This, a lot of Americans with low income all work multiple jobs
You do what all of us do in the US these days; work at least 2 jobs.
I've been employed full-time at one university and been an adjunct instructor at a community college since Januay '99.
Get a roommate. Work more than 40 hours a week. I used to average 60 hours a week at $9.75/hr in the summers between college. Once you get used to it its not so bad and if you show basic competence you will eventually move up to management. People making minimum wage past the age of 20 are just incompetent idiots. Even the mexicans digging ditches at construction sites make at least $10/hr.
You dont, if you are on minimum wage you are, by definition, not "making it"
Honestly, if you want to not work minimum wage and don't want to go to College just learn a fucking trade. You will never be rich but you will live a solid middle class life. And that is a blessing.
All you need to do is take the initiative and learn something.
You don't. Minimum wage jobs are for high school shitters who need job experience, but aren't old enough for a real job. By the time you need to pay rent, utilities, and food, you should hopefully be able to get something far better. If you can't, then kill yourself.
I can walk into any factory in the area, and walk out 5 minutes later with a job that pays 3x minimum wage. The only requirement? You have to pass a test that's literally a "Are you a retard?" test, and the fact that I could pass that test should be proof enough that any random shitter out there should be able to.
I have less than minimum wage. I live on social security. I live with my mom.
I am trying to change it though. When you take it at face value it seems like the whole system is rigged against you. I have been looking into van dwelling though. So that's my plan, to live in a fucking van. I'll have solar panels on the roof so I can have electricity and a gym membership so I can shower. Homeless with benefits.
I want to work though. I want to save up money to eventually build a house of my own. I want to own one, no fucking mortgage or anything. I have the financials of everything worked out in my head. Over the next few months I'll use my NEETbux to buy a van and fit it with everything I need. I'll sell all my expensive shit I own so I can do this.
I'm looking in the south florida area, look at this rent. I think this is average nation wide. I never shared an apt or home before, but they really want me to pay 600+ for just a room and a place to shit, right?
My point is that illegals and niggers straight out of prison get hired here daily making much more than min wage since people are fucking soft and lazy. I'm making almost 17 and I dropped out in 9th grade.
Simple they live with their parents, or they get together with one or three of their friends, and become roomates, and share the rent on some living quarters, perferably some budget lodgings type arrangement.
Get a couple roomates together and you can live so cheap you almost don't need a job.
This. Also people should realize you shouldn't buy a house and try to raise kids on a single person's minimum wage job. It's easy to live on minimum wage if you rent an apartment with 1-2 friends
People forget that shit in America is cheap as fuck, relatively. You can live frugally in most cities on minimum wage. In rural areas minimum is enough for a light entertainment budget
I refused to serve under Obama and watch him fuck up what I helped make happen for a decade. Using my GI bill atm to get my ba but there's no real work where I live and I cant move.
You have to live in a flop house and compete with immigrants saturating the labor pool and suppressing the value of your labor. The upper class including the lower middle class are happy to keep you there. We have gone from Grade 8 being the entry level of the labor market to a 4 year degree with a shit load of debt on a treadmill for life.
That's why you work under the table, tell the state to go fuck itself, and steal anything not bolted down to get ahead. Fuck society.
minimum wAGE is for first job / students still living at home... Hold almost any job for 6 months get a raise and keep getting raises until you make the same 60k a year everyone makes... only losers/ idiots stay minimum
The theory is pretty simple, either 1) make more money or 2) reduce your expenses.
Do this by either getting a better job (maybe armed services) or work more hours (get another job). You can also reduce expenses by getting a roommate (or two) and making a strict budget and sticking to it.
Save/borrow money to attend a trade school or cheap college.
>work ~25 hours a week minimum wage (10.5 CND)
>split staple groceries power and wifi; heat turned off in the winter unless someone's in the room
>airbnb in the summer covers utilities for a few months
>make our own beer and cider
>food, alcohol, heat, everything covered for <350 a month
Communal living really does work.
This is from one of the fastest growing cities in California btw.
Its a shithole, but its cheap as hell. Houses here get huge for much cheaper than what you'll pay for some cardboard box in bigger cities. Also theres tons of work, but the oil slump hit us hard
>low rent apartment
>don't use too much water/electricity (short showers, don't let the faucet run, natural lighting, low wattage/low setting stuff)
>cheap but good food (spaghetti for two meals is less than $2, cheaper than that if you don't buy stuff to make it taste better)
I'd have no problem except for one issue.
No place to jerk off and shit in privacy. Doubly so in the port cities where rent is going to fuck your asshole inside out.
