>What really sets off the haters is when women do things that men have traditionally done: Firefighter, sportswriter, Army Ranger, video game designer, commander-in-chief.
What men hate is when women claim to be able to do these things when they're incapable of or unwilling to do them. People respect action, not empty words and outright lies. It's like some random slob bragging about how he can climb Mount Everest or win an Olympic gold medal, without actually trying to do it.
And this is why it's so grating to have these idiotic feminist movies where women do things they could never actually do in real life, for the sake of diversity. It's taking credit for something they're not doing, then claiming that's an accurate depiction of reality.
>Firefighter
There are virtually no female firefighters, because they lack both the willingness to become firefighters and the physical strength to become one. Female firefighters generally make up between 1-5% of firefighters in western countries, with the average being roughly 3.5%.
>sportswriter
People don't care about their gender as long as they're competent. People get pissed if women are given the job because of their gender, because they're supposed to fill some kind of gender quota.
>Army Ranger
No woman has managed to pass the requirements for the special forces in any western country, while hundreds of thousands of men have.
>video game designer
Once again something women love to claim to be, yet they never produce anything but extremely casual games with SJW themes. The few competent female game devs do their job, get treated like one of the guys and don't whine about imaginary misogyny.
>commander-in-chief
There has never been a female President, and we're not going to get one anytime soon. Conservative men virtually never criticize female leaders in other western countries either, and are just as willing to vote for them as a man, as long as they represent their views.
Vote with your wallet. Nothing else matters.
Caught a TV spot for ghostbusters, I don't think it even showed anything from the movie
>>81093247
We hate this movie because they changed the characters to something they are not supposed to be it's like remaking Terminator and replacing with Arnie a midget and the turning around calling anyone who doesn't like the movie a bunch of midget haters.
Changing the characters to women does cause a problem but it's not because we hate women it's because they CHANGED THE CHARACTERS and they did it for the sake of political correctness.
If we really hated women why on Earth would go and watch other movies about women. Eg Alien was one of the best movies with a lead women role and Ripley was a great character and no it wasn't anything to do with her looks believe me Sigourney Weaver was not attractive.
I'm so sick of political correctness ruining everything it's just getting stupid now.
Yet no critics point out that the film is blatantly sexist towards men.
>>81096921
Women can't be sexist you see because women can do and say anything they want and get away with it because reasons.
Soooo many double standards.
>>81096829
They really should have gone with a mixed sex team and then treated them all as 'people doing a job' if they wanted to make it more diverse. That's exactly what the tie-in game did, and even though the game itself is crap and the dialogue is riddled with shit like 'making herstory' and 'just like our foremothers' the team feels much more natural than the new film's.
>>81097488
>They really should have gone with a mixed sex team and then treated them all as 'people doing a job' if they wanted to make it more diverse
You see that's the thing 1st off they don't want diversity they want it all their way.
2ndly there should be a need to force any changes on movies for the sake of political correctness.
If they wanna make there own movies with all women no worries and others wanna make movies with all men no worries but we should never force people into changing a movies original plot for political correctness.
It's good to see more people wising up to all the nonsense that's been going on.
I'm sick of the SJW's trying to show PC crap down are throats on everything.

There is a reason remakes receive criticism like this: Nobody rekmakes a shit movie, remakes only exist for movies where the original was good.
Almost every remake is worse that the original because what led to it being remade is the fact it was so good in the first place, in a bid to pocket more shekels. Nobody is going to remake a ovie that was originally a flop
>>81098743
Mate. I'm telling you, from first hand experience, they can't cope. For one simple reason. There will come a time when a man (100kg+ in gear) will need to be dragged or carried by their mates in combat.
A female cannot do that. If you think that a female can have the strength to lift someone that size, and also have the cardiovascular ability to keep up as well, you are deluded.

I wouldn't say she was unattractive, but she wasn't cast for her looks, and the movie certainly didn't try to linger on them. She just looks... normal. There's no obvious agenda behind casting Weaver, except for casting the best person for the role. And that's exactly the way it should be.

Funny how many well written female characters there were between the late 70s and the early 90s, and none of them felt like they were forced or idealized. Are they insane? There are TONS upon TONS upon TONS of movies with women that do all that stuff. Snipers, firefighters, cops, all female have been done so many times the "tough female" role is a cliché. No one has a problem with those movies.
And games. So many games feature female main characters that slash their way through waves of enemies as well as their male counterparts.
What people HATE is a movie that is badly written with poor acting. The jokes are bland, the characters dull and the type of jokes these women spout out just confirms every stereotype there is about female comedians - they can't make a joke without "lolol tits and dicks xDDDD". And when it isn't about that the delivery is shit.

The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the "agentur" of the "Illuminati" between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion…We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time.

