jehovah's Witnesses were very smart and able to back up monotheism in the New Testament with scripture, but they in essence operate as a cult: if you do not do a certain amount of evangelization you're considered "inactive", they also have peculiar cultish things like this in their church doctrines.
One day I actually told my mother and step-father I was Muslim, but they thought I was joking, and began laughing, so I joined them and I hid my faith and pretended I was joking. It hurt to do this, let me explain why. I'm a white man from Texas, with a very Baptist family. My family hates Muslims, my friends hate them... Everyone I know does, and it pains me, because what was revealed to me was the TRUE Islam, and they will never be able to know what I am talking about.

I won't ever be able to go to Jummah because my local college students would recognize me, and inevitably word would spread to my friends in college. I live in a southern state and some nearby mosques had armed protestors and I'm always too afraid to walk in. I couldn't ever marry a Muslim woman for obvious reasons, I can't raise my children Muslim, I would have hide my faith from my family when I get married. If I follow a religion I follow it to the T: I simply can't imagine my life without guitar and rock music. I don't have the desire to stop marijuana. I feel as if I wouldn't be fully committed to Islam with these things in my life. I'd come back to Islam in a heartbeat if it meant no Jummah, raising kids Muslim... etc... Effectively if I became a Muslim that didn't exist in the eyes of any others. Allah, why couldn't you have just given me life into a Muslim country and family?
Sorry, I honestly don't know what the point of this thread is, I guess I just want to vent and see what you all think about it... It's such a shit situation, to finally find something that gives answer and structure to my life, and have my mother laugh about it. So here I sit in my room on a dark Saturday at night pissface drunk, stoned and depressed, drugs are my only real god now and it doesn't come close to Salat, which I can never have, or at least live to the fullest extent.

When I went to the mosque the first time, there was beauty there. I really felt connected to God, to the divine, and the chanting and prayer felt authentic and real to me, like nothing else had before. When I read the Quran, its verses spoke to me, they were so beautiful and poetic, they calmed me, they brought me out of depression. When I pray to Allah I feel connected to Him, I feel His love and kindness. This feeling is hard to explain with words, that's why it's faith I guess. You just know it in your heart when you feel it and it's right for you.