Flop housing should not be encouraged by suppressing the labor pool and flooding the country with foreign capital (that they refuse to even generate revenue off of). It's stupid in Canada, it's shit in Singapore, and it isn't ideal to push the NZIRP bubble bullshit we have going on.
You can't, really. It doesn't matter though, those jobs are for students or people who are unfit for pretty much any other kind of labor. Hell, being a bottom of the barrel manual laborer pays ten or twelve bucks an hour starting out, and there are opportunities to learn a trade. You have to have some serious problems to stay at 7.25 an hour.
>How does a guy make it on minimum wage in America?
You use it by having multiple job experience, thus helping you find a better job. Quit trying to live off minimum wage. You are what's making your country lazier and less sophisticated.
You should move somewhere cheaper.
My college apartment in Morgantown, WV had:
>1300 sq ft
>Full-sized kitchen, appliances included, granite counter top
>Full sized bath
>50 Mb/s free internet
>Free shuttle from the apartment complex around downtown/campus
All for $550/month.
I worked minimum wage, $7.25 hour 37 hours a week, in 2014.
I made enough to pay every month:
$500 in student loans
$0 cell phone (google voice is free and wifi is fucking everywhere)
I had enough money left over to buy a $300 round trip ticket home for Christmas.
The people bitching about "not making it" on minimum wage are morons who can't handle money at all and/or have horrible vices like smoking that cost them $5+ per day.
>Tfw got job at a bread factory starting at $17/hour
Just got the call that I got the job today. Last job was bussing in a sushi place under the table for minimum wage (7.55).
Crazy part is that the bread factory only hires people with college educations, or veteran status.
Really shows where a degree sits these days.
I'm in my mid 20's. I don't know where you live, but where I live, we have a shitload of manufacturing (that can't be automated), and not enough people willing to work it. It even caused a wage war, where the local factories started competing with each other with wages and benefits, to try and get more people in. Of course, the other millennials are too good to work factory jobs, so they'd rather sit around all day, protesting stupid shit, and complaining about how they can't find a job.
>I can walk into any factory in the area, and walk out 5 minutes later with a job that pays 3x minimum wage.
3x minimum wage is what, like $22/hr? Get fucking real. Most factory jobs around here pay like $14/hr if that and there's like three thousand people applying for every fifteen openings. I doubt you even have a job.
You work multiple jobs. You learn to make a months meals on $100 of food. You cram as many people into as small as a space as possible. You become really good at making and following a budget
Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps when you're poor is a meme. When you're poor being poor everything makes you more poor. You basically need to put your nose to the grindstone and MAYBE your kids might have a better life.
You fucking lying cuck ignorant faggot ass piece of shit.
Minimum wage was invented for being the MINIMUM wage someone could be paid but STILL LIVE OFF OF.
There's a problem when minimum wage cannot even net you a studio apartment.
Fuck off and die in a hole, then go to hell, and die there too.
>mfw all the fast food jobs are slowly being replaced by robots and 3 million jobs will be lost in America
that's not bad at all. i was thinking in getting into real estate as an entrepreneurial job, but i think i'm just kidding myself.
thanks for the replies everyone, im reading all of it.
A friend of mine once subbed a job out to me because he was too busy and I made a grand for two days work. The job was fixing a chain link fence at a cell tower that had fallen down. Fucking digging holes, planting new posts, checking that it was true and level, mixing sacrete, mounting stringer and caps, stretching the fabric. Fucking done.
The work is out there if you aren't a giant retard pussy and willing to work with your hands.
I honestly don't understand how the mother fuck anyone works a minimum wage "career".
Say you lived a shitty as fuck life, ready to have your mind blown?
You have no parents, no friends, no government assistance. You have a balance of $800, and no job. How on earth will you ever make it in the USA? Woe is me woe is me woe is me.
Well stop fucking crying about it you god damned pussy. This isn't Africa, Iraq, or India. It's so motherfucking easy to make it here, you just have to be willing to put in a little fucking bit of work.
Here goes: Find a roommate or maybe even 2. This is the shittiest part but you have no choice. You can easily get away with paying only like $250 a month in rent if you find roommates.
Now, the important step: GO TO TRADE SCHOOL YOU MOTHERFUCKING STUPID IMBECILE. Jesus Christ it's so fucking inexpensive you can even afford it on minimum wage. Programs usually run between $1600-4000 for a 1 year program. I know this because I am both an LPN and a HVACR air conditioning technician. I make $21 an hour at age 26. It isn't very good, I'm aware of this before all of you self made millionaire faggots come in here raining on my parade, but I did it myself.
I worked 45 hours a week as a fucking fry cook, took a part time trade class, which I had to pay off in increments of $400. I even power washed the fucking restraunt for some extra cash when I told my boss I was having trouble with my money.
