She's widely considered to have been a very good secretary of state.

"All the lies and corruption" is a meaningless. Anybody who has held a public office for as long as she has is going to be involved with things that those who dislike her will interpret as "lies and corruption." It's part and parcel of being a politician.

It takes a level of maturity and insight to speak objectively about these matters, and you aren't making the grade.

There are plenty of things about Hillary Clinton that I don't care for and I didn't even support her way back 2000 when she ran for Senator of NY (I considered her an opportunistic carpet-bagger).

That said, the idea that she'd is a less qualified candidate or would be a less effective president than Donald Trump is a exercise in a pitiful level of ignorance. Hillary Clinton is a centrist, establishment-type candidate who will change nothing, but will also run the country reasonably well for however long she serves and who will not do anything reckless. She will also likely make excellent supreme court appointments.
>>

A Hillary presidency would be anything but haphazard - it, in fact, would be ultra-competent. A person might not personally like what she stands for or what she wants to do, but the idea that someone who has spent the last 26 years either in the white house or in Congress would lead a "haphazard" administration is either a total fool with virtually no understanding of how government works, or is just trolling.

Hillary Clinton can rightly be criticized as likely not being a reformer and being beholden to a particular set of special interests, but the idea that her administration would lack competence and/or be filled with any but highly qualified individuals is utterly preposterous.

The gulf in competence, ability, presidential temperment and deal-making ability between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is an impossibly wide chasm.

Everyone would have been better off if she, and people like her, had done absolutely NOTHING in the middle east. They destabilized it and all their plans fell flat. How can you be competent if any random person would have done better than you by leaving it mostly as it is?

>>
The extent to which the Republican Congress has thwarted 2nd term Obama is almost totally unprecedented, but that would look like hands across America compared to what you'd have if there is a president loathed by most politicians in both parties.

It would be difficult enough for a third-party candidate (which, effectively, Trump is) to govern as president, but it could be done by an exceptional, pragmatic individual who genuinely cared about getting things done. Trump is none of these things, in spades..

His administration would also be haphazard, because Trump has displayed an appallingly low aptitude for most of the issues that he speaks about, and has wildly flailed, policy-wise, between divergent perspectives - somethings within the same speech/interview/debate, plus, there is almost nobody with any actual experience who wants to work with Trump.

The attitude that Trump as president would ultimately be more or less like anybody else that a particular liber/conservative/etc. is opposed to is so profoundly ignorant that it's scary. But so are most Trump supporters. And Trump himself.

This doesn't in any way support your earlier hypothesis that she will be "bad."

It's about her campaigning skills. Which she'll require barely any of to defeat Donald Trump, anyway.

The qualities that make for a good candidate have little in common with the qualities that would make a good president. Hillary Clinton's potential weaknesses as a candidate are generally known and agreed upon by most commentators.

She had her goons demand the personal information of every comedian that made fun of her at the Laugh Factory, despite the fact the jokes made about her were incredibly tame in comparison to jokes made about literally every male politician ever.

That is the only reason I need to disapprove of her candidacy. If she's so insecure as to have her goons round up every last bit of dissent now, I don't want to see her in office with even more power at her disposal.

As far as facts, that's all I've done is provide them.

You, on the other hand, do nothing but provide written materials by others that you're too dumb to even understand well enough to properly use to support your arguments.

I mean, if you're a GED candidate with a resume thick on coal mining and slaugherhouse gigs and have a hard time with words larger than two syllables, then I understand why you're part of Trump's narrow swath of supporters.

Bernie Sanders does very well with the educated. Trump isn't winning *any* educated independents or Democrats.

I'm not completely writing off Trump because a terrorist attack would probably favor him, as would an an indictment against Clinton. Also, it's not unprecedented for negative television ads based purely on fiction to work (see: Willie Horton, Swift Boaters).

However, I also believe that in the very unlikely event that Trump enters the fall with any kind of a pucher's chance the CIA will probably have him killed.

