I don't honestly think their plan was to kill off every single Jew - their initial plan was to just kick them out of Germany and then German occupied territories.
They discussed moving them to Palestine too, but I think as the war progressed and the further Hitler lost touch with reality (you could tell just by his military actions/tactics towards the end that he wasn't the same guy as the start) he made bad decisions - was obviously influenced by other high-ranking officials - to kill off as many as they could that were already in their camps (some labour, some not).
Many did die from illnesses and the terrible diseases - but there were extermination camps eventually (again, not just for Jews) but it's debatable as to why.
Some say to get rid of the Jewish problem, others as to get rid of evidence.
You do realize many Germans were also put into camps after the war and that many were executed for no absolute reason too - I'd also call that systematic killings to be honest.
