Why are millennials moving into tiny houses?
>>
>>81360787
Tiny house is just a euphemism for the longtime practice of living in a trailer. Which is not bad in itself, but a sign of the times. Truthfully the middle class suburban lifestyle is very wasteful, financially and otherwise, and you can't fault people for wanting to channel their incomes into a better work/life balance rather than the traditional big house and several cars.

However, I think it also shows how poor this generation is, that so many of us are moving into trailers.

If it had a permanent foundation with plumbing electric and central heating/cooling that is all you need.

>Why are millennials moving into tiny houses?

Because it is a sad statement on our economy that we are relegated to living in small hovels.

Good on millennials to turn it into some kind of zen/hipster positive thing. But ultimately if they could afford 10 acres of land and a big house of course they would want that instead.

>>
>hating on trailers

Trailers are actually decent depending on the state you live in. The truth about tiny houses is that young faggots want to live in big cities because they perceive it as "cool", the homes there are too expensive so they get a tiny home when they could just move to the country and buy a house with land for 70k.

Jews raise the pricing of house to retarted levels. Also, people need to live close to civilization and not rural tundras with nothing but mountains at a 360 degree view.

Theyre also cheaper to live on than $450k houses where tiny homes are at average $19k if you build it yourself.

The other problem is that homes in cities cost so much but they never go on sale because some old baby boomer fag lives in it and still hasnt kicked the bucket.
>>
>>81361944
where do you cook? Where do you study and do paperwork? Shit house desu
>>
>>81367068
They won't let them crash.

1. Property tax revenues are too important.
2. The wealthy have a lot of their paper wealth tied up in property values.
3. When people become underwater on mortgage contracts, they default, which hurts banks.
>>
Mostly because the economy is shit. Partially for the desire to live in ealkable cities.

how do you raise a kid in a "tiny house?"
>>
I'm looking into building one with my girlfriend in the future. I want to plop it down on a plot of land in a good area. I think its a good move once you're old enough to not care about living in the city anymore. People this day an age love to spend money they dont have. It's a good move to buy something outright, why throw money down the drain in an apartment? If you're still renting at 30+ you're incompetent and will never make it. Additionally, sacrificing your hard earned paycheck into a house you cannot afford leads to an awful work:life balance. People are just addicted to keepin up with the joneses without thinking long term. Then there are the people who buy shitty houses in an area they hate just so they have a house. Now they have a long, shitty commute and a long, shitty mortgage. Tiny houses really provide a happy medium in terms of aesthetics and price. You can afford to put the flooring that you want, the siding that you want, etc. Not only that but its easily built. Everyone has built a shed with their pops. If you can do that you can build a tiny house.

I own three tiny homes, all in different cities (Louisville, Madison, and Omaha). As a software engineer, the bulk of my work can be done remotely anywhere. Staff meetings are all done through Skype these days, and I only have to meet in-person at corporate about four times a year. As such, I like to travel. I've found that owning a tiny home is a great way to achieve this desire. Each of my homes acts as sort of a base for the surrounding area. I can visit the midwest, south, and parts of the rocky mountains. I work 10-hour days, so have a three day weekend every week to travel.

Each of my homes cost me between $50,000 and $60,000. I've already paid off two of the homes (programming pays quite well), and will have the third payed off by the day I turn 30. I can see why a lot of millennials like the tiny home lifestyle. I know a lot of co-workers who live in run-of-the-mill suburbs and hate it. Their houses are huge and great - but at what cost? There's little to no privacy in the suburbs. All three of my tiny homes are located in more rural areas, all near lakes and forests. It's incredibly comforting to know that I can kayak down a river and see the sunset on any given day.

Make no mistake here, I'm not doing this for any sort of hipster cred. I'm just trying to get the most out of my body while I'm young. I hike, boat, fish, or bike after work almost every evening. And on the same token, I can come back to my tiny home at night, lay down and shitpost on 4chan. It's really the best of both worlds.

Pic related, the home I'm currently at.

>>81360787

I watch these shows all the time. I have no clue how they do it. My house is 2,000 sq ft and I think it's way too small. I only bought it because it was a deal, innawoods, and has tons of land.

