Look at the cars. Look at the size of the houses compared to them. Those houses are gigantic. Most of them are three stories tall and have finished basements. And big garages and swimming pools. They have 10 to 20 rooms each. You can get lost in the biggest of these houses, especially if you're a teenage couple trying to get away from your parents.
Lots of people can live in these houses. They are apartment buildings all to themselves in many ways. And the families that live in them cross over between each others "compounds" very often (or sometimes almost never, some houses are islands to themselves). House parties are a common thing in the summer.
Put all of this against the backdrop of the city portion of Las Vegas a few miles away. And the poorly managed school system. And everyone's parents work in show business and gambling in one way or another.
American Suburb culture is a funny thing without a whole lot of references for comparison in other parts of the world.

It's absolute hell, I lived in an area like that for a couple years and wanted to kill myself every day. I currently live on an island in the middle of Lake Michigan, isolated, tiny population, only eat to get there is ferry or plane. Nobody's house is closer than 20 feet to another, and some are miles apart. No McDonald's, no fast food at all, not even a traffic light, life is good, 90 percent of the time it's like the rest of the country doesn't even exist. Everyone is self sufficient as fuck. If the rest of the world ended tomorrow, they wouldn't skip a beat. It's literally the perfect place to live as a /pol/ack
