Not OP but my plans for the Navy aren't panning out because there are no fucking jobs available because of budget cuts. I will likely join the army. I'm colorblind so my jobs are limited but I am looking to get the MOS 68w, or medic. Any opinions on this job and the Army in general? That's what I was thinking/people keep telling me, I just didn't know if it was justifiable to wait when a "good" Army job is right around the corner, but then again I don't know if it's actually an improvement or if it's even available at all due to their budget cuts.
For all the fucking money the US spends on the military you would think everyone would have plentiful employment, but nobody at MEPS was satisfied. I might be colorblind but I still have 20 rates available, all I got offered was fucking cook (and my ASVAB scores qualify me for much more).

I couldn't really tell you all my line scores exactly but my accumulative was 80, and I know there was a lot of emphasis on mechanical/engineering and writing or something like that. In the Navy I qualified for a lot of engineering/construction jobs, seabees, MM, EN, and the like, as well as some crypto jobs and HM (corpsman/doctor). Not sure how that translates to the army though, but I'm fairly sure 68W is one of the ones I qualify for. The rest are a lot of motor pool stuff, not sure I'm interested.
