That if you apply yourself you can secure an honest job, afford a car, a home, attract a nice guy or gal, settle down, start a family, raise your kids in a decent neighborhood, etc.
Sadly this isn't as true as it once was. Our economy and our society has shifted over the last few decades to not just make these things more difficult to acquire in life, but now actively discourages many of them. Why work a job when you can live on welfare and smoke all day? Why invest in a home when you can rent? Why settle down with a nice guy when casual anonymous sex just a tinder swipe away? Why waste money on kids when you can spend it on yourself?
