The function of the market it's to provide goods and services to the public and create wealth for the benefit of the very nation it exists within.
If you talk about "separation of business and state" in the sense the state shouldn't try to do the market's work (or that the state should provide conditions for healthy competition to exist), than in most cases you're right.
But if you're saying that the capitalists should be able to accumulate wealth freely and unaccountably to the needs of the state and society, specially to the point of acheive political power, you're just being stupid.
The market and the capital should serve the nation, not the ther way around.
