Watch this video of two kids filming in 7/11 and tell me how you feel watching it. Everyone seems so nice and happy to just be alive. I can't believe how friendly these people are to other complete strangers. It makes me sad to know public interaction will never be like this again.

Fuck that made me sad, I watched the one where they went to the same 7/11 in 2014.

Everyone did seem friendlier and happier then.
>>
>>73872040
I don't think we will ever be able to see people behave like this again.
>>
>>73872040

Past: Video cameras are a novelty and being shot on film is an excuse to goof off; despite the public nature of the films, there's no reason to suspect anyone would spread a video of you because there's no viable mechanism to do so.

Present: Video cameras are ubiquitous, your actions can and will be posted on YouTube and scrutinized by politicking shitheads, potential employers, and your family.

Privacy makes people friendlier since privacy is a position of strength. Privacy which is enforced by some mechanism (being unable to cheaply replicate a video, for example) is an even more secure position.

The future is here, and it fucking sucks.
>>
>>73872250

Bullshit. People don't interact nowadays. It has nothing to do with the frequency of "video cameras" and the excuse to "good off".
>>
>>73871668
>How to start a thread that will go over 100+posts

Here we go...
>>
>>73872416

People don't interact because anything candid or intimate will be posted on the internet and picked apart relentlessly.
>>
>>73872416
>>73872250

I think this is correct, People do not interact. If you try to talk to someone you don't know I bet 5 times out of 10 they will pull out their phone to try and get away from conversation.

My dad said that when his friends and him looking for something to do they would just go drive around and something fun would always come up because people would talk to strangers.

It is too easy to cure your bordem with a screen these days and I think It is causing us to loose our humanity

People just dont talk, when I take the train and try to do small talk after a few drinks only older ladies and gentlemen end up having a conversation.

People my age or younger tend to shut in and hide behind their phone and its not just the train, any public place, even in bars!

Right there ag the bar there are people glued to their phones and won't even give the light of day to anyone!

Its truly depressing to be quite sincere family members, maybe Trump will bring a bit of that spirit back but I'm beginning to think its too late
>>
This video's been posted a bunch of times.
It's late at night and most people there are drunk. Video cameras were also a novelty, so they weren't suspicous or hostile at the impromptu interviewing.

Things didnt go to shit after 9/11 (except airports), things went to after 2008... the Great Recession, Facebook, social media, Obama, Iphones/smartphones, SJWs, the rise of BRIC nations, hipsters, rap music being taken seriously... everything went to shit after 2008. Things have been getting worse ever since then. Prove me wrong, you cant.

The US immediately following 9/11 was actually quite a beautiful place- strong sense of American identity swept everyone across the nation, George Bush had super high approval ratings for his handling of the attacks, American flags were everywhere, neighbors and acquaintances put petty bullshit behind them, sense of community was at an all time high, restored faith and unity in our western allies (except for France)- Im as nostalgic for the 2000-2005 period as I am for the '90's.
>>
>>73872678

Huh? Dude back in the day you would literally just go to the park or mall or hangout spot to meet people. Nowadays everything is very orderly and only done through prearranged plans. It is also unlikely to meet or befriend people you don't know. It wasnt like that back in the 90s or even early 2000s. Social media changed that more than anything. I'm sure 9/11 helped.
>>
>>73872678
I'm sure what you said has a bit to do with it but as >>73872620 Said people would interact more often even if it wasn't from leaving the bar. I still see it in my grandfather, The only technology he uses is the T.V for an hour or so before bed. He is so much more engaged with his life than most young people despite being 84.

We're all guilty of it too
>>
>>73872877
people are just anti-social today, stop trying to read so much into it
>>
>>73872250
I don't think it's the whole reason, but it's probably part of it. Times can change, and anything you do or say can come back and bite you later if it falls out of style. Interaction used to be a chance to make friends, now it's a chance to make enemies.
>>
I Have been considering getting rid of my smart phone all together and just having a basic flip phone instead. I am going to limit my Computer use to only Emails for work and school and interacting on 4Chan because I like to talk to like minded people about unpopular topics. The only thing that will be missing is the people around me to interact with... and that's something I don't know how to fix.
>>
>>73873065

All people, everywhere are anti-social, and you want me to not read anything into that?

