Blacks are absurdly, overwhelmingly overrepresented in popular culture, and blacks kill/assault/rape white people at a far, FAR, FAR higher rate than white people kill/assault/rape blacks.
So White Lives Matter shouldn't be offensive to him.

He's right and wrong.
He's right in his analysis of why people say "Black lives matter." It's stupid to counter that with, "Yeah but all lives matter," because that fundamentally misunderstands the point. People say "Black lives matter," because they feel that black lives are currently the ones that are being most frequently disregarded or discounted as being important. So if that's their point of contention, it's perfectly reasonable for them to use their mantra.
However, that doesn't mean that there's no reason to oppose the "Black lives matter," stance. That statement is based on the assumption that we need to be reminded that black peoples' lives matter, and that there is some widespread societal issue with people thinking that black people don't have a right to live. This is not the case.
The police shootings that BLM advocates take issue with are largely justified. There have been a couple of exceptions where the officer acted wrongly, but in virtually all of those instances, the officers have been reprimanded; some were fired, others were jailed. In the majority of police shootings of black people, the "victim" posed an immediate threat to the officer's life, and thus the shooting was justified.
Saying "Black lives matter," is stupid not because it assumes that ONLY black lives matter, but because it assumes that the majority of society believes that black lives do not matter. There's no evidence corroborating that theory.
