I think Germany is the most based country on Earth

Unironically saying someone should finally orginize a coup there, kill every high rank official and give the South Korea control of it. Restoring NK can be a new driver of economical growth im the world for a next two decades. Or imaginr a road from Lisbon to Seoul, now it ends only in Vladivostok.
>>
>>73584923
People keep saying that reconstructing North Korea would tank the South's economy but that doesn't make sense at all. Think of all it will take to drag the North into the 21st century. Just replacing the crap infrastructure alone should generate millions of jobs.
>>
>>73585176
This. Poland is EU's driver and the gap between it and western europeans was much less and now imagine korean great investment projects. It's not like southerners should provide everyont in the north with the samw wages and bemefits just in one day. That will be the building site of the century.
>>
In North Korea calling yourself North Korean is very close to a crime and you can get punished for it because it implies you're recognizing the legitimacy of South Korea (or southern Korea) as a state entity.

You're always a pure-blooded Korean living in our homeland, Korea. The southern Koreans are just living under US imperial occupation, so there is no "North Korea" or "South Korea" in their minds.

North Korea does have some media bans.

In particular: anti-state material, pornography, and legit degeneracy. This includes music, so potentially rap - but I have yet to see a case on that particular charge.

>>73586429
The famine was in the late 90's, though you can still see the remnants of it now. They have enough food to currently sustain themselves though.

The electricity in the rural areas is horribly up and down. They have to have a regulator in each house due to it, and otherwise it isn't so much used to run the household as it is to charge flashlights for night-time usage. I can post some rural house electricity pics, or a picture of their national power grid if you're interested.

The generational imprisonment mentioned by some of the refugees has had no actual basis yet, outside of the reinforcing claims by South Korean spies.

But if I've learned anything about NK, it's that you should trust SK about NK about as much as you trust NK about SK - Which is, not at all.

Otherwise their criminal code has no generational crime articles. They revised it largely in 2004, eliminating the retrospective crime article and a bit earlier in the 2000's to get rid of the "alternate crime" article.

So they are improving their code at least.

Yeah, you can visit. I've got a bunch of friends who do, a handful who go at least once a year, and a few who do (did, due to the newest sanctions) business in NK while being citizens of other countries, including two who lived there for more than a year.

It's fine to visit, just don't do stupid shit while there.

And I'm not saying it's a paradise. Nothing close. Socialism sucks, it's retarded.

But NK isn't on the same level as general third-world countries - you won't get murdered while there, robbed, etc. The worst you'll get is the constant presence of your 'guide' who walks around with you.

Depends on where you go.

Even rural areas have some people.

They aren't populated in mass like India or anything like that, but it's definitely not empty.

If you head on some of the rural roads between towns though you'll find only some stragglers walking - since most people in rural areas stay in those, and don't have to ride to a different zone for work.

They call those "residential areas", but I imagine you wouldn't be surprised if I told you that even the folks in the urban areas are still poor.

One thing that you should pick up on when looking at urban poor is the fact that most still have to grow some crops in the windows of their apartment. They call those "kitchen gardens", and they are so significant that they are even mentioned in the constitution.

Why?
Because it's a big habit established even during the famine. EVERYONE had to grow food, even those living on the 10th floor - because nobody had any.

Living anywhere tends to mean you're poor. But yeah, the rural areas tend to grow food, then a % of that is given to the government and the township retains the rest.
>>
>>73592134

That's not true at all. Russia is only like 7% of Finland's exports and you can buy crude oil from like Norway(it's the same quality btw). Sorry Mohammed, you got this wrong.

USSR won the war.
>>
>>73592663
Oh I didn't say they did it for fun.

I said they did it because of habits from the famine. It's necessary. Survival isn't often fun. And you won't grow enough to live on alone, absolutely right, but it lets you supplement the food (or not food) you get. Best thing you can do in an environment like that.

Not sure how it was prop, since I said that nobody had any. I mean, you can legit see it in the people raised during the famine, since their bodies never really come back.

I aint interested in swaying opinions, just sharing info - in the same way I'd want others to share with me.

I still think it is comparatively a shithole. I just don't think it's the shit at the bottom of the barrel like some say.

I got very used to, when I first starting researching NK, dealing with the weird responses I'd get from people. it ranged from "NK has NO LAWS AT ALL" to "Everything is illegal". Any time I'd mention anything I found out, it'd be answered with "they're evil". While it's nice to make moral judgments and assert absolutes, that doesn't really help you learn about a place in any great depth.

So that's what I'm interested in. Learning about them. Not glorifying them or demonizing them, it's just a dark little hobby I have.

Glad you're enjoying the pics though bruh!

The four phases of construction based in Pyongyang:

First - "Three-Year Plan" and "Five-Year Plan" from 1954-1956 and 1957-1961 respectively. Started in the south of the city near the railway and was based on the section of the city that the Japanese had built their structures in.

Second - "First Seven-year plan" and "Six-Year Plan" in 1961-1967 and 1971-1976 respectively. Started with the Chollima Monument, symbolizing the movement which literally was based on cheap and fast production (hence why the buildings are falling apart).

Third - "Second Seven-Year PLan" from 1978-1984. Changgwang Street to Potong Gate (I can post a pic of it if interested). Also brought in the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital.

Fourth - "Third Seven-Year Plan" from 1987 to 1993. Involved the sports facilities, Kwangbok Street, near the banks of the Taedong river, the May Stadium, etc.

