Rasmussen polls almost always favor Republicans relative to other polls, because Rasmussen designs their polls to try to predict the election rather than to reflect general public opinion. Voter participation was only about 62% in 2008 and 58% in 2012. Republicans and Conservatives are more likely to vote than the general population, so polls of the general population tend to be biased in favor of Democrats compared to actual election results. Rasmussen tends to deviate from other polls, but to get closer to the election's final results.

Side note: That 4% drop-off in 2012 should tell you something about how unpopular Romney really was.
>>
>>80962171
As long as Trump continues to talk about the Emails, Comey, and Lynch... He has a very good chance of winning this.

The last two weeks, liberals have been gloating over polls that show Slithery slightly ahead of Trump. The same liberal media said any Trump supporters unphased were "data deniers."

This week Slithery is beginning to slip below the margin of error and Trump is gaining in some polls, beating her in others. I'm sure the same liberal media from last week will tell us how these polls are just an anomaly and will proceed to deny the data.

I personally don't care about polls because they're meant to shape public opinion, not shape it; I just find it laughable how the left lives by the philosophy that "it's OK when MY side does it."

Bonus points for Bernvictims lashing out at their sellout meme candidate.

This is actually pretty terrible news for Hillary. She has shown a poor ability to recover once she starts falling in the polls. She has in the past relied on a large head start in polls that is whittled away at.

If Trump is already tied or ahead of Hillary, she is going to have to make substantial changes to her campaign strategy. Republicans had higher turnout in the primary, and Democrats are dependent on turnout from fickle voting blocs.

There is no "getting over" the two party system unless we actually change our system. The nature of the beast is that only two parties can be relevant at any particular time.

You could get a third party to be a major party, but you'd need to bump one of the major parties down to third party status to do it. The parties in the 2-party system can change, but not the system itself. Not without calling a Constitutional Convention anyway.

I disagree. Look at how it scared people away when they were shilling the "Trump is unhinged" thing. If she loses her cool front of TENS OF MILLIONS of live viewers, she's done. The debates won't be about policy it will be about persuasion. If she's freaking out while Trump is standing calm and collected, just that body language alone is a very powerful persuasive tool. But the people with irrational fear of Trump being swayed to him because Hilary gets mad? I just don't see that happening. it might turn people off of voting but I don't think most of those people will even consider Trump. Hilary could take a shit on a black muslim's face and still be better than Trump in their eyes

is right.

In the American electoral system, a candidate for President must get over 50% of the electoral votes to win. When there are two parties, this will almost always happen -- ties are extremely rare.

So what happens if a third party starts to emerge? In almost every Presidential election, with electors split three way, NOBODY gets over 50% -- in that case, the election is decided by the House of Representatives.

You think people were mad after Bush-Gore, when the election had to be decided based on whether the Florida Supreme Court or the US Supreme Court would make the final call on how to count the votes? Wait until you see three or four Presidents selected by the House!

So we're looking at a two-party system as an inevitable consequence of a system that cannot be changed without a constitutional amendment or two.

True, but literally does not matter -- he was "the first black President," remember?
>>

>Republicans had higher turnout in the primary, and Democrats are dependent on turnout from fickle voting blocs.

#blacklivesmatter is backfiring on the Democrats badly. I can see why they thought that it might be a good idea to do whatever was necessary to increase black turnout in a year where they are running an old white woman, but it seems that all the antics and the emphasis on BLM is pissing off everyone else.

I wonder what sort of conversations are occurring in the Democrat leadership right now. Trump was supposed to be getting <20% of the latino vote and inspiring record minority turnout against him, but Trump looks like he will get 40% or more of latinos and the Democrats are having to agitate blacks just to get them to the polls in normal amounts.

No, but it is widely believed that he prevented GHW Bush from winning some by splitting the vote. In the end, it didn't matter since Bush won anyway, but it impacted the magnitude of the win, and forced the campaign to be run differently.

It's a much larger voting bloc than you think.

Underrated post.

She is a terrible campaigner. I'd point out, though, that while she inherited a lot of Bill''s support, she has built her own campaign team, and they largely suck. They are more into kissing her ass than knowing how to win an election.

This election would be a fucking cslam dunk if my party had not managed to find the ONE guy who pisses off more people than she does.

But even with that, even with Trump's manifold weaknesses as a candidate, he's STILL in the fight.

Damn, Hillary sucks as a politician.

I would tend to agree, she'd have to implode badly.

I'd also point out that there are people who are RATIONALLY afraid of Trump, disagreeing with him on major issues. To lose THOSE votes, she'd have to not just implode, but do so in a really spectacular fashion -- even then, at most those folks would likely just stay home.

>they are only like 12% of the population.

In elections that are often decided by 5-10%, 12% of the electorate that votes solidly one way is something to be cherished.

For fun go back and look at how past election might look if black vote had been 40% Republican, with the Dems only getting 60%

It won't be an easy fight. I was talking to people at work and most of them would vote Hillery cause they don't want The Wall to be built or things made harder for them. Guess what ethnicity most of my coworkers are.

I'm voting for Trump for many reasons, but the bulk of those reasons can be summed as; we need to focus on ourselves, we need means of production.

A nation is a living creature. Sometimes it does well, sometimes it lags, sometimes it's hurt. Things are proceeding at a downward slope but the general public can't be fucked to give up their gibsmedat or sacrifice for the betterment of the nation. Liberals, immigrants and more don't understand that at times, you need not ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.

That's what makes this a difficult political campaign for Trump. Too much liberal pussies not willing do their part.

I guess it matters a lot how the anger is conveyed.

If it's controlled anger, like Trump's, "Mantle of Anger" comment, it works.

Demographic distributions. The fact blacks tend to cluster makes it for gerrymandering to be far more effectively than the generally more sparesly distributed whites and Latinos. In essence, the black vote has been made to be heavier and any attempts ag changing that is considered racists.

Yeah, but what happened to Trumpfags' favorite argument that polls are rigged and should not be trusted?
>>
>>80992361
They WERE rigged, they were provably oversampling Democrats. Why would those same polls suddenly switch sides? If this is happening at all it means that we're winning by a lot more than what they're telling us. It's not like there was a change in ownership or like these fuckers switched ideologies overnight.

Short of outright falsifying information, this means we've made massive gains for exactly the reasons we have been repeating for weeks: Hillary is a weak candidate, and people DO care about integrity.
>>
>>80992361
They are rigged. They heavily oversample Democrats. Rasmussen, however, has consistently shown Trump to be performing better than in other polls. The truth is likely somewhere between the "Trump = Clinton" and the "Trump +7" that we've got today. Trump is likely edging Clinton by a three points or so.

I'm a political strategist and understand polling well, and i have no idea wtf is going on with the Reuters polling. Their "don't know/wouldn't vote" category is 10-15 points larger than everyone elses. They are usually accurate about Hillary's numbers in the low 40's, but for some reason in all their polls, since mid may, trump has been stuck at around 33%. No other polling has trump's support at 32-33% and no other polling has the "don't know/won't vote" any higher than 15% or so. I'm not calling it rigged or anything, i just don't know who the fuck they're interviewing to get this many undecideds lol. Not even the fucking crosstabs explain this since the crosstabs in other polls do not show the same amount of undecideds in the various demographics they list.
>>
>>80994479
Uh huh.
>>
>>80995702
here's the issue with polls.
Either
A:
They're not rigged, people just give wildly different answers based on the polling agency.
B:
They're not rigged, the polling agencies are just incompetent at creating consistent reliable polls.
C:
They're rigged.
D:
There is no poll that could ever sample the population effectively.

None of these options give me great faith in the polling system.