>>73873088

That's literally what I've said, but slightly pithier.
>>
>>73872880

Fuck you the 90's had great movies and music. You also didn't have to worry about what you do or don't post online because of some all-seeing government supercomputer conspiracy logging your every keystroke.
>>
>>73872416
That's generalized. Quite frequently when I'm working with college kids selling them shit there's usually a 50/50 chance that we'll end up talking for a bit and getting to know each other. In that 50, there's probably a 25% chance we'll talk afterwards when im not working. In my experience, it's the older generations who don't talk to anyone and just want to get their shit and get out.
Just yesterday I met a couple who were taking the bar exams and one was studying traffic shit and the other was doing misdemeanors at a state attorney's office. Then as I rung them up we took bets on who would get the total sales right (as they had about $1,000 worth of shit.)
So no, people do interact still. Its older people who only talk to me and my coworkers to complain and whine. Even as shown in the video, it still remains true today.

>>73871668

The internet and social media has done loads more damage then 9/11 ever did.

Back when the internet felt like an adventure people were more genuine and kind to each other. I remember just hanging out in AOL chatrooms giddy at the concept of talking to other people through my computer. Now people are cold, narcissistic, and ugly to each other.

People will legit wish death upon you if you don't agree with their politics or worldviews on social media. Saying the wrong thing on Facebook can literally destroy your life. Normal social interaction has been replaced with hook-up apps and messengers.

As much as technology has brought the world together it's pushed everyone apart.

The problem is it's simply not like it was 15 years ago. People aren't going to call you aside from your absolute closest family. No one else is going to call you. They're going to interact with you on FB or social media, then maybe shoot you a text or message to arrange plans. They consider themselves too "busy" to call you. And some people might chalk that up to "well then I guess they're not that good of friends", but when that's pretty much every person nowadays you're alienating yourself even further.

Interaction was easier. Like I said earlier in this thread, back in the 90's you could just go knock on someone's door, or call them up and it wasn't a big deal. Nowadays that shit is only reserved for family or your SO. Even my good friends, if I went and knocked on their door they'd be like "wtf are you doing here". That's just the way it is today.

1990 through 1999 I was little kid and my parents were married and lived in a very comfy suburb just outside of Chicago. Had my two best friends literally one block down the street from me. Had a super nice, older family next door that would let me ride their massive Great Dane dog like a horse. We also had two beautiful Maine Coon cats. It was so fucking COMFY words cannot describe. Literally Breakfast Club/Sixteen Candles-tier (also shot in Chicago suburbs).

Then when I was 10, in 1999, my parents got divorced, became absolute degenerates and moved to the city into condos in "trendy", "up and coming" neighborhoods that were filled with niggers, projects, drunk homeless people and gun shout sounds. I went on to enjoy my time in the city after a long time of acclimation, but goddamn were suburbs comfy in the 90's.

Now that same suburb today is packed with Poo-In-The-Loos and Chinks.

You made it sound like the whole thing was down to video cameras. I'd say it's also related to diversity and the rise of HR, and to a culture of political correctness in general. Social missteps and conflicts are elevated to serious business (even retroactively, which is easily the shittiest part of video taping). People are just more afraid of making mistakes now, since being offended has become a virtue, a source of social power.

Seriously, time capsule documentary is fascinating, like this 7/11 social documentary filmed in 1987 that contrast the depressive, reserved, angry, rude and hopeless time with George W Bush and Obama eras that cause such moody pessimism.

It is the founding fathers' sincere intention for the people of USA to be very happy and productive. It's almost the reverse now.

Thanks, nigger illegal alien Moslem communist Barry. And no thanks to Dumbya.

With Trump coming in, perhaps he will make America MAGA again, and bring back peace, hope and happiness that is contagious like in 7/11 documentary.

How times change, with corrupt politics in Washington that fuck everything up, as well as some big city libtard cities and gibsmedat states with dumbass politicians and kleptocratic administrators running to ruin while hoarding fortune through fraudulent cronyism and salary.