Quite simply, there is virtually no possible way for him to ever actually become president.

In Iraq:

He also called for 30,000 ground troops in Syria this year:

Yes but saying Goldman isn't an issue and going farther by saying it benefits mankind is absurd. Nobody here is railing against capitalism, but corruption is corruption. Why is that there iz a revolving door between Goldman and the White House, or the Treasury dept? And no I don't want to hear about how they are in the know or qualified, etc. It's ALWAYS Goldman. And when they fleeced the American public, nobody went to jail because the justice department decided they were above the law and nobody went to jail? Just stop..

Hillary's VP is most likely going to be Elizabeth Warren.

If you follow both of them on Twitter, and have paid attention to their behavior over the last year, you know why.

1) Hillary wrote this article on Warren a year ago:
http://time.com/3823064/elizabeth-warren-2015-time-100/

2) Hillary hinted last month that she'd be working closely with Warren in the future:

http://www.politicususa.com/2016/04/06/hillary-clinton-hints-closely-working-elizabeth-warren.html

3) Warren has remained neutral during the primaries, but this makes sense from a strategic perspective. If she had endorsed Hillary, the Bernie faction would've accused her of being a sell-out. By staying neutral, she can more effectively act as a mediator between the two factions when she accepts the VP slot.

4) Warren is also free of the Cold War baggage that Bernie has. Her background -- Oklahoma native who was a Republican until the 1990s -- means she's not as much a liability in the VP slot as Bernie and other hard left candidates might be.

5) Hillary has said she wants a VP who can function as an attack dog. Warren has repeatedly attacked Trump and Cruz on Twitter. She first did this around a month ago, which I think was a test run to see how Trump might attack her during the general election. Her latest round came this week right after Trump won Indiana. Hillary's Twitter account retweeted this:

https://twitter.com/elizabethforma/status/727692197148119040

Note that, as far as I can see, Hillary only retweets her campaign staff/advisers. Warren has been the exception. This is what convinced me that Warren's probably getting the VP nod. (I know Hillary doesn't handle all of her tweets manually, but that retweet was likely approved by her.)
>>
>>73154807
6) I know this choice seems to contradict "conventional wisdom" in many ways, but that's exactly why I think Hillary will go through with it. Recall that Bill's selection of Al Gore in 1992 also violated the "conventional wisdom" at the time. The CW -- that she needs someone from a swing state, that she needs a male or an ethnic minority for balance, that she needs someone much younger -- is mostly bunk anyway and not supported by data.

Hillary knows people think of her as a "safe, centrist, establishment-friendly" candidate, and she'll want a bold VP choice who'll force people to reconsider that image of her. A two female ticket with a progressive like Warren accomplishes that.

Likewise, a two female ticket will send Republican misogyny into overdrive, especially with Trump as the nominee with his high disapproval ratings among women. It'll bait them into alienating more and more female voters.

I also think President Hillary will govern to the left of her husband, for the reasons outlined here:

I like how the paid hillary shills are coming here in force now that they realize they actually have to beat Trump.

It's pretty sad that they think they can use memes to promote things that aren't meme.
They won't be able to channel memes until they realize that nobody is in control of them. But if they realized that then they would realize that they weren't in control of it either and that would bruise their stupid little meatspace egos.

It'll be fun figuratively scraping their hearts off of our shoes when memes destroy everything they love and hold dear.

Tim Kaine would've made a great VP for Obama if Biden declined, but he's too "safe" and uninspiring for this election. He's affable and has a solid resume, but he won't bring any excitement to the ticket, and I can't imagine him faring well if Trump goes after him. Kaine suffers from the same charisma deficit that Jeb did. Mark Warner likewise.

I actually do think Al Franken would be a solid choice, insofar as he's unconventional and has populist appeal. His comedian background would make it difficult for Trump's jabs to stick. And unlike Trump, he's smart and substantial on policy and holds a statewide office, so he wouldn't damage the credibility of the ticket.

