What went wrong with the coup?

>failed to disconnect internet
>failed to take over complete control of broadcast media (TV/Radio)
>>
>>81295564
It was conducted by a tiny group of soldiers ( most of whom apparently didnt know it was a coup) with no support and they failed to kill erdogan
>>
>>81295564
Failed to persuade more than a handful of colonels.
>>
They started all of it too early.
Friday Night? ~2300? Everybody will still be up.

It all was over at the point where Erdogan managed to get in contact with all of his supporters and they went to the streets.

Now the soldiers had the option to mow them all down (which would have ruined their reputation right from the start) or surrender.

They kinda did the later for the most part.
>>
Failed to have the will of the people behind them.

Face it, Turkey is beyond saving.
>>
>>81295564
They didn't kill him. The first fucking thing they should've done was to take down Erdogan.
>>
>>81295564
False flag.
He can get absolute power after this shit nobody does a fucking coup with 2000 people
>>
Holy hell even wikipedia is reporting it might have been staged by Erdogan himself
>>
>>81295564
They didn't really have the legitimacy to topple the government. It's not like Turkey was like Egypt in chaos, there was no popular support. I suspect even the people who dislike Erdogan would take him over martial law.

But the people who went through with this are going to be charged with treason. How could the conspirators be working with the sultan?

>what went wrong ?
Nothing, it was never supposed to win.

Erdogan staged it by forcing a small group in the military to do a coup. But that small group had no support because the coup wasn't organized at all, it's like they decided to rebel on the spot without prior planning.

Yeah, you can't just Tank/Marine rush with one Base at 23:00 against Roach Zerg.

disinformation

the officers in charge of the coup thought they were backed by some external power, most likely russia

this was a setup to lure out rebellious elements in the military and by this strengthening erdogans position

this is all a deal between putin and erdogan where erdogan is promised to stay in power under the condition that he doesn't cause trouble for putin, and by doing this weakening US and EU influence over the region

this entire event is a reaction to the wave of refugees caused by the syrian civil war and russias more aggressive stance on foreign politics
