I never used to have much of an opinion on Poland. I knew two guys, one was Polish but lived in Germany his entire live, the other one was half German, half Polish. I liked them, so that gave me generally a positive association with Poland.
During the whole so called 'refugee crisis' my entire impression of Poland changed drastically. Their reaction showed me what our population would probably be like without constant brainwashing by politicians and the media, and now I see Poland almost as a painful reminder of what could have been for my own people.

Says that unlike Ukraine, Poland kicked all the corrupt Russian officials out of government early on, formed their own true Polish government and that's why they've had so much more success and have been able to move into the EU faster than Ukraine.
And that meanwhile, Belarus is even more backwards than Ukraine, being even more pro-Russian, and they will probably never amount to anything other than something for Putin to step on.
Not sure if any of that is true. I have not researched Poland's political history.
I do think that these Eastern Euro nations are important allies and America should continue to support them, through NATO if nothing else. I live in an area with lots of immigrants -- lots of Russians, Ukrainians and Bulgarians for whatever reason -- and you'll not find another group of immigrants that's more pro-America than they are.
Apparently living under the heel of Russian oppression does that.
The old allies just take things for granted and slack off and assume America will always be there to do things for them when they need it.