I also still had enough extra cash each month to buy a video game each month, or to spend a day with friends. Was it an ideal paradise world? No it fucking sucked. But Jesus Christ it's possible.
The only way someone stays at minimum wage forever is because they don't care to try. They can't go a night without their cigarettes and liquor, so they have no concept of saving money to better themselves.
Work 50-60 hours a week, budget your money carefully. In 2011 I was making $1600 a month and living off about $700 a month, living on my own in a one bedroom apartment with a paid for vehicle. My rent was $375 a month.
It's worse in Canada as the labor mobility is fucking atrocious.
We have 3 major hubs, only 2 of which are viable unless you speak french.
Both of those two have massive CPI due to foreign capital influx from China, they are buying the entire country. In my city rental vacancy rates are under 0.5% and a tiny one bedroom bachelor will now run you 90% of your take home. Food and other bills are also retardly expensive and we have income/sales taxes.
Every idiot has a student loan in some garbage, no one can afford to fuck nevermind bread and circuses anymore. I hope the kikes pushing that realize they can't fly out the country with suitcases full of money like they did in the French revolution, we know where they are at all times now.
You walk past your roommates with lube on your cock to your shared bathing facilities?
Minimum wage use to = minimum amount of money you need to live. It became what you stated thanks to fucking retards like you. More and more adults are working on minimum wage and because of faggots like you families are starving.
Oh what's that? They shouldn't have taken that job? Guess what, that was the only thing they could find.
Oh what's that? Just fucking move? how and with what money they don't have because they were just barely getting by with their previous job that paid better that was outsourced?
Oh what's that? They should've saved? You have a point, but that money was used to cover a medical bill you fuck.
Sick fucks like you are what's wrong with this nation, the minimum wage needs to raise with the cost of living. It hasn't raised in forever. Before you say it will substantially cause things to cost more, well guess what? everything is already going up except minimum fucking wage.
You know what I hope happens to sick fucks like you? I hope you have to live on minimum wage working 2 - 3 jobs at a time for the rest of your life with maybe 3 hrs of sleep and you just barely make ends meet because your baby mama isn't leaving or doing anything and will take your money anyway if you leave her or kick her out. Because that would be pure justice.
I've never made minimum wage in my life. Even at my first job. It's not that hard to find ones that pay better.
Just don't work at some shitty fast food place like a fucking nigger.
you can get 3$ bags of rice that will feed you for a week. it tastes like shit, but's it's cheap, and if you really care, it's not hard to add flavors to it
the further you get from a city, the cheaper rent gets, and it's not like you need to live near a city for a minimum wage job. and even then, you can get a mid-size apartment near-ish to a city and split rent/utilities with 3 other dudes and each take a room
minimum wage is shit to live on, but then again, it isn't made to live on
Typically you aren't supposed to pay rent and bills on minimum wage. Those jobs use yo be for teenagers and college students.
I have two roommates, pay $500 a month rent. I work 40 hours a week at $8.10, just cents above minimum wage.
Just about $320 dollars a week, minus tax, minus $50 for food, so I'm left with around $230-$250 a week. After two weeks, I got rent paid. I have a shit phone that's $15 a month too. As long as you don't mind living like a poor person, it's not bad.
I'm a student, so I'm not planning on living this way my entire life, but I probably could.
Felons get a tax deduction, a lot of places love to pay felons decent cash because uncle sam subsidizes it to hell and back. Really bad in the food business. Basically covers about 8-9 dollars an hour of the felons pay.
I love in LA's south bay. I worked retail days and security nights. Able to pay rent for a single bedroom all bills and feed myself plus internet (very important to me). I've since doubled my hourly income so I can afford to work only one job. It's possible but the real danger is you can't invest or save any significant amount of money.
I live in the city in a 1 room apartment. Utilities included. No car. No insurance.
Rent is $500, food maybe $250.
I actually earn 6x that amount, but I'm not much of a consumer. Some day I might blow the balance on a beach house.
I did work a minimum wage job, it was 6.25/hr at Mcdonalds when i was fucking 14. Legal working age. At 14 and 3 months old, I was already smarter then fucks like you. I also have a great family who have done nothing but encourage me with nothing but love. I guess i'm just privileged.
room mates, learn how to do the poverty shuffle, eat slop, enjoy it while you can.
eventually you have to nut up and actually live up to your potential. take some risks and put yourself out there. I did drugs and lived in trap houses through my 20s, worked wage slave jobs, and went to community college. if you aren't at least doing something productive or creative with the freedom of accepting poverty you are doing it wrong
why do women have two teats? I mean, wouldn't just one big one in the middle be enough? Is it so that two babies can suckle at the same time, one on each, in the event of twins? I doubt this. Seems inefficient. Can we get an evolutionary biologist in here to explain it. This has really bothered me.