>There has to still be some towns in rural america that has kept its 90s charm

Moved to about as rural as you can get for my wife's tiny college a year ago.

There are towns where most people never got computers or Internet connections, but they all have cell phones and constantly check their Facebook accounts. The South is still friendly IMO and the tiny town nearby has autumn/spring festivals. But obvious difference in warmth. Nobody is as happy to meet a stranger, because deep down, they have all that social interaction on their phones, and constantly talk to strangers on the internet.

>>
>>73873956

Yeah I don't think anything about this topic is "rose-tinted", it's just the way it was. People didn't have shit to do inside except watch basic cable, so they went outside to do stuff.

There were even meet-up spots where it was understood that at this particular time of day, you could show up and meet people. It was the same in the 1950's with drive-in theaters, ice cream parlors, and such. It was just a different time and a different way of life.

There was this picture from the 90's of a park in Long Beach where hundreds of people were just hanging out in the summer. It was very surreal. Wish I could find it..

This hold a bit of truth I believe. I surround my self with white people . My family is all white, my family holds memberships at a yachtclub. My freinds and I like to play hockey and go to watch ski racing in the winter. I move to a small town in my summers and spend lots of time with my good friends. Although for the most part life is much happier around these activities and places one thing still stands out and that is the girls always on their phone... But if you had the attention of every girl would you not be soaking that in too?
>>
>>73874433
It's not the video that is important it is the topic..
>>
>>73874358

Yes, but the state of the politics reflect the people's mood.

Plus, it's more like the demographic changes with white people gradually reduced and pushed out with anti-white rhetoric and political correctness, like commie high schools, colleges and universities.

With self-awareness of "white privilege" pushed by commie crazies like parasitic professors, this leads to downbeat outlook and cynical attitude.

Not to mention struggle to find steady and respectful employment that does't treat them like cogs in the machine with shit pay and micromanagement, as well as constantly facing "affirmative action" test to prefer non-white applicants to satisfy federal government racial quotas.

Political correctness and complacency are killing this once great of USA. Addiction to the Internet and latest tech like smartphone and video games are part of the problem that exacerbate the asocial and hypercritical pessimism.

I dont like rural areas desu. Huge sacrifice of quality of life. Sorry but fuck these inner city niggers and spics, theyre not chasing me away from MY cities. They can go live in the middle of nowhere, fuck them.

And rural areas really arent that much better anyways. I attended bording school for two years in northeastern Vermont, in a quaint, little, 100% white town with buildings from the 1800's that literally had two diners, a movie theater, a McDonalds and a corner store. Guess what now? Its completely overrun with a heroin epidemic, old historic buildings are being turned into rehab centers, homeless junkies everywhere, while drug dealing Puerto Potty spics from NYC continue to flood the town. All that, and social media/smartphones STILL permiate everything.

Southwest isnt much better- Mexcrement spics everywhere, teen pregnancies rampant, meth is all over the place, obesity, Californian degenerates moving in anywhere half decent- and of course, you still have social media and smart phones.

The key is to get out of America- period.

I'm going to get rid of my cellphone and facebook today... I have come to this decision after a memory I just had of when I was at a race track with my dad just watching the cars go round and eating a hotdog. I think something that has changed is the ability to escape the moment by using a smart phone. If you always have the ability to temporally leave a scenario then you are never going to be 100% there. I don't know if this makes sense but it could have something to do with why people seem so distant from each other.

I also agree people are way less likely to be candid, open, and friendly and a huge part of it is the constant threat of having your interactions permanently preserved for the world to see on youtube, snapchat, twitter, et al. Even if people aren't consciously aware of why they might act more reserved, it's definitely running in the back of your mind. You can't be a human being any more, god forbid you fall asleep on a plane and end up resting your head against the passenger next to you, next thing you know your ugly mug is plastered all over /r/pics the next day. "Lol this guy fell asleep next to me on the flight to Dallas! rofl! [3154 upvotes]"

You can literally be fired if someone takes your picture and accuses you of making an offcolor joke that they found offensive. Remember donglegate?