>>81104652
Weaver was a perfect fit, as she felt natural in the role. That said, she's not a bad actress and actually looks and sounds like a woman who would be in the positions she fills. Space jockey or scientist, she feels like she got her job on her own merits rather than off quotas or fucking her bosses.
Now, I'm admittedly biased, as the first two Alien(s) films are probably my favorite movies, but they're the perfect example of how to have a believable female lead in dangerous situations in terms of writing, casting and acting. Vasquez was another great example of a strong female character, this time for a female Marine/special forces operator and is fairly accurate depiction of what it takes for a woman to be able to preform a combat role.
Oh, and the Aliens were totally fuckable, but that's beside the point.
>>81093699
nah but lets be honest there was a real twisted undertone to the casting of this movie. they were literally asking for the reaction they got

What is the definition of a "good" movie?
The original Ghostbusters was a fun summer popcorn flick. The cast was likable. The music had just enough of a memetic hook that it embedded in people's minds and has stayed there. I dare say most people wouldn't even remember anything about the original movies besides Stay-Puft Marshmellow Man and the DUDUDUDUDUDU (GHOST BUSTERS) theme.
Then it had a rushed sequel that left a bad taste in people's mouths because it just wasn't as fun the second time around--the flaws stood out worse and the writing was more tailored to a child market to merchandise more toys.
SJWBusters was just some C-rate hacks digging around the hollywood graveyard trying to cash in on nostalgia. They found Harold Ramis' gravestone and thought it'd be really fun to take a piss on his ghost.
>>81109242
Yeah, executives have pushed too far with their design-by-committee bullshit. They know what makes money, but they don't know what makes a good movie.
I watched Once Upon a Time in the West the other day. It's a great movie. It's also a popular movie. Something like that wouldn't be made today, and that's an eternall loss. And even if it were made, it would only be billed as a pretentious indie movie.
I hope the marketing bubble bursts. I hope the moneygrubbing executives lose their fortune at some point.
>>81113098
Vasquez was cool. She had personality. The Marines fucking with each other felt natural, because they acknowledged they were women, Hispanic, or Ohio yokels. They were well-written, well-played characters with loads of charisma. And that's anathema to writing a character as a walking, talking propaganda point.

>>81103595
It's funny almost, that everyone turns to those four movies.
They're movies that are great because of their female leads, not despite them. Perhaps movies and writers were just out to make good characters and good films in that time period.
If someone could capture even a fraction of the magic of any of those movies again, that film would be a masterpiece of our time.
Also, it's time to post this picture again.
This is Kenau Simonsdochter Hasselaer. She was a citizen of Haarlem while it was under siege by the Spanish during the 80 Year War. She was already reasonably wealthy, and a well known person in the city's business. It's almost certain she aided with defense of the city, providing material and maybe even taking potshots from the walls.
However, the story of the woman warrior of Haarlem did the rounds, and people found it to be inspiring. The tale soared, and soon she was told to be a fierce fighter, leading a regiment of women warriors outside the walls of the city. To this day, most depictions of her show her carrying no less than three weapons. Her name became synonymous with "strongwilled woman", often taken to mean "bitch" in modern times.
And these Tumblr-posting, leftist-voting communist cunts will have you actually believe that the society that produced this propaganda four centuries ago actually has something against women in "traditionally masculine" roles.

Riply from alien
Sarah Conor from T2
Uma Thurman in Kill Bill

There's women who can play strong female leads, and there are women who can't, like the new Ghostbusters. Feminists are uniquely girly girls and nu-males however and don't like any of those films.

Everyone had a personality you could feel in Aliens, even the emotionless Synthetic.
There was a certain chemistry of the cast that made them feel natural, like it was just a squad of Marines with sci-fi painted over them.
God I wish we had films like it today, with characters that feel like people and not just cogs to fill out a quota and fit a preset narrative. Movies where the characters actually drive it with their personalities and decisions.
While the setting and story are important, as is execution, I will argue that what makes a book or film truly memorable and great are the characters.
Ghostbusters isn't so much about the ghosts as it is the cast and their chemistry. Star Wars may be normie shit, but it was memorable and the characters carried the films past their weaknesses. Terminator had the action, but Arniebot and Conner are what made it.
Dear God, why can't we have /characters/ and not quota fillers and mouth peices?

I feel you. I love science fiction and action, and I've seen the genre be completely subsumed by paint-by-the-numbers superhero movies. I fucking hate how popular they are. I watched a few -never in theatres- and it's all crap. Sure, it might be slightly entertaining. Good for a B-movie night. But I'm finding B-movies from the 80's have better plots, better characters, better everything than AAA movies of today. For fuck's sake, a crappy film called Cherry 3000 is more imaginative than modern day blockbusters, and it's legit about a guy trying to find a new sexbot after he shorts his old one out. Or schlocky stuff like RoboJox, which was written by sci-fi legend Joe Haldeman, and provided the inspiration for Pacific Rim.
There are still good films, of course. But if you look at the 80's, you see multiple classics released in one year, without even looking at the B-movies.
I've been rewatching Star Trek. I'm a big fan. And it's amazing how well it held up. Both entertaining and relevant. Hell, I'm beginning to see parallels between Worf and second generation immigrants that I just didn't see when I first watched it. Believe me, it's fucking infuriating to see the show I love be reduced to a crappy reboot where stereotypes of its characters shout at each other, and still somehow manages to be less diverse and tolerant than a show FROM THE FUCKING 60's, despite gonig whole hog with the identity politics by making a straight (and furry) character gay, because the actor who played him happens to be a prolific gay rights activist. I mean, that's offensive, right? Insisting that an actor transfers some sort of magical gay-radiation to the character he's playing?
Shit, I mad.