Unless you were born into a family that lived below the poverty line, your post isn't applicable to most people in poverty.
You think a single mother has time to go to trade school while juggling 3 part time jobs? Save money? Hell do you think she has time to even look for jobs that you can't apply for on the spot.
>inb4 hurrrr poor whores shouldn't have kids
Hindsight is 20/20. Often people in poverty have poor access to condoms and sex education. In fact, the majority of people born into poverty never leave, and their kids are put in the same cycle. I bet you really thought you were saying something clever huh
I'm sure it's an optimized number for the average offspring suckling at any given point. Bigger litters = more teats. Plus bilateral symmetry probably means one would actually require more genetic reprogramming rather than less.
Yeah he subbed it out to me because he knew I wouldn't fuck it up. I have a real job and this was just for beer money.
See, I was the one doing the favor for my friend. Not the other way around. He didn't have anyone else on his staff that could do it properly without supervision so he phoned a friend rather than take a hit to his reputation by rejecting the job or sending out one of his mongoloids to fuck it up proper.
People that can work independently, problem solve, and get shit done are rare as fuck and they make way more than minimum fucking wage.
Government benefits. Food stamps give you $200/month for food. Section 8 housing, or living at home or with roommates, will cut your housing costs down. Certain food choices are good for your finances too. Cook with chicken, rice, beans, potatoes, onions, eggs, pasta, and other cheap things. Thrift stores are also a fantastic way to save money. Clothes, appliances, furniture, electronics, etc. can all be found there. With $1200/month, your biggest problems are rent and bills, but at least these things will help ease the costs and make it easier to pay those.
is this worth $675 ??
i'll sleep on the floor i dont give a fuck, but damn, is this normal? kendall area...
im picking south florida because that's where i used to live. im afraid of going to another town ... being a bitch i know :(
Why are you fucking talking about a single mother?
> Hurr durr you thought you were saying something clever
I was explaining my life to you you ignorant fuckwit. This isn't hypothetical. This is something I did. I put myself through trade school while working as a fry cook with no outside help, and now make $21 an hour and live in relative comfort.
I could literally give two shits about some single mother.
> Hindsight is 20/20 for a single mother heart derrr
I literally don't care. I don't care if a single mother lives in poverty and I literally don't care whatsoever about her life. I really don't. Why the fuck would you even bring this dumb shit up?
I was telling my story to guys out there who might think it's impossible to make something of themselves with very little going for them, to prove it isn't impossible.
>How does a guy make it on minimum wage in America?
Minimum wage should not be a living wage because minimum wage jobs should not be careers.
>McDonald's can't cover that.
That's why you either advance to a manager at McDonald's or work there until you find a better job to move to.
You should not be able retire after working as a burger flipper for 50 years.
Good point, though those structures are still bilaterally symmetrical in their development and have the body midline as their axis. Started off as two structures offset from the midline - reprogramming that as a single structure - fuck I dunno - but evolution has all sorts of weird fossil items that are easier to just keep rather than fix. Probably average litter size is a factor though.
this is the key- when I didn't feel like making decisions and taking responsibility I was only going to get paid min wage. no real stress though because how bad can you fuck up?
find a position where your decision making skills are actually required and you get paid 5-10x minimum wage
you don't. minimum wage will not cover the bills, especially if something happens like you get sick or if you get in a car wreck, which happen to a lot of people if not everyone.
capitalism is shit like that. money isn't even real.
this is common and no employer likes it.
i have temps that do this and it pisses me off. they won't commit to me and they aren't worth twice what they make.
basically they get to make double their wage with half the work/responsibility, so long as they show up and do the bare fucking minimum.
fucking niggers man.
If you're working a minimum wage job and you're older than 18 you're literally a retard. You can easily get a job that makes more than that within a day if you know where to look and don't show up to the interview 30 minutes late, stoned, and wearing a tshirt and cargo shorts.
it's pretty easy- a bag of chicken breasts, black beans and field peas in can, cut broccoli , butter, multivitamins, rice.
you'll still have enough left to buy a couple burgers off the dollar menu on Friday to keep your spirits up
They are outliers because, as I outlined in my post, people don't know how to save money. Whether that means locating affordable housing via use of multiple roommates, properly budgeting food, or avoiding luxury items such as cigarettes or $80 dollar binge drinking nights on the town twice a week.