Of course this is a complex situation, but it's really naive to think people aren't aware of the self-imposed surveillance state we've put ourselves in with smartphones and social media.

Basically most of us stopped going to the states after this.

Nobody want to be fucking treated as a fucking terrorist, just because the americans are so cucked that they simply can't single out those who might pose a threat, mudslimes......

No instead let's publicly harass and stress and old woman in her 90ies in her wheelchair... she might be a terrorist, let's not be racist now

In this sense, the turdorists "won"

It was really popular with my friends to go there late 90ies, spend a lot of shekels for 2-3 weeks and go home again. Not after this.... to stupid
and that smoke weed == terrorism shit

I'd just be jailed anyways, drinking over there and if one of those niggers of your would even eyeball me while drunk in part, would lead to unpleasant consequences.

Stop memeing this idea. Every day I interact with strangers, alone or with my family and friends. We laugh, poke fun, generally muck around. Countless times I've met someone in passing & spent the rest of the day with them, swimming, having lunch, chatting. Making new friends, acquaintances. It's not all doom & gloom, at least if you have a positive outlook.

Nice, m8.

My grandma was actually English, lived near Winchester Castle in Surrey, I used to visit quite a bit in the early 2000's and have great memories of Surrey and London from when I was younger. It makes my heart sink to think of what has become of the area now. Havent been back since 2003. My grandma passed away earlier this year in February, 2016. Aside from missing her a ton, it makes my blood boil knowing the last of my English lineage is getting replaced by some shitskin foreigner. She was a real proper English lady. Fuck, this is some Orwellian nightmare we have today.

nah.. most of the people are, again oslo excluded, those aren't people.
We have an anti immigration party in the gov now, but it's all rhetoric, there isn't any difference between the parties hardly...

Problem now has been, we almost made it impossible to get asylum here. But these minor commie parties or opposition just wants to hinder whatever the gov does, in hopes people will be fed up and vote for them.

Nah we got big problems here, now we're over 5.2 mill people here. So there is a lot more shits here than they tell us, and each time I go to Oslo it gets fucking worse.

>Revolution is needed, kick away this 1945 puppet regime

Time will show what they do during this year, the whole country can implode on it self if enough come.... Thank you merkel... Thank you for destroying our country for a 2nd time Germany..

God fucking damnit I hate Sweden and Germany (their govs)
>>
>>73876283
In Spain it was great. Unemployement was almost voluntary. Our biggest problem with immigration was eastern european paramilitary gangs and they only assaulted rich people (guess that's why shitskins are much preferred) and any sandnigger that stepped out of the line was drugged and taken back to their country in a military plane.

Never sent a single resumee in the 90s. Everytime I wanted a job I got it. Even while I was working I received offers every other month from other companies.

Movies and Tv Shows were easy to watch. No propaganda bullshit.

Girls weren't sluts. The hotter the girl the purer. A really hot girl wouldn't let you touch her ass until 2 weeks into the relationship (minimum). Also dressing code was a thing.

Boys had goals in life. I had a friends wanting to enlist in the army, wanting to be firemen, doctors, veterinarians...

It was the life, man, I tell ya.
>>
>>73873631

That look is confusion that you're talking to them at all. People now do not like to be approached in public places. People used to talk to strangers on the bus, in line ups, at the doctor's office, and pretty much anywhere else where people would wait. Now if you so much as say hello to someone as you pass them on the street they think you're going to rob or rape them, depending on who you are and where you live.

It wasn't always like this guys. I used to get upwards of 200 kids at my door for Halloween, and now am lucky to get 20.

What happened?

2008-2015 has just been one big blur of shit descending steeply into more shit. Things are starting to turn around in 2016- politically, that is- but we have a lot of damage to clean up, if we ever can truly clean it up.
>>
>>73872859
Good point.
But the decay came in stages: 1968, 1973, 9/11 and eventually 2008.

