Assuming Turkey tries to restore a fully normalized relationship, I wonder how Assad will take this in the longterm. No matter how geopolitically beneficial an alliance it may be, it doesn't change the fact that Turkey was the key factor in supplying arms/jihadists, practically destroying Syria, and causing the deaths of thousands of Syrians. I can't imagine Assad just going "oh haha no hard feelings m8" and shaking hands with Erdogan.
Not to mention the various jihadist groups in Syria that currently depend on Turkish support. If Turkey does not handle this restoration of relations well, all those snackbars will turn on Turkey for sure. It's a very dangerous path to tread, despite being the right one.