We've been here a year and, based on comps, the markets already added between $20-25k in equity. There isn't a day I don't think about cashing in and getting something bigger. The only reason I don't is because I've put way too much sweat equity into turning the yard from a jungle to something respectable. Plus my garden is kickass.

This is so bullshit.

Rich people (excluding noveau rich and yuppies) don't flaunt their wealth, but don't for a fucking second believe a pair of pants are cheap just because the average plebeian can't tell the fucking difference.
Growing up as a rich kid, I couldn't tell we were rich until we left inner Stockholm. Even then, I always wondered why in movies rich people would wear bling but mom and dad wore basics.
Turns out all their clothes are indeed basic shit like that pic but cost thousands. John Smedley, Saint Laurent that was the staple in their clothing. And don't even get me started on suits and shit.

I thought they were wearing H&M but I just couldn't tell the difference.

Why do I need a giant 2000 sqft McMansion in the middle of a suburb 1 hour away from my job? I live by myself, never plan on having a family, and think that my current 500 sqft apartment is already too large. When I retire, I will move to the countryside, but even with a bunch of land available, I'm not going to build a McMansion just so I can spend more money on heating every winter.

>Why are millennials moving into tiny houses?

Because populations are soaring like fuck and land is becoming sparse. I live in Montgomery County Maryland. in a low tier townhouse under parents, it's worth $290,000 and is expecting to shoot up to $500,000 eventually now that the ICC has been finalized and more land is being taken up by tech companies. When my parents bought it in 1981, it was worth $40,000. Family has been in Maryland forever, with one of my sides dating back to the 1600's from England. I'm part English, German, Irish, and Swedish.
>>
>>81361860
No they wouldn't because then they would have to live off the countryside instead of their multiculti mass pleasure dome cityscapes.
>>
>>81361160
Yep.

Trailer fag here. 32 ft travel trailer. Paid $6,000 for it and own it out right, pay only $300/month for the lot rent which includes all utilities.

Tbf though, I originally bought it because I was working in the oilfields in West Texas and because of the oil boom, shithole apartments were charging sky high rent. A trailer was the only logical choice to really maximize savings.

After the price of oil crashed, I now work as a sailor mainly out of Hawaii and California, but keep my trailor in West Texas as a base of operation so to speak for my time off the ship because the lot rent is so cheap. Im not ready to pack my shit up and move to another apartment in California or Hawaii when rent is so fucking outrageous there. I spend most of my time off traveling anyways and my trailer basically just serves as a cheap video game den for when Im back in the US.

I lived in multiple shithole studio apartments in Chicago, New Orleans and Miami prior to my trailer, and I'd take my trailer any day of those hellhole, overpriced apartments with awful poverty furniture that I was forced to scrap together.

There's a bit of a difference between 186 sqft and 500 sqft, Anon.
The first will be filled up by just having the most basic things in it, i.e. your bed, a desk, a wardrobe, some small kitchen and a shower/shitter. There is not really any place left for something you don't absolutely need but would still like to have.

With 500 sqft you can use more than half of that for whatever you feel like.

(I know because I lived on ~180 sqft for years, and it is shit).

"tiny houses" is a fascinating way to say "trailer park".

I read this shit along with the "Eating insects is the FUTURE" article horseshit is the wealthy elite making moves to ensure the middle class is moved to trailers and eating insects so they can acquire the rest of the world's wealth.

Yep, this is NWO shit designed to undermine the human race at large and make sure we get used to eating and living in shit.

Renting is far more financially smart than paying for a mortgage + interest. You can also move whenever you want, not worry about paying insurance on the house, not worry about keeping the yard nice, etc.

You need a TWIC Card, a Merchant Mariner Credential and an STCW endorsement (basically a glorified sticker they put inside your Merchant Mariner Credential), along with a US Passport. Then you need to join a sailors Union, of which there are two... SIU and SUP. Unless you work in the Gulf of Mexico out of Louisiana or something, then youll be working for a company directly, and you wont need a US passport either.

Its not particularly difficult to become a sailor, just takes a lot of time and you need to have some cash ready and on hand for your documents and endorsement classes and stuff.