I understand cases like mine are outliers, because people are fucking retarded in general. They don't have the integrity or fortitude to enter a gym, quit smoking, quit drinking, or suck it up for 1-2 years and cut out leisure activities like drugs and alcohol to better their futures.
Also, again. The op asked a question "How can a guy make it on minimum wage" and you started rattling off some retarded shit about being a single mother.
I know you didn't bring it up again, but I really cannot stress to you enough how little I care about a single mother who didn't have the discipline to not pop out a kid in poverty. Like I just don't care at all.
Where I live having two jobs is next to impossible. 95% of the employers will schedule you in a way to prevent you from ever getting a second job. They want to dangle 15-25 hours a week over your head and make you beg constantly and feel indebted and full of gratitude over it. It makes me sick. Its one thing if you can't fill a whole week of work, that doesn't mean I'm available all week just in case you MIGHT need me. On call is even worse.
cases like yours are outliers because in reality it is easier to receive welfare and be subsidized by the state then to make something of yourself
there is no incentive for those receiving welfare to get off welfare when they actually receive the same benefits of someone working a minimum wage job
you can thank liberals for the welfare state
Some good answers so far in this thread. I was about to suggest "roommates" and "careful budgeting". But now I'd like to add the fact that there should be no serious poverty in America if people would be more careful with their money. There is no starvation. There is no abject poverty. You can "get by" on a minimum wage job, but the idea that government is there to take care of you ... that's what democrats want you to think.
>"After I buy absolutely everything I need I don't have money for muh xbawks..."
>"Life is such suffering!"
You soft fucking white kids need to learn how cozy you fucking have it. Maybe you'll stop bitching if you actually once had it rough.
You live in WV I live in VA Beach and all of them are $700+ if you go north to Norfolk its a nigger town and you can get shit for $500 but its going to be gang infested shithole all the surrounding areas are about that much and located in nigger infested areas.
HAHAH One fucking room for $500 LOL! Yeah okay man good luck having someone pay that for a fucking single room.
id you seriously think that you can work somewhere 15-25 hours a week and not work your way up, you're full of shit.
you best be begging the supervisor or manager and asking for extra work, working on THEIR terms, and next thing you know you're still a bitch nigga but you're ahead of all the other bitch niggas.
as for on call, i've already been called for the last 5 hours after i left work, having to walk people through shit over the phone. good thing my tech shop manager makes much more than me so he can afford to get called in all the time.
>3x min wage
Yeah no, not in the current year. The premise of your post is correct but that number is not at all true.
Most warehouse and manufacturing jobs (ones simple enough to get without a trade edication) pay like $12-15/hr around me and i live in a big metro area where wages are high.
you go to college, get a degree in physics, struggle to find an engineering job for 3 years while student debt racks up, all the while working at pizza hut AND publix, shitpost about your misfortune, and then kill yourself
how did anons do in school? you know, in high school? you remember all those things that teacher or the guidance counselor said about focusing in school -- did you do it?
and if you didn't, isn't that why you're making minimum right now?
we reap what we sow
I live in west virginia. Yeah the cost of living is low but so are the wages. 90% of the jobs here pay 9-10 TOPS. Always part time.
You need some sort of certification or a buddy buddy thing going to get even decent trade or semi trade jobs. Expect maybe 11-13 an hour if you are VERY lucky. Thats considered middle class here.
The first thing is to work 40 hours a week MINIMUM. Closer to the 50-60 range if you're minimum.
-live alone but in a shitty part of town
-or buy a foreclosed house (could get a good house with a mortgage of 100-200/mo)
-electric heaters and blankets in winter
-box fans annd open windows in summer
-water costs virtually nothing
-buy internet only (no cable or landline phone)
-eat a lot of rice/beans/meat
-avoid fast food/convenience items
If you make minimum wage in the USA all of your expenses can be subsidized, from rent to food to utilities to health care.
If you can't make it here then you are probably stupid and being jewed.
Are you a nigger? Maybe I want to fucking go to school and better myself. Not every "white boi" is given a middle class family to grow up in you stupid fuck.
8/10, raged for a second.
Don't forget your $300/mo. health insurance plan, which is now a requirement by law or else you pay a $625 penalty per person (which will probably increase again next year).
I worked for a place that required me to be there at odd hours, never gave me a raise in 4yrs that I was working there, and still had me travel for work. Hours sometimes ranged from 30hrs which was max(rare) to 10hrs weekly the combination of old people in the low skilled workers position and the fact that corporations hire multiple part time people not allowing for any full time work. Now with obamacare I believe they've started trying to get around paying anything for workers.
i thought as much. i guess it's fucked as far as south FL goes
multiple, if not all the people here say get two jobs. im scared of landing ONE job then looking for the next and they say "nah you have a job, we wont hire you".
they say you gotta be 10,000% honest in an interview so ...
