Would a caste based society be so bad? In it babies born would be assigned a career for life from the government and they would be educated from childhood to adulthood on how to perform said career effectively. They would always keep their job no matter what, but if they didn't meet their quota of work for a day their pay gets deducted by the percentage they missed their goal.
This might seem weird but think about it, there would be no jobless people and everyone who has a job would be born and raised experts at it.

The fundamental assumption of having a caste system is that whoever is arguing for it it clearly wants to be a member of the upper caste (because no one would want to be an untouchable) , and they argue for the caste system or any other form of formal , state mandated aristocracy because in real life they are weak, cuckish, and have no achievements in life to claim so they want to use

Sure it could work. The lower classes would be the laborers and would have education suited to practical stuff necessary for their work. The upper classes would be taught about culture and leading and would be more emotionally healthy creatures.
As automation improves, the lower class would shrink. But it would take a strong social force that once you're born into a class, you must stay in it for the entirety of your life. Otherwise, all hell would break loose.
The lower classes would need to know they are less superior and need to be happy to be subservient. Class should thus be decided by a physical attribute correlating with prowess.For men it could be height or penis size. For women it could be the caste they are born into, aka their father's height or penis size.

No. We should strive to give everyone the chance to do what they are best at. In a caste system, you randomly assign people to a caste and determine their life before you even know what that persons strenghts and weaknesses are. It would be retarded. This way you would prevent tons of people from reaching their potential and thus inhibit the progress of makind/the society.
For example, someone who would become a brilliant researcher or great politician but was born into the slave/baker/woodcutter caste could never achieve the same as when he had been born into a casteless system.

Read Starship Troopers in high school. Immediately thought tying citizenship to civil service was the best thing possible for any government, and the government espoused by Heinlein was a hundred times better than anything on Earth.