What's it you guys can't understand about capitalism and free speech?
Free speech says it's okay for stupid people to ask stupid things that they want to buy/pay for. Capitalism says it's okay for producers to listen to these people when making their product.
Are you angry because, right now, capitalism is making things you dislike being popular?
(Btw true art is gone, movies are not art, they are PRODUCTS, if you don't like it, don't buy it and that's the extent of your power over it)

You want more female driven stories in movies? Be my guest! COME UP WITH A NEW FRANCHISE, STOP INJECTING POINTLESS DIVERSITY INTO OLD ONES. There was NO reason to make this movie except to try and capitalize on nostalgia and girl power. I dislike that it has an all women cast. Not because the cast is all women, because whoever made the movie is pushing an all women cast for some other reason than he happened to cast all women. It might be acceptable if he simply wanted to see what the dynamics would be like if the original movie was played by 4 women. The original was very male-centric, though, and I think that threatened sjws, and that is likely why they made the movie. Equality isn't equality when it is forced. Theres no such thing as equality justice.

People don't realize /pol/ is mad about /everything/ being ruined. That every single aspect of our lives is degrading and becoming flooded with propaganda and shit as we're told that it's better than the original.
It's everywhere, from the quality of art and film, to the quality of foods we're given. Everything is getting worse in quality as it becomes crisper in detail so we can watch our world rot in 4k HD.
People are becoming less human as society makes us into consuming machines. Ideas and opinions are just a commodity to be bought and sold.
And in the end, I just want to watch a good sci-fi flick about interesting people punching robot alien eldritch horrors or something. I think that's what we all want, to just enjoy our lives without having to root through propaganda or worrying about our safety. As they say "Nec vi, Nec clam, Nec Precario."

>What really sets off the haters is when women do things that men have traditionally done: Firefighter, sportswriter, Army Ranger, video game designer, commander-in-chief.
Because most of the time this shit just feels forced and comes across as unbelievable. A female in a role like this can work, and there are many good examples in fiction where this has been the case, but when the whole gimmick of your movie is "LOL THEY ARE WOMEN" you obviously have a problem.
>Even a made-up occupation — Ghostbuster — is apparently off limits to women.
Clearly, the ghostbuster is inspired by the aforementioned firefighter.
"Real life" ghostbusters are dorks who walk around buildings at night with a zillion cameras and come back empty-handed 100% of the time.
These ghostbusters literally work in a fire station, they go out on action-packed calls with their modified ghostbusting vehicle (firetruck) and aim their proton packs (fire hose) at threatening ghosts (fire).
But what's the point even arguing about this shit. This is supposed to be a comedy. Good comedy is very hard to do, but don't go blaming the audience if they didn't like your shit. You have to do better next time (or quit churning out this shit, which would be my advice).
>>81093247
What they fail to realize is that nobody complains about competent female actors playing roles that actually fit.
There is no role more traditionally masculine than alien-killing space badass, and yet nobody complained about Ripley, or Vasquez for that matter who might actually be the most popular character from that movie among diehard fans.
Turns out that happens when you write characters and cast actors on the basis of them being the best fit for the story, rather than doing it because you have to fill your vagina quota.

The thing is, Sony almost assuredly *did* pay off some people to get the whole "if you don't like our crappy Ghostbusters cash-grab then you hate women" propaganda train rolling but once it started you had feminists spouting their corporate selling points *for free*.
This is 21st Century marketing. We're past such archaic notions as advertising the good qualities of a product to entice you to purchase. No, now they're telling you the *bad* qualities of people who don't like the product and you don't want to be a bad person now do you?
Most of the consumer population will eat this shit up. For virtue-signalers they have no immune system capable of resisting this corporate strategy, its like an AIDS-Ebola meme aimed right between their eyes.
I love the irony of watching far left anti-capitalist hipsters posting how they're going to "buy multiple copies (tickets) of a corporate product just to counteract the haters". Insanity.

You have to appreciate the irony in the genre that predicted this crap being repackaged and rebranded to serve it.
It's this leftist concept of the Permanent Revolution. They have to bring their ideology into everything. I see it with left wing friends, too. It's just the leftist way to interpret everything according to their ideology, no matter how small. A movie can't be good without being feminist, a book can't be proper without being anti-racist, etc. etc.
And they accuse us of acting like that, for wanting to be liberated -even for a moment- of their bullshit. I wonder if they'll ever manage to stop distribution of old stuff, on political grounds.
