Britain will not trigger Article 50 to start the process of leaving the European Union until Scotland’s position in negotiations is clear, Theresa May has signaled. Though the UK voted to leave the European Union by 52 per cent to 48 per cent, Scotland, along with Northern Ireland and London, overwhelmingly voted to stay. Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said she will seek to ensure Scotland remains in the EU; she has not ruled out a second independence referendum.

Yes she has . . .stop talking bullshit.

And she never was in a hurry to trigger 50 Particles, this is no secret, she is playing politics and appeasement with the miserable haggis munchers.

Nice try Germany but we are leaving - like it or not.

That's irrelevant. By that logic every US state that votes for the Republican presidential candidate should have them as their president, and every state that votes Democrat should have the Democrat as their president.

It makes not one lick of difference where the votes were concentrated. The COUNTRY voted, and the COUNTRY voted to leave. Scotland is part of the UK - just a year or so ago they decided to be part of the UK, did they not? Even if they hadn't done so they'd be in the wrong; the fact that they did is a knockout punch to any whining about not wanting to accept the referendum.

This analogy doesn't quite work because the UK is 4 separate countries.

Not the same as different contituency/states voting one way.

His analogy works perfectly.

It was the UK that voted and the UK voted to leave.

USA is exactly that, it's lots of micro countries who often have their own laws but are overseen by a Federal department . . . .not entirely dissimilar to the UK.

How much autonomy do constituent countries in the UK have?

States here have their own laws and Constitutions, but are superceded by feds on issues regarding interstate commerce or foreign affairs.

My solution to this problem:

1 - Population exchange between Scotland and Northern Ireland.

a) send people who identify as Irish to Northern Ireland
b) bring Ulster Scots back to Scotland

2 - Make a new referendum in Scotland and a new referendum in Northern Ireland.

3 - Reenact the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

4 - Replace the home nation of Northern Ireland with something (Cornwall home assembly, for example).

Said nothing about delaying article 50.
She said that the uk needs a nationwide plan for brexit.
David davies said that the un will trigger article 50 before feburary 2017

States are sovereign you cunt.

in the British context it is different

Yeah it is different, the countries in the United Kingdom were delegated their power from the government of the United Kingdom. While the states were not delegated power, they delegated certain powers to the United States, and they reserved all powers not delegated to the U.S., see the 10th amendment.

I know, but GB is a special case, they also have 4 teams playing in international tournaments like e.g. an English. Welsh etc. football team whereas the USA only has the US national team.

Scotland didn't get a separate Brexit vote then, why are they giving them preferential treatment now?

(other than the obvious stalling tactic while hoping for something, anything to happen that will make abandoning the Article 50 vote politically viable)