Amy Klobuchar, also from Minnesota, is an intriguing possibility if Clinton wants a two female ticket with someone besides Warren.

Julian Castro was a popular choice back when it was thought Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio might be the nominee, but he's fallen out of favor. I think he'd be a disaster anyway because his resume is so thin and he's such an obviously pandering choice. I don't think Clinton needs a Hispanic VP with Trump on the opposing side, but if she does, Tom Perez is the better pick.

I think the irony of this election is that a daring choice which might prove risky in a normal election year is actually less risky this year, while playing it too safe could potentially backfire on Clinton by deflating the base's enthusiasm.

"And she couldn't even stay in as Secretary of State."

???

Most cabinet members only stay on for a term. She wanted to run for president in 2016, so it would make perfect sense to not be working for the current administration when she started the campaign season.

Which resulted in the creation of ISIS (yes, Hillary created ISIS...) that has cost millions of people's lives including terror attacks in Europe and many countless casualties in the 100s of THOUSANDS in Iraq and Syria

2. How is Hillary capable when she established a private e-mail server which she used for top secret information and State - department business... A server which has been hacked by entities outside of the US using off the shelf scripts??? And she deleted 30,000 emails!! Obstruction of justice...

3. She defended a rapist who raped a 12 year old girl and was gloating and laughing about it... Does this strike you as a person with a conscience? Does this strike you as a person who would think before putting Americans lives in danger? Who has even a SHRED of empathy???

4. She's a closet racist and her dearest friend Robert Byrd is an example of that (former KKK and Hillary supporter).

5. Mountains of evidence regarding Watergate scandal... Further proof of her disingenuous character.

6. Using Bill Clinton for political means... She didn't stay with him for love... Just for personal gain... She's worse than Frank/Claire Underwood.

7. Bill chooses others over her. Why should we choose her over others.

Not getting anything done is *not* business as usual.

The number of Sanders supporters who switch to Trump will be miniscule. Why would they switch? Trump stands for nearly the opposite of Bernie's platform.

I feel for the Sanders people; I really do.

Bernie Sanders entered the campaign for the purpose of bringing his touchstone issues to the general political discussion. That's why he entered the race early. He knew that the Democratic Party was not going to run any credible candidate against her, so if there was going to be smattering of crackpots and also-rans entering the race for the purpose of saying their bit and getting to be a warm body at a debate podium, he wanted to be the best of the crackpots and also-rans and get the most air time. He was an old man at the end of his political career and had nothing to lose. And, frankly, if a Jewish socialist-leaning politician from Brooklyn by way of Vermont was ever going to give the presidency a shot, those are pretty much the only conditions under which one would do it.

Never did Bernie Sanders, 10 months ago, think for a moment that he had any chance of actually winning the nomination.

Which is why his close loss stings him and his supporters all the more. He actually *did* have a chance to win, against a candidate who turned out to be more flawed than the Democratic Party handlers thought, but he didn't do enough things right to make it happen. It's practically crazy to think of Bernie Sanders mulling over the one or two things he could have done differently in two or three states that could have flipped the whole race in his favor, but it's true. He really did come that close.

All that said, all you really need to know about this article to peg how little the writer actually knows about politics, is right here:

"The idea that only Clinton can defeat Trump is a myth, promulgated by Hillary supporters. Polls taken over the last nine months in fact show Sanders faring better than Clinton in a hypothetical match-up against Trump."
>>
>>73158036

This is an utter joke. Bernie Sanders is not a national political figure. The primaries - even a primary season as crazy and which got as much media coverage as this year's - engage only a small fraction of the general election electorate. A huge segment of the people who will vote for president in November have almost no idea who Bernie Sanders is and what he stands for. Any national general election polling on Bernie Sanders would be very nearly useless at this stage. Conversely, polling on Hillary Clinton (and Trump, though admittedly to a lesser extent) is much more accurate because she's been a national political figure for so many years. Sanders even had the built-in benefit of Hillary Clinton not running a negative campaign against him. Whatever the polls say about Bernie Sanders right now simply aren't based on anything solid.

