I live in the UK at the moment and the "multiculturalism" they have here is very different. We have a different type of society trying to live out cultural and ethical parallels to the country's own which is often, or should be against the law. Apparently your scale of reference is the city level.
Cities concentrate ressources and key facilities in every domain.
They concentrate wealth and jobs, and for this reason attract rich people and immigrants for the low paying jobs (cleaning, manufacture, bins etc) that the city requires. SJWs are rich kids who have known no trouble or competition with immigrants for low paying jobs.
At the neighborhood scale it becomes apparent that liberal youth do not rub shoulders with immigrants. The whites that do rub shoulders with them turn out conservative and anti-immigration, as in the East End of London.
Paris however has been completely purged of any concentrated area of working class whites.

Since I actually observe my surroundings, I saw that not all groups were particularly tolerant of outsiders, but in general everything went smoothly. Once PC culture ramped up everything changed.