On the bright side I can trade my chickens and goats for veggies and fresh deer jerky with surrounding farmers/hunters in my hollow.
My mother makes most of the soap in use by our neighbors herself, even.
The answer is you don't. A minimum wage job is meant to be a hold over until you find something better, or a starter job for children who are still in school and want or need side money.
McDonalds is not supposed to be a career, and people are losing focus thinking that it is.
Invest 50k in index fund with an average of 4% annual return.
Live off $170 a month by gardening and scavenging without ever working. Bonus points for investing in someone's else's name and collecting welfare.
It feels fucking amazing to be an educate African American.
I am attending an Ivy League university on a partial scholarship.
I am involved in an internship this summer that pays equivalent to the average national income (BB IB).
My cock is amazing and white women gush when they meet me. I rock that preppy look and I am safe enough for all women but still have that dangerous element.
Then I look at pol and you white trash are trying to sustain yourself on minimum wage. LMAO.
This is why I live with my mother and don't work. Mcdonalds doesn't pay enough to move out and I don't want things bad enough to sell 8 hours a day for anything. I'd rather live at home, masturbate, lurk, read books on gardening and magick and get my permaculture up and running. Might do something part time with little people contact so I can buy some ducks.
You don't. If you aren't communally living with other people or your relatives then you can't live on your own and work just 40 hours. Also with schedueling methods now you likely wouldn't get 40 anyway
How do you not make it on the minimum wage in America?
I work at Dominoes Pizza in Santa Cruz. I make $10 an hour. I work full time (eight hour days on the weeks, mostly nights) and this city has some of the most expensive rent in the State.
I play $530 a month for my room, which is admittedly a good deal for this town. I pay $120 a month in car insurance and mandatory health insurance (thanks Obama) and $70 for my cell service, and I lose about 20% overall in income tax.
Each week I make about $320 after taxes, which means that monthly I'm running in the region of $1200-720 in hard expenses. Internet and Electricity vary but it's rarely more than $20 between the housemates. My remaining dosh is about $460.
That's not cheap. That's outrageously expensive. For the cost of a Double Quarter Pounder Meal you can buy a huge bag of meatballs, a can of spaghetti sauce and enough spaghetti for ten days. That isn't hyperbole, that's a fact.
If you buy vegetables, meat, and pasta, bread or cereal and prepare your own meals like a sane person, you'd have to try pretty hard to break $10/day in food expenses. When you eat fast food you're paying for convenience--but more importantly you're paying for your own laziness. Pack your own lunches, make your own food, don't eat compulsively. Food should not cost a normal person more than $10 a day.
Again, I live in the most expensive part of the country and I make barely above minimum wage. I live fine. It is almost unbelievable to me that people living elsewhere in this country CAN be poor while working unless they have kids (why!?) or cannot stop eating expensive food.
The air force in the USA requires you to actually be intelligent, what youre looking for is the marines capt hue. By the way, whats it like drinking sewage water with the aftertaste of corpse?
Look Anon bro .. i'll make it very simple for you.
You Cannot .. unless you are willing to be a little degenerate. You can make up for it by going to church, not smoking, drinking, and voting for Trump.
I would advise you to get the shitty room .. Who cares if it's small as long as you have privacy.

If you can get a job under the table like waiter, or Bar back, or something even better. . You can even get a legit part time with a company to excuse your income.
Work hard, & exercise for entertainment, work, and continue to look for opportunities of advancement.
It's simple ..
I rather an anon bro get the benefits than some Nigger
There is no extra work. Hours have a budget, its doled out based on who the boss likes that particular week. More often than not they use less than half the hours so the manager gets a bigger bonus (easier way than driving up sales, spend less.)
I do work hard. Harder than most of the people around me and it gets you nowhere. They dont want people to advance, they want nice little suck up serfs willing to do anything for that extra 2-3 hours a week so they can pay bills.
Not that kind of on call. The kind where they tell you they "might" need you tuesday, so you can't make any plans, work another job or do anything but wait on the phone and come at a moments notice. All unpaid but god help you if you are doing something and can't make it. Looks like 5 hours scheduled next week.
>"fell" for college meme
>Got a well paying job right out of college as a CS major
>75k starting, full benefits, 18 pto days a year
>Live in a small townhouse rental 8 minutes from work, pay $1300 a month
I'm pretty comfy
I honestly think that my biggest obstacle is not having friends to go in on an apartment together. Going in and renting a room from some weirdo is a risk that some people think is to much.