Aaaaand that's when the famine hit. Good prepping, Kim Il-Sung.

Anyway, hope you found that interesting/useful.

Each leader has had a sort of focus. Kim Il-Sung's was construction. 80% of all the buildings you see were constructed under him. Their emblem, even, is a hydroelectric dam, pic related. He celebrated construction as the foundation of infrastructure. Sadly, he rushed it. He didn't pay well for it. And you see a lot of remnants of these problems today.

Kim Jong-Il focused on 'the arts'. He increased funding for artists, wrote treatises on theater and music, built things in relation to these. Got the children's school for the arts really chugging along. That's where their media began to, comparatively, sore.

Kim Jong-Un so far likes science. He had 'science street' built. He focused on the rocket launches. He wants to do space shit. He had the science center renovated.

It's cute.

Yeah, the pics are primarily from Aram Pam, a Singapore photographer who decided to do something crazy when he visited NK. He asked them to go places most people didn't.

As a result, over the years, they've become more lax in where you can go. Which is nice. Used to be you couldn't even leave Pyongyang. Thank god that changed.

If there are photoshopped pics, legit, I'd appreciate you pointing them out. The last thing I want to do is share misinformation. If you can find one, I'll send it to him and ask for some info on it.

They can't go everywhere. But they go to Africa, study at colleges in China (a chinkbro of mine shared an apartment with a Nork, and the apartment had 20+ other norks there too), study at colleges in South America, vacation to locations (including, most recently, Singapore. That's new for them though).

But you can't go just anywhere. Sadly, Japan won't let me just move and live there either though. But I don't think that makes either Japan or the US a prison.

They definitely don't have the liberty of travel that I have - either financially or legally - but not every country can brag about dat US awesomeness.

Weird, because that picture specifically, the towers with the weird light contrast (and maybe that's the shopped part?) really are there, they're visible in other videos and street shots. Not kidding.

The sun filter is something obvious, agreed, but the buildings themselves there I don't think are shopped.

Aram is a chill dude, he has yet to do any uber shopping I know of. Worst he has done, which we've chatted about, is editing contrast and using certain filters. The contrast was used in one of his star pics to make the stars more visible to pick them out.

>The last thing I want to do is share misinformation.

wow. your claim to be "studying" NK and dumping pics along with that nauseating laconic and blasé tone "hey, the streets are clean and tidy. good planning, Dear Leader."

do you even have a clue how many of it's own citizens have been tortured and murdered by that nutty fucking cult?
you don't know anything about the north.

No reason you can't unless Turkey isn't allowed.

Most countries have to fly into Beijing, handle the passport stuff there, then you either fly or take a train into NK.

Costs are determined by what you wanna do on the trip, but it's pretty cheap (for me at least).

You can look at tons of different sites/groups that offer different things - and I don't really want to shill a specific site, but I could paste one if you're having trouble finding any.

You wouldn't be allowed to bring outside plants and all that kinda stuff. No propaganda (people try to sneak anti-NK stuff, that's a no no). Just bring what you normally would on a trip: a phone, a camera, money, clothes, etc. Your given travel agency will cover with you if there are any specific prohibitions in regards to your country, so there's no way you'd end up making a mistake or they're big time liable.

Glad you like the pics bruh!

So they can go to about three other countries. All where they are used for slave labor. Im surprised about Singapore

Saying you can't just take up residence in Japan proves you are trying desperately to distort what I've said to make your illogical point. YOU CAN legally fly to Japan. YOU CAN legally fly to well over 150 countries.

North Koreans can go to 3? Maybe? And it's countries that use them for slave labor

That is a prison. If you disagree while acknowledging those facts then we obviously just have different definition of prison.

are they *all* there, though? These look like they've been duplicated, and the lots surrounding some of the buildings look like they're actually empty lots, there's another building in this shot that looks questionable

Well, Africa is their primary labor zone. If you're unfamiliar with their statue company, check this out:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mansudae_Overseas_Projects

I don't think education is slave labor. In Beijing they went out drinking and all.

But yeah, I guess we disagree on the definition of prison. As a lawyer, I'm familiar with prisons. Had to visit them. All that kinda stuff. So I guess so/

> But they go to Africa, study at colleges in China (a chinkbro of mine shared an apartment with a Nork, and the apartment had 20+ other norks there too), study at colleges in South America, vacation to locations (including, most recently, Singapore. That's new for them though).

You dont know shit about communists. These NOK abroad students were carefully selected and all their family members and relatives are held as hostages in case they do something stupid in other countries. The same shit happened in Vietnam before 1990.

I'm familiar with Communism, but more familiar with NK. I'll have to disagree with you there, Vietnambro.

I have no doubt there are 'carefully selected' because money is expensive and you don't want to fund an education for a retard. But their families weren't held hostage. Their families even visited them in China.

So maybe there is bad stuff going on, sure, but you picked one that doesn't have any clear basis in my mind.

Why does North Korea always look so desolate? Even in the picture filed with people and nice buildings, there's always something so barren and lonely feeling about them. I can't quite explain it.

I don't think I'd have trouble finding agencies but I would like some reccomendations, if possible.

Can you give me an estimate in USD?

If I were to bring my laptop, for nighttime gaming purposes, for example, would that be acceptable? Would somebody ask to see what's in it, or try to see what's inside when I'm not around?
