One of the main criticisms I hear about Sanders is that a single payer healthcare system is not feasible, but that's obviously somewhat bullshit since Canada and the UK have weaker economies yet still make it work. I want to believe there is an argument against it because it sounds to easy, but I have yet to hear a solid argument against implementing a single payer healthcare system.

Also, the notion that we should not raise the minimum wage is ridiculous. It should have been raised a long time ago. At least Trump agrees on that front though.

And if college is free, it would be good for the economy because more people would be getting educated and taking more important and higher paying jobs which adds new potential for specialized business.

To help pay for all this, we could just tax the shit out of the rich because most of America's wealth is up there in the 1% and they are not using their money for anything good except to make more money for themselves. Might as well steal it to help the country. Just add a fat ass tax bracket at the 400k/year mark and the 1mil/year mark and the U.S. can really start bringing in the dough to fix our economy.

I think the ideal candidate would be something like a mix of trump and sanders, with Trumps hard on for border security, nationalism and sorting out our trade imbalances so other countries can stop bleeding us like a stuck pig. As well as Sanders' desire to increase taxes on the rich (although his tax plan should be even more radical) to fund programs that would benefit our country well being and economy like socialized medicine and free college.

What is wrong with a good mix of nationalism and socialism?
>>

Point 1 -- Canada and the UK have far lower populations
Also a quick google will give you several articles on the reality of healthcare here and in Canada (protip its shit and getting shittier)
I would link some but Im on mobile

In the USA if you took 100% of the net worth of the 1% right now you would get 3 years of socialised healthcare.

Point 2 -- raising the minimum wage plays into the hands of multinational corporations
Wal Mart are one of the biggest lobbyists for raising the minimum wage because it lets them choke out small business and gain a stranglehold on the market

This is because of the fact big comoanies have more money
Small businesses have to cut costs in order to compete when the minimum wage is raised.

Also the inflation caused by raising the minimum wage is incredible.

Standard of living should br improved by creating an environment in which wealth is created and jobs and demand are created by increasing spending power.
This does not happen if large businesses gain a stranglehold on the market.

Point 3 -- this is a great idea if we assume that everyone has the potential to earn a meaningful degree and that everyone is a hard working student

Sadly these are not true.
What free university has done is create a gap between those who have dehrees and those who dont
Those who dont have degrees (aka poor people) are worse off than ever before and those who have are worse off due to the huge number of people dependent on the welfare state
>>
>>73349129
Continuing on point 3 the lack of a financial incentive to study in university really reduces the effort people put into earning their degree
Its at the stage now people here just go to uni for the student life, get drunk all day, then drop out because they failed due to getting drunk instead of studying
This means they wasted taxpayer money.

Another thing -- university being free without regulation on the universities which forces them to keep standards high reduces the standard of the universities graduates
Enforcing these regulation creates an additional cost.

Your entire basis for all your arguments comes from an over simplification of the issues and an idealist view of the world.
Basically you need to do more research (protip Huffpo is never a good source)
>>
>>73349129
As for point 1, can you define shit for me so I know what to look for?

2, what about jobs that do not require wage? Shouldn't living conditions be ultimately better considering that more people could afford housing and food? I don't see how something like the residential market could be inflated by a higher minimum wage because you can house lot of people for very few employees.

3 - Maybe we could enact some sort of affirmative action style program where we have a certain quota for degrees in crtain majors such as STEM fields that we need to reach before we let people go into shit like liberal arts

I meant sectors of the economy with little to no employees like online businesses, residential, and automation

Forgot to deal with this
Basically what happens when you do this is you run out of other people's money

The rich hide all their money or leave the country so you get no tax from them.
Making this illegal goes against civil liberty and i hope we dont need to get into why this is bad

You also then create an environment where being rich is bad for you so no one gets rich
This means no one invests in your economy and it becomes stagnant before dying due to the huge taxes you need to impose on everyone to pay for all your free shit

Oh also paying off all the student debt in the USA would cost something like 1.3-1.4 trillion USD
The top 1% have approximately 1 trillion USD in net worth.
>>
I'm not sure people would leave just because they are being taxed, America is still one of the easiest places to get rich

So you want to raise the minimum wage for these sectors when they all have high wages anyway?

>Maybe we could enact some sort of affirmative action style program where we have a certain quota for degrees in crtain majors such as STEM fields that we need to reach before we let people go into shit like liberal arts

This changes the huge cost and prevents the new class gap created by the free university placement how?

>As for point 1, can you define shit for me so I know what to look for?
The most documented example is wait times. They are huge for us.
I hear it can take 6 months to get a CAT scan in Canada
People also struggle to acquire medication

Yes I agree the USA has a problem in regard to healthcare but the solution is to create a high competition market to drive premiums down, not to socialise healthcare.

>I'm not sure people would leave just because they are being taxed, America is still one of the easiest places to get rich
These people are already rich. They have no reason to stay to "get rich" also you missed the part where I spoke about the taxes killing incentive to get rich didnt you?
>>
>>73348389
I think the main argument against sanders is that he's a fucking communist
>>
>>73349129
So you in essence you're saying socialized medicine doesn't work because it would cost too much, and other countries like the UK and canada are not relevant rebuttals becuase they have lower populations thus resulting in a less overall cost, yet their medicine is still shit as compared to current American medicine? And taxation is not a viable method of paying for it because the wealthy are not wealthy enough and even if they were, they would just move to avoid having their money taken?
>>
>>73350753
Basically yes.
The UK likes to pride itself on the NHS being the cheapest form of healthcare but cheap does not mean good.

nice!

Those are some good points, but l need source on your gif, man

He's not wrong. Sanders is a communist.

However what he proposes isn't communism, although I believe he proposes it to get to a communist state.
>>
I'm sure it would work fine
read: Fucking terribly
But thats socialism, and they teach everyone that without their socialist healthcare you would die.

Okay, I accept that argument. Actually I accept all your points, they seem quite solid and sensical in my book. Honestly, I'm not too educated on policy outside of shitposting and I appreciate the redpill.

This is the ramblings of a 13 year old tumblrina, who has never paid taxes.

There are certain "demographics" who are an ENORMOUS drain on the system as-is. These are people who don't believe in marriage, don't pay taxes, and yet they feel like its a good idea to have 6 kids a piece. UK and Canada don't have an American south. They don't have Detroit or Baltimore.

We also have 30 million illegals.

>hurr tax the rich
Ya. Lets kill growth and investment. Definitely no long-term ramifications there or anything.

You are a fucking moron, and I hope you either have one of your parents smack some sense into you or are thrown from a helicopter.

Would you go shopping in a store that asks you to pay 10x more than everyone else because you have more money than them?

This is the worst fucking way to make an argument

You sound like the reverse side of the tumblrina coin youre shouting about.

Be calm and people are more likely to listen to you.
If you read the thread youll find that OP was actually curious and wanted to hear arguments about the OP.