Yeah I'm hoping if we sell the house we can move somewhere more remote. Currently the neighbors hate our chickens. Threatened a lean on the property through the HOA. Told em to eat a bag of dicks, the whole HOA is illegal and poorly documented. I could ruin them if they tried and they know it. I dont even pay dues.
If i could make a few dollars an hour more I would be fine but 9 an hour for 27 hours a week doesn't leave much room for anything. Even with an already low standard of living. I also commute pretty far to work. Around 50 miles round trip. Roads suck.
can you post a pic of your ID so we know youre not trolling ... yeah... didn't think so
you should kill urself
agreed, or something you have a kid do so that they don't fuck up and have to work there ever again
can't you find any other way to improve things? are you too comfortable in your lifestyle?
one thing going wrong will place you in poverty -- you have no safety net
Wagecuck here. Got my Master's degree right when the recession hit. Had to compete for positions in my field with all the people who were recently laid off but had all the work experience. I ended up working 4 different part time jobs, as it was the only thing available at the time. Ended up staying in one field completely unrelated to my degree, and am now finally making it. You just have to perceiver.
There are 4 costcos, they can't employ 2.48 million people and are an outlier. 1-2 of which are in car dependent areas and are a bitch to commute to even if you could afford gas and ICBC.
Read this was a myth, something about a rumor where they pay $20/hr or something, when in fact that's just average wage that includes supervisors and managers and whatnot. In reality they start employees at around $11/hr, which, while not shit, ain't no $20/hr.
Actually, here's what I read: http://www.ogdenonpolitics.com/2015/02/costco-and-2089-hour-job-myth.html
2 full-time min wage jobs at min wage = 2320 per month.
Let's go with 1800 after taxes
20 bucks for food per week = 80 bucks per month
utilities = 30 bucks a month
rent = 500 bucks a month
muh internet = 30 bucks a month
1800 - (80+30+500+30) = 1160 left over for whatever else.
you sound like someone who has never been a manager or supervisor.
bitch nigga step up. if you can't work on a moment's notice then enjoy your minimum wage and low hours.
it's that sort of attitude that keeps niggers like you poor.
>How does a guy make it on minimum wage in America?
Marginal jobs are for marginal wages given to people who want to make a little money with marginal use of their time. With the advent of home management tools like washing machines, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, and so on, women had extra time and could use that by making additional income for the family. Young men could start working early and give them an introduction to the workplace as well as have a little money for things parents didn't want to pay.
These jobs did not exist to live off of. But since the existence of the welfare state, people no longer felt compelled to improve themselves and learn trades. They began working these jobs full time in order to make a meager living.
Our society is broken. This isn't the fault of minimum wage work.
Wealthy, not wealth. Educated, not educate.
Did they again lower standards for nigger admissions to ivy leagues? How much did you score on your SATs?
Also pretty funny that for an """educated nigger""" your instinctual response to this thread was "ayooo muh dik muhfugga". I guess you can take the nigger out of the jungle, but you can't take the jungle out of the nigger.
It's cool, we all know the true bread and butter of the American economy is military equipment. We will just find an excuse to finally take over Europe so we can build more more factories.
>It's always worked for us in the past.
Yeah because remember when all those pilots lost their jobs when they automated flight controls.
Hate to deflate your Elon Musk nerd boner but trucking is more than just driving the truck. Inspections, cargo security, and inventory control will still be needed and those aren't on the docket to be automated.
Cheaper just to hire a guy who can do it all.
>can't you find any other way to improve things? are you too comfortable in your lifestyle?
>one thing going wrong will place you in poverty -- you have no safety net
No safety net? I have financial insurance. I have a community. I have a cellar stocked with home-canned goods to last months. I have livestock. I have a gun and four dozen acres of woodland to hunt on. I barely clear $2000/month, it's true, but what am I really spending it on? I own my house. I own my land. I own my car. That makes most of my income disposable. I pay insurance, taxes, and electricity/internet bills (my property has a well on it, so my water is mine).
I could honestly not be happier.
Maybe foods more expensive in Canada. Not an issue here. Who said you should be able to live on whatever /fit/ness diet recommends when you are literally making the MINIMUM amount of money possible.
Rice, Beans and Veggies. Dirt cheap will meet your macros reasonably assuming youre not trying to bulk while living in poverty or some dumb shit.
This is only temporary of course if you cant get a raise in a few months at a minimum wage job I dont know what to say, 17 year old stoners manage to do it.