Prior to 9/11 we were still optimistic about our future and the postition of muslims in Europe (we thought they would go back or integrate) . But after 9/11 the gov't even speeded up the mass immigration from Africa and Asia
>>
>>73876911

>>
>>73871668
I used to do this shit as a kid. When we were bored, we just went out with a camera and filmed anything we came across and interviewed random people. Have several hours of video from 1993-1997.
It's amazing how much you could get away with back then, and how much more relaxed people were.

>>73872250
this is part of it but I don't think it's the only reason. more depressing information came like 9/11 possibly being done by our own government(or at the very least our government knowing). after you find this out, you go into a rabbit hole into a downward spiral of thinking everything sucks.

Then add in the SJW bullshit (mostly funded by Soros) and it's even worse.

Oh and the 90s had huge amounts of refugees coming in from all over, and they're generally not as friendly too.
>>73873019
I have an iPhone 6S and I don't even like to use it much when I'm out. Mainly because the battery gets drained if you have GPS on so I only use it in short spurts.

>>73873438

They look so happy, healthy and engaged. Most kids these days look unhealthy and depressed or have a real mean look to them. Something has gone seriously wrong. I really don't think we are looking at those times through a nostalgic lens, those were the last good times we had, even if the same eternal Jewing was going on behind the scenes. It was nothing like it is now, there was still life then. This century is looking like hell on Earth. Conductor we have a problem.
>>
>>73877839
i missed that about germany, you didn't feel the pressure to make small talk, but if you needed to ask something to someone you didn't know, people were polite to offer any kind of help
>>
>>73872605
I grew up in the 80s and confirm it was much like OP's video. I don't interact with people I don't know in public very much anymore but it's not because of video screens. It's because 90% of the time anyone who tries to talk to you in public wants money from you. Not just panhandlers. It's also people selling shit or handing out ads for random products like women's razors. Had some fucker from Comcast try to sell me a cable package while I was grabbing a bottle of Coke at the grocery store. Same reason why my phone now goes straight to voicemail... most calls are someone trying to extract money from me one way or another. Personal interactions have been monetized so from my end they're not worthwhile.

>>

>Now if you so much as say hello to someone as you pass them on the street they think you're going to rob or rape them

Or they think you're trying to sell them something or are just weird. People see things from such a self-centred perspective these days that they cannot even understand the motivation of someone wanting to talk to them without an underlying, self serving agenda.

On the subject of people being more social, I've noticed everyone suffers from anxiety, especially females. Literally every girl I know claims to suffer from anxiety and posts shit on Facebook about staying inside with Netflix and pizza, and those googly-eyed comics about dealing with anxiety disorders.

In fact, it's the same in public. I go to, let's say, Starbucks. A girl there freaks out if I compliment her hair or some band tee she's wearing. Like they forget how to interact in public. Nobody seems to look me in the eye when they talk.

And these same people seem to babble on and on and on and on and on on social media and take half-naked selfies for Instagram or whatever, but in public, they choke up immensely.
>>
>>73878749
You think women are the ones who exude anxiety?
I've found that it's men who have become anti-social ones and I mean the fact you said otherwise is fucking retarded that's how sure I am that my statement is the correct one.

Who knows maybe things are different in his area. I think Miami is more open but it's a different culture and mostly Cubans + other Hispanics. I talk to people all the time.

I think it's white people and Asians who are the antisocial ones. I mean white women believe all those sjw memes and get easily triggered. These 90s and 80s videos are just of it being before that time.

>>73871668

Well good luck to you. I've wanted to delete Facebook and not have a cell phone but I know ultimately I would probably reactivate the account and not be able to get by without a mobile phone. You are right though in that people seem incapable of enjoying the moment anymore. No one's got any time for anything or anyone anymore. Anything they do that they deem worthy of their attention they have to record or film, maybe in the delusional belief that they can file it away and enjoy the moment later when they have more time.
>>
It wasn't 9/11, it was the Iraq war. The Vietnam war was actually a very sensible geopolitical move but Iraq was completely absurd in comparison. It served only the interests of Israel and to alleviate the indignation(though they'll never admit this is what it is) the worst of the plebeians had after 9/11. All of these things you call "cultural marxism" are results of people losing a very fundamental trust for America after the Iraq war.