Bernie Sanders would be a weaker general election candidate than Hillary Clinton. Significantly weaker. Which is not to say that he could not beat Donald Trump. However, the odds would be against it, IMO. Trump would rip him to shreds and his numbers against Trump would plummet down to about even in a fairly short period of time. There is nothing that Sanders can do to change the fact that 1) he's a Brooklyn Jewish socialist, and 2) he doesn't perform well with his party's go-to Demographics (women and minorities). Those things make him a weaker national candidate than Hillary Clinton, no matter who he is running against.

Not getting anything done is *not* business as usual.

You're not being specific at all.

That's the same argument used against Bernie.

It doesn't work for Trump.

>Jeff Sessions
>Newt Gingrich
>Ben Carson
>Rand Paul
>Chris Christie

and soon Rick Perry, and many others in congress will be on Trumps side.

The "it's pointless to try" argument is actually a pointless argument when used against Trump.

Republicans in congress WANT a good immigration reform, they want secure borders.

Even Cruz started promising a wall when he realized that's what people wanted.

A vote for Hillary is a vote for a Wal-Mart executive, whose campaign is funded by Goldman Sachs. As secretary of state she backed military coups against democracies in Egypt and Honduras, while fostering the chaos that led to the rise of jihadis in Syria and Libya. She's also never voted against a war - and if elected, she'll drag us into another Kosovo, Iraq or Afghanistan.

I'm voting third party this election. I don't want the blood of hundreds of thousands on my hands.

>>
>>73159035
I can't stand reflexive bashing of Goldman Sachs and other large investment banks. Wall Street firms have been responsible for a lot of shady and destructive behavior, which most certainly requires greater addressing than it currently does, but on the whole large investment firms such as Goldman Sachs are among the greatest forces for good in the history of mankind.

>It's about her campaigning skills.

First of all, campaigning skills do not equate to quality in Presidential leadership.

Second of all, Trump is better at campaigning than Hillary is.

His crowds are bigger, he's way more popular, and he will be covered by the media 24/7

Any publicity is good publicity, and that publicity forces people to look at his views.

Haven't you heard the people on /r/sandersforpresident saying that they'll vote for Trump over Bernie?

The reason for that is that Trump and Bernie are actually more alike than people think.

As for your argument that Trump isn't conservative enough, it's already clear that a traditional republican and/or a traditional democrat will not win this election.

People are thinking beyond that now.

You can shill and be as obvious as you want.

But when it comes to actual comprehensive arguments about whether or not Trump has a chance, you're going to lose.

Trump DOES have a chance, that's not something you can make people stop believing.

You can't facilitate lies about his chances like was done with the Bernie supporters.

and you ESPECIALLY can't convince /pol/ to stop with their support.

A handful of the older white men might switch, in an "FU" move, but that's it. None of the younger Bernie supporters will. Trump is generally viewed as toxic to people under 30, from virtually any background to begin with, and young Bernie supporters would actually have to live in a world scarred by a Trump presidency for decades to come. At worst, they stay home. Staying home won't be enough for Trump to beat Hillary.

You're delusional if you truly believe that.

Go read /r/sandersforpresident for a while.

They are split. There's a reason you see a 15% DNC going for Trump with only an 8% of GOP going for Hillary.

I think it will be slightly more than miniscule but I think that those who are predicting a mass exodus from Sanders to Trump are delusional. You can't, because our foreign policy theme is nonexistent, discordant, and puts other countries and people first.

Hillary has proven time and again to be against basically the ENTIRE bill of rights, while simultaneously trying to be perceived as their champion.

She thoroughly dropped the ball as Secretary of State on several occasions, and then has the temerity to say she's the most qualified to be POTUS.

She didn't just sell out women everywhere with the way she handled her husbands repeated affairs, she actively tried to undermine the very women that wanted Bill held to account.

She's a BAD politician, a BAD human being, and BAD for America.