I'm not selling my labor for free. I'm not going to beg for scraps just to get more scraps. I've seen the people who do and they get nothing all the same. You sound like the same stuck up cock sucker middle management type companies love to hire. They view employees as someone to be exploited, consumed and discarded in favor of new ones. Places I've worked at go through hundreds of employees a year (and the store looks like shit), all so some middle management prick can feel slightly richer than joe schmoe. I'm not going to wait on the chance for maybe work when I can walk out the door and get another job in a day for something than definitely has daily work. Doing better now at my current job but fuck you and what you describe. Thats as close as you can get to serfdom.
parasite, die in a fire
you essentially work for the real supervisory staff to keep the trogs in line, but you're a trog yourself -- this is the fate of the lower middle class
save up enough to get training, and then move out of that dead end job
I'm guessing you live in flyover land, because your numbers are way off. You also have insurance and commuting costs (if public transportation is even available in your area), and there's a ton of little things that you need for basic housekeeping and hygiene that add up.
Yeah Bullshit man. I just started in this industry, automated trucks are a lifetime ahead trust me. Too many variables and automated cars have crashed. What makes you think the DOT is going to give the nod on this? I have all my endorsements on my cdl, and I'm well on my way to being home every night making 26 an hour out of little rock AR. Go ahead and tell me how much of an idiot I am though.
I did. I had a shitty car....a roommate and i didnt live outside my means.
I didnt get a new fucking iphone every 6 months. I didnt spend every last penny on drugs and liquor. Holy shit it is not hard. People need to quit being stupid.
Sadly people would rather be stupid then become something better.
never understood why people never had the balls to go out and find somthing else, minimum wage jobs were supposed to be for teenagers, college students, and "struggling single moms"
You shouldn't accept one for any longer than you have to once you hit your mid twenties.
Unlucky friend. I live 7 minutes from the one I work in...and that's what a coffee stop on the way.
Nah it's not a myth. An average is a dumb way to look at the wages across an entire company but, as an average, it's actually about right.
You start at $13 and get regular raises every 6-8 months or so depending on how many hours you work. You "top out" at ~$24-26/hr depending on the position. In my case I'll "top out" after about 6,800hrs of work...or a bit short of 4 years in the company. That's why the "average" is about ~$20. Lots of people are earning the top and lots earn the lower wage because they just got hired etc.
I'm not worrying if people think it's a myth. Have a good wage, pension and good health benefits too.
i doubt you'll find many who have worked at a mcdonalds in brazil for what is certain to be shit wages
>doesn't understand that a living wage for adults hasn't been seen since the late 70s
oh you poor poor anon
oh shit i just realized how cheap milk is now, GOMAD isn't just a meme anymore. advertized at $2.55/gal at walmart for any type you want. you can, well, GOMAD with whole milk and actually live from a caloric perspective.
You say flyover land like it's a bad thing. Major cities are for wealthy people and dirt poor people. If you can't afford to live in a major city that's nobody elses problem but yours. Buy a $40 bus/train ticket somewhere else. You're living off minimum wage. How great can your life be that you're afraid to leave it behind?
this is true.
this is the kind of guy who doesn't get what 'minimum wage' really is.
he thinks minimum wage is a minimum living wage.
he should have worked a little harder to climb up the ladder. instead he believes the government's lies, and is still poor.
Oldfag here. When i was 16, McDonalds and all other fast food joints were jobs for teenagers. The only people over 21 were middle management and upper management. You kids today would rather chase a fucking fictitious video game pixel on your phome and fag up this board with your "waaaaa booomers took mer jerbs". Learn a fucking trade like plumbing or be an electrician. Everyone needs power and everyone needs to pipe the shit out their house.
this is so fucking bullshit. I live in a big enough city and it's impossible to find anything with a connection.
Also bullshit, you could be amazing at the job but if the company is full of jews you can't do anything about it. I worked for a company that payed like 11.50/h and was there for a full year, was told I was the best part time employee as well as employee of the month and didn't make a single cent more for a year and a half.
I say it because your numbers are way off, not because I'm making minimum wage. I'm probably right in assuming you live in flyover land and are still an dependent. Your "solution" to a hypothetical situation of already living in a big city on minimum wage is neither practical nor sincere. You literally don't know what you're talking about.
Ive made so much in other jobs I cant even get hired for minimum wage jobs and my qualifications make me a threat to management.
>Retail manager tells me how to he wants products placed
>products don't sell so I moved
>he tells me not to do that
>do it anyway, and the product thats been sitting for months sells out in a weekend.
>get fired for insubordination
The product was ping-pong balls and I moved them from the toy sections over near the red plastic cups.
So move. Your life is shit. You have no job prospects. Go somewhere that isn't flooded with a bunch of people with the same degree. Shoulda looked into the job market before you spent a fortune on your degree. Too busy getting drunk and partying to plan for your future and now that's other peoples problems?
